What a great ship. RC is going to sell monarch but keep majesty. And neither are going to pullmantor. I miss her. Never sailed on her. I was in nassua and saw her before she left. I remembered the name and when I had convinced mom to go on a cruise, we looked up only to find it went to pullmantor.

what a sweet tribute. I was on one of her final voyages in May 2008 to Nassau. It was my first cruise and she hooked my husband and I hook, line, and sinker. I have been on many cruises since including the Navigator of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas.....but not a single ship charmed me like the Sovereign. too bad I will have to visit Spain to sail on her again.

My wife and I traveled on her during her Easter cruise back in 1996 and loved her. We were only married about 8 months and fell in love with crusing on our honeymoon.

I love this video and the music, I can watch it over and over, but I wonder y RCI got rid of her so quickly they just got rid of the Empress a few months before, they should have kept her at least until 2009? 2010 maybe.

@chathamshawn I watched the 5 Ep documentary on her dry dock and all that hard work was for nothing, shame on RCI and nothing beats the original, athough I have yet to sail on the duo thats let, Im still hoping....btw I wonder how much Pullmantur changed, I wonder if her famous time piece is still on board or not

@chathamshawn Mhm, Ive been dying to sail on the duo and the 8 Fantasy sisters, theres just something about older generation ships that I love. I wonder what the people thought who worked on her about her being transfered. This ship still had alot of potental in her. and with that red funnel its like wow I just wanna get rid of it.

@Lilyankee2424 I know I talk to you awhile back I just went on my 7th cruise last week on the Carnival Fascination it was alot of fun cannot wait to for my next one in Dec. on the Allure of the seas I wonder if Sovereign Class was as popular as the Oasis class is today?

@chathamshawn Probably, back when this ship was first built, she was considered the Oasis of the Seas in tht time...she was one of the biggest ships around

What a ship. Her and her three sisters are the last of a breed, when big could still be beautiful.

I was just a kid,but I got to see her off on her maiden voyage out of port. When she came in, it was as if the entire city came out to see her. The port was full of smaller vessels, helicopters flew above, people lined the shore, and ships in port saluted her as she slipped by.

no matter if rc sell it cruises it have the Oasis of the seas that is definetely better than any other carnival cruise...nice video i was on the majesty of the seas in february

This is a great video. Also Pullmantur is one of the cruise lines that is owned  by Royal Caribbean.

@WamsWarrior that would be a shame, rccl did say a while back they regret transferring sovereign, and they wont be repeating that for a few years but i suppose they change their minds like the weather. keep these ships for more choice and a mix of big and small ships.

@kdproductions2008 i think that cruise lines should always keep their ships no matter how old or small they r. they could be used for more and more ports. right now carnival goes to quite a bit more places than rc which would hurt rc

My first cruise was on the Sovereign of the Seas when I was 17. Ever since I was a little kid I've been fascinated by ships and shipbuilding and the Sovereign of the Seas took me cruising for the very first time. For sentimental reasons, I'm very sad that she is not a part of Royal Caribbean's fleet anymore. I took my first of many cruises on the Sovereign and she will always have a special place in my heart.

@Daniel21384 Actually , Pullmanture cruises is owned by RCCL , I still think they should have kept sovereign , Majesty or Monarch , but why the head ship of the fleet? RCCL Should change the class of ship on their web site to Majesty Class.

I went on Explorer of the Seas this past july 23rd - august 1st 2009 & on tv all week they had a show of when they redid sovereign...it was very interesting. She is a very pretty ship just like all of royal caribbeans other ships....i actually think rcl is the prettiest cruise line. its sad to see how pullmantur changed the beauty in sovereign.

i just got off the explorer of the seas and they had this whole channel with just episodes of them dry docking the soveriegn but they never showed us the end. i was very disappointed, i can't believe they sold it after they has just dry docked 4 years ago.

They sold her to Pullmantur because they are sister cruise lines and Pullmantur needs help expanding, so Royal Caribbean sold her to them. I agree, she looks ugly now.

I went with my best friend on the Sovereign in September 2007. It was my second cruise. This was one of the best times in my life. I positively loved this ship. We are going on the Monarch next month. I hope its just as fun. I made my first youtube video today of this cruise. Good times!

they are the smallest cabin in the cruise industry, i believe the strategy was to get people out of their cabins and enjoy what the ship has to offer and also what the ports have as well.

My family and I sailed on the Sovereign 18 times before she was retired from the RCI fleet. As a teen i had my first kiss, cruise romance and longest and strongest friendship. Seeing her leave is like a part of me that is permanantly sealed as my past and can never occur again. Freedom and Genesis are great, but NO ships will ever come close to having the level of character or intimacy that the Sovereign of the Seas did. Rest in Peace ole Gal.

well unfortunatly they can its their ship and they dont care anymore, its all about the bigger ships and more passnger loads. the sovereign was too small and too old for them. pullmantur have to take care of the sovereign because its still owned under contract to royal caribbean. but i believe you must be referring to cvc viagens who have been chartered the ship. taking this ship out of the caribbean has completely decimated her character altogether.
