This is what happens when someone can't make a good movie. They make a shit movie and then claim that its bad points are actually good points that we're all too stupid to recognize. At one point he even says "this is clearly something that would not be in a normal film. You won't see a shot completely ill-framed like that." Right Paul, it's great because it sucks- makes perfect sense.

This series is actually a great lesson on how to make movies well, and why. If Paul can listen in private and learn, he will make a far better movie the next time.

Writing a script helps, too. You shouldn't try an improv or even MOSTLY improv movie until you've written a few full scripts that actually work. Otherwise it will be hard for you to improve usable dialogue- AND even tell when it is usable or when it needs to be redone.

Actually I can see that. Not just 'Eraserhead' and his experimental stop motion painting work, but also his newest evolutionary stage in the form of 'Inland Empire', I can see they were really getting at many of the same things. Truly post modern and brilliant.

i just started watching twin peaks. even though its a very commercialized version of lynch's vision i have to say its my new favorite television show of all time and ties with blue velvet as my favorite of his works. It's like northern exposure and blue velvet drank some pabst and fucked in the back of a van and gave birth to a masterpiece. LOST is heavily influenced by it.
