my band auditioned for a school talent show with this song. we played perfectly at the audition. we even got applause from people that hadnt ever heard the song before but we didnt make it into the show. we asked one of the judges why and he said that the song seemed really depressing and that our singer had too much emotion and that it might make people depressed...wtf? so people react to the music we play. isnt that good?

I think in reality it's that a lot of people can't handle the strength of a ballad like this that reaches the soul and sends chills down the spine. That's why "mainstream" music is such watered down shit; it's easy to consume for people with little or no taste for the substantial. Hell, my ex-girlfriend couldn't even handle 'Denial' by Sevendust

@faithfuldistortion1 Clearly he was nothing more then a mainstream kind of person. He probably like tunes to be typical and invoke very little feelings (other then being happy) within the audience. I don't know what kind of professional he was because honestly most people I know who are professional composers, musicians, etc. will tell you that it is not uncommon for good music to sometimes create a variety of feelings. Look at Beethoven. That music isn't always upbeat, yet it's a masterpiece.
