American muscle? This is an Australian vehicle (Holden Commodore,) imported & re-badged as Pontiac. The new Caprice is also an Aussie car, based on the Long Wheelbase model of the same car. The V8 is all Chev.

Good to see so many people fans of a great Aussie made product, to bad the Pontiac brand has been dropped, maybe GM can market it as a rebadged Chev?

I would like to see it sold under the Chev brand, moreover there are already plenty of aftermarket add-ons and badges in Australia that are Chev branded. Either way it will be good to see it still being shipped to the US, so all US residents get to enjoy such a great car. BTW, I own a 2007 Holden Commodore SSV in Black with only an exhaust mod at this stage, with a CAM upgrade in the pipeline. It really is a nice car inside and out.

@johnstall5350 Actually they don't. Holden makes the Chevy Lumina aka Pontiac G8, VE Holden Commodore) for the Saudi Arabian and United Arab Emirates markets. The Holden Special Vehicles VE Clubsport R8 (tuned VE Commodore) is sold as the Vauxhall XVR8 in England

BUUUUT.... that is a very nice sounding G8, but ill tell you the GXP is awesome, theres nothign better than a G8 with a standard trans. we have two out of the 600 GXP's being send here at my dealership one auto one standard and man that 6speed is excellent

Buuut...I got way more HP for way more money, and I shift for a living so it's nice to climb into something and just hit the throttle and go. :) Though they should have done the option to have a stick in the reg G8. But, doesn't matter now :( Bye Pontiac! :(

yeah i hear that, its nice to hop in and go. the first ones before GM put out the TSB on the reprogram of the TCM the trans in the GT's were a lil sluggish on bottom end, but they seem to be holding up pretty well. about the only warr. claims i get are oil pan gasket leaks but thats typ GM haha

There's a couple G8's out there that are pushing almost 800HP and havent broke yet. Tranny is rated at 600HP and GM usually always shoots the conservative number. We'll see. lol

The G8 has a six speed trans not a 4 speed so its neither a 4L 70 or 80.
