see watching videos like this makes me appreciate that i have the Bongo Brothers right in my backyard......damn dey suck ass. n another thing, HBCU's started tonal bass drum parts, but stopped playing them when NCAA colleges startd playin them......
i really find it funny how people talk mad shit about others not knowing most likely these guys playing can give you a more than just a lesson how it is that you play in a drumline. these guys are mad cool and i respect them for what they do, they are alumni and play their hearts out just for the love of playing. luckily i got taught one year under a TM alumni and it was the most rewarding year of my life, hell it got me where i got right now, marching snare for the 2007-2008 cavaliers =D
Let me school for a second young man, I guarantee every cadence that was ever brought to light came from the idea of other schools, unfortunatly YOU wouldnt understand because all you do is listen to cadences and all you know is what school plays them. I majored in music, so that means I had to study the history of music and its various forms,NOT on a high school level either.Another thing I dont have to name all of a schools cadences to know that every single one of them arent original...
...its not like there is a book that was written called "original cadences for HBCU's".See our black schools didnt start tonel bass drums until we heard what they sound like in the white schools. So dude before you come asking me those type of questions do your homework, not only that I work with children teaching percussion."Now go play somewhere...Im busy".
