This entire album ("Forever Changes") is amazing! If it weren't for the Rolling Stone "500 Greatest Albums" rankings, I probably would have never discovered this forgotten gem. The collection feels like a missing chapter in the 60s saga. It's haunting, beautiful and absolutely unique. It simultaneously makes me feel jubilant and maudlin. The instrumentation and production is wonderful, and the psychedelic elements are not over-the-top. This is a pretty, well-planned piece of art. RIP Arthur.
Because the Doors weren't strung out at start up... I love, Love but they just couldn't get with the business of becoming famous. They missed great opportunities for concerts and I believe they turned down a little venue called Woodstock..I may be wrong but I believe I read this.
in my personal list, forever changes is the most beautiful album in rock history, along with revolver, ok computer, grace, exile on main street, velvet underground (the third) and a few others
One of the reasons I love this song is because I have the rest of this incredible album to listen to-remember when it came out in 1968-and never get tired of it!!
@dethstark and also because Arthuy lee refused to play any shows outside LA. I think he was smart in doing so. But a world tour would have made them the biggest american band of the late 60s. You are right about that my friend.
I bought this album in 68 in Montrose Scotland when stationed nearbye a small record shop but they always had the new from radioe LUX it was a small shop but they was hip I still have many albums that i bought from them sorry I miss the times there this music reawakens the good times
Probably the first supergroup, along with a few others of the same time... Buffalo Springfield, JA, Quicksilver, etc. Great vocals and delicious lyrics... and that horn!
@chrisd365 Sounds amazing. This song is so odd in it's sense of foreboding and resignation.. setting up for the whole album. When that horn solo begins it is like a tribute to a lost world... ahead of it's time I guess! Well if we want the magic of those times again... no one else is going to create it for us. We're going to have to see the world with new eyes again.

This album is for my dear, dear friend, (now departed) JIM MEEKS...... My love to my friend never fails, as this music endures, I will also.
