I was on different AD's for 11 years and I got more depressed and had alot of sideffects, then I weaned off and had to get threw hell for 3 years with a horrible withdrawal..I still dont feel like the old me 4 years off

i was on ZOLOFT before and i almost killed my damn self. It was crazy. I took myself off of them without doctors permission(against what i was supposed to do) and i fell like a million buck a few weeks later.. ZOLOFT was the cause of all the shit i went thru.. DONT TAKE ANY SSRI or MOAI.. NONE>>>>

billysue2, please re-educate yourself. All of the "positive" studies were reported and published but none of the "negative" studies. See the website uniteforlife dot org, if you want me to show you the detailed NEJM analysis let me know.

I cannot force you to read the studies but they are ALL on my website. I don't think even the drug researchers have made the claims you just did. This is not gross exaggeration, and you are right about one thing, people are THROWING babies because of drugs.

im fully aware there are conflicting studies but psychiatric drugs appropriately and correctly managed help more people than they harm.If very few people were helped by drugs then what hyprada says would be true but thats not so.How about some of the terrible suicides ascribed to drugs arising from the illness itself.Suicidal ideation is quite common in severe types of mental illness.

The drugs double the risk of suicide according to the FDA. The only reason we have positive studies is because the researchers design the studies to favor the outcome they are looking for. It took the drug companies 5-6 studies per SSRI before they could come up with 2 positives. All that the FDA needs to approve a drug is 2 positives. For the SSNRIs it took 12-15 before they could find 2 positives.

Im on ssri and others for majority of 18 years and never experienced any violent impulses just mild short lived side effects.SSRI for example definitely cause suicide and murder?I suppose you or some other source can prove both contentions.Why would the natural course of the illness not be causing them?I do agree there is far too much over rescription for mild deression though.

Yes there is ample proof that is why the FDA added the black box warning and why the UK banned them for teens. Also on my website there is a whole section on suicide and violence. The drugs were developed due to the fact that they discovered that impairing serotonin metabolism in rodents caused them to become extremely violent, they considered this a good thing... because they were not lying around depressed. then you had a poor shrink,he should have discussed common side effects with you,raised the level slowly and reduced it slowly along with a close observation.Takes many weeks to receive effects and you may get worse before better.

are you saying there are no antidepressant studies which reduce symptoms better than placebo for any mental illness?If I go to PUBMED now I wont find any?Any drug takes a certain time to take effect depending on its half life length.Many antidepressants take weeks to reduce symptoms while ssri for BDD may take months.Incidentally ive had BDD for 18 years to the point of multiple hospital admissions for suicide attempts and self harm and drugs have only mildly improved my function .

You will find plenty of misreported studies as well as those that were manipulated and had missing data before they were reported including that patients were given benzos to counter mania along with the antidepressants.

The drugs you are on are doing you more harm and causing you to have multiple relapses and worsened symptoms.

You're both correct. The drugs have an immediate effect (hence the need for close observation), but it takes a while to reach a new level of homeostasis. Sometimes the recommendation to increase a dose is just to compensate for tachyphylaxis (tolerance).

The FDA requires proof of efficacy before approving a new drug, so there is proof. Whether it is legitimate or not is another question. The FDA is just one more corrupt federal organization.

Well actually what the FDA is looking at is not efficacy for the intended marketing purpose but whether or not the drug DOES SOMETHING AT ALL. If compared to a placebo it is hard to say that the drug does nothing but in NUMEROUS studies, the drugs actually made patients WORSE than placebo. Antibiotics clearly kill bacteria. Antidepressants clearly make people aggressive, violent, suicidal, etc. There is no evidence of lessened depression, in fact depression is a main effect of the drugs.
