Originally there was a choice on whether to spend the budget on the scene where Ace escapes through the window or blow the it all on a more technically difficult and expensive prop which would basically be a sort of huge hover sledge the Imperial would travel on when battling the Renegades that sort of resembled the ones that appeared in the He-Man live action film Masters of the Universe. The BBC went with the window scene as the Special Weapons Dalek could be produced more cheaply.

It sounds like the voices have gone through vocal compressor or in other words, the Daleks sound like they have a cold, lol.

I watched this story not too long ago on dvd, and I gotta say that I fell in love with it after only the first episode. Seeing Ace run around with that charged up bat only made it more enjoyable for me~

YAY someone with TASTE IN DOCTOR WHO!!!! im 16 too, and im IN LOVE with the 7th doctor seasons, even season 24 with episodes like paradise towers (my fave ever!!!) ACE IS AWESOME!! and yes my fave doctor has to be Sylvester McCoy, such a pity that he didn't have the longest time playing the doctor =(

did you know that if the series wasn't cancelled, the doctor would take ace to gallifrey so she could enter the academy and become a time lord and she would discover stuff about the doctor

yeah because gallifrey is home to the gallifreyans, the guards teh castellan the keeper of the matrix etc. Time lords are gallifreyans who pass their exams in whichever academy thaey enter and have their biology changed as a sort of prize. time lords are made. so thats what the doctor was going to do. he was training ace, you know how he encourages her to form the answers on her own

Personally, i would have loved to see the Imperial Daleks make a comeback in the new series in full glory, rather then have Davros skulking around in the basement of Time-war era Daleks' crucible like a pet. And WHY, if Davros changed events, and rebuilt Daleks from his own body, would he build Daleks that would use him and answer to a supreme dalek, rather then make an army of Imperials, since there'd be ZERO resistance anymore? Makes no sence. RUS-SEL T DA-VIES SHOULD BE EX-TER-MIN-AA-TED!!

This is suchh a fantastic cliffhanger sends shivers down my spine hearing exterminate, although a bit of me wonders why the daleks didn't just shoot her on the spot instead of screaming at her. Still amazing cliffhanger, one of the best dalek ones ever!
