The government also failed to set the alarm off for the upcoming tsunami and lots of our beloved chileans brothers died for the stubbornness of the people "in charge". They got a phone call from the U.S telling them that a tsunami was on its way, but since our fucked up out-of-time system was not making noises they decided not to warn the population and dissmis the call.
We are still the most prosperous Country in south america..
My house got devastated but right now it's okay... we fixed everything in less than 2 months... I'm not rich or something, I'm just a normal chilean...

Well, I'm Chilean we have a lot of quakes , like 1 per year, but they dont cause much destruction, what caused destruction in 2010 was the tsunami, because the epicenter was like 2 milles away in the sea, the earthquake killed 10 guys and the tsunami 700.
There were serveral ufo's in Chile about a year before this earthquake. I could be way off, but it is highly probable that Chileans are victims to a real life "star wars". I believe that HAARP was being used to intercept these ufo's by pumping massive watts of electricity to this geo location, but that will likely cause quakes.

@Zodomir It happens commonly with earthquakes, actually. They tend to release a great amount of energy and pressure into the atmosphere. I can't remember exactly how my prof explained it, but it has something to do with magnetics and the atmosphere, like the northern lights.

It sends push notifications for every earthquake event matching a user set magnitude criteria. I received the Haiti earthquake notification within a minute.
