  • I actually got to stay in the house that they go to in the summer. They say in the movie that it's in Pennsylvania but actually it's in new orleans and they ripped off my family by never paying them. So they basically got to use the house for free because my family thinks it would be a waste of time to take them to court. Hollywood greedy bastards. The house is beautiful though.

  • when is it going to be shown in Australia. Has there been a DVD released?

  • Loved this film. I want to hug it.

  • looks like a good movie, except, just from seeing this trailer, I can't help but see this kid as a whiny-person who thinks he can instantly leanr to paint or soemthing. How about he tries on his own first. I had to teach myself to self paint, and I just find it weird...maybe because in the trailer he showed no previous attempts of trying. thats like trying to run a marathon w/o trying. you'll fail.

  • one of my favorite movies of all time, so beautiful

  • I only wanna see it because it has Trevor Morgan in it ;D hahaha jkjk :)

  • Just watched this movie last night. Loved it! It really spoke to me, especially when the Seroff and John characters speak about art and the process of creating. I just ordered the last copy from the big on-line store. I think George Gallo created the paintings used in the film. If you read this George---they are inspiringly (is that a word?) beautiful, as is your film. Namaste

  • cant wait to c it

  • This lively film is the "Karate Kid" of art-making of any kind, tho especially thorough for me as a painter. Takes no prisoners, censors no real-life words, and even shows the process of painting in a new light--- much as "Madame Sousatzka" taught music--- it is to celebrate living. Thank you, George Gallo.

  • one of the best film! I' ve just finished watch this film. This was a third time i saw it:):) amazing

  • You guys can watch it @ ( Movies Ace . c0m ) and its free ;D

  • Local Color is a masterful work of art, much like the subject of its story, and the artist George Gallo deserves nothing less than the boundless appreciation of the theater-going public. I Watched The Movie Here BigOnlineMovies . c o m

  • Trevor Mprgan always gives some magic in his movies, he's so damn good!

I especially like the language of his face, certainly when he plays in the movie 'A Rumor Of Angels.' Gives me goosbumps

  • it`s amazing...i saw it long time ago....

  • Peggy Guggenheim's little sheep are finally called out, but who cares? A sweet story, but I think the real split is between classic figure painters who go after explicit narrative and the abstract painters whose subjectivism must be explained then justified by high ticket purchases by the "hip"--the old Abs vs. Figs thing. Straight landscape painters seldom piss anybody off--although Levitan did--but Tolstoy saved his butt.

  • i watched this in my hotel room, and it was great\1

  • I have been waiting for a long time for this movie to finally be released!!! Yay!!!! It looks like a very good one. A film to champion the creative spirit, and creative people!!

  • The main character was on the disney channel with Emmy Rossum, but a long time ago. Remember "Genius?"

  • wow, this truly looks like a great film, i can't stop watching this trailer. congratulations!! the best of luck to all of you, something tells me this film is amazing. we should have more like this in our cinemas

  • The best part is at 2:07, when out of nowhere, a blonde Ray Liotta in a tanktop smacks our main character in the face. Very funny.

  • finding forester for painters. looks good

  • no its more like the karate kid for painters, lol

  • I saw an advanced screening at Warner Bros. for htis film, and I must say, I really enjoyed it. I don't know why studios are making movies like this. It was entertaining, touching and also had a great message about the simplicity of art and growth. I will definatley be seeing this when it is released nationally.

  • god trevor is dawm sexiixxx

  • George, Saw it in Bainbridge. Talked to you briefly, but the tears of emotion in my eyes rendered me inarticulate. Wish I had it in my power to help you get the distribution you need to bring it to the world's attention. Thanks for the courage to buck the system with beauty.

  • Go George Go...

    Best wishes with Local Color.

Your film is such a good movie that I feel it is my responsibility to help you spread the word.

  • How long will I have to wait to see this movie without flying to Arizona which I am tempted to do!

  • Hi and thanks for your interest!

We are starting to gain the interest of our countries theater owners due to the response of our film by audiences as well as the exhibitors themselves. As far as filmmakers' dream scenarios go, this is one of them. We thank all of our supporters who have helped champion our film by spreading the word through their endorsements. We could not do it without all of you!

    With deep appreciation,

Julie & George Gallo and all of the filmmakers of Local Color!

  • Thanks Michael for the response. Let me clarify the question..is it only playing in Arizona?

  • This looks like a feel good inspiring movie. Is it just playing at the Camelback?

  • not its playing at Arrowhead and Superstition

  • I went to Camelback 5 this weekend. I saw Margot at the Wedding instead.

  • Awesome film! Go see it at Camelback 5 this weekend so it gets released nationwide!

  • As an artist I was very moved by the trailer and cannot wait to see Local Color in a local theatre (NH). All the bast to the producers!

  • Local Color was amazing! go see it!

  • Local Color touched my heart!

I resonate with Nicholi Seroff's wisdom and with his concern about the direction our arts are manifesting. There is great cause for concern when the arts and media serve stupefy us. It stunts our humanity and steals the best that we can be.

Beauty and truth are great healers and great art can serve the best that we already are though an alchemical resonance that touches the heart, mind and soul with a divine shared experience of who we really are.

  • Awesome!

  • this looks awful

  • Can't wait to see it!

  • I just saw this last night...GO SEE IT! If you have ever had any kind of obstacle in your life while pursuing your dream you will be able to relate to this movie.

Just remember it's not necessarily promoting representational art...everyone!

    It's a good movie.

  • heard about this on the Jeff Farias radio show - looking forward to seeing this in my area (SF Bay Area)

  • Part II - The whole point of our film is self expression and therefore it was hypocritical for us to remove the comment. George and I were not aware that someone was going to do this, so we deeply apologize to the person who posted it, for squashing their self expression. Thank you. Julie

  • I was surprised when I noticed that particular "critical" comment deleted, because I didn't experience it as being flaming, but balanced and emotionally neutral. In contrast, many people who leave negative comments on YouTube are arrogantly obtuse, with emphatic sentence fragment declarations without explanations. (Although real discussion is limited on YouTube due to its 500 character comment limit.)

Thank you for your courage in your steadfast openness to self expression (in all media)!

  • You are right Amanda. I'm Julie Gallo, one of the producers, and I did see this comment yesterday. My initial reaction to it was that this person had misinterpreted Diana Scarwid's character as being an anti-Semite, which scared us because that was not the intent at all. However, this person had taken the time to break down what they liked and what they did not like about the film and I appreciated this. I thank them for not only seeing our film, but for starting a dialogue about it.

  • I saw some very good constructive feedback here, but it was deleted. Unfortunately, the reason you are only reading good reviews here is because "unfavorable" comments are being removed.

  • As a plein air painter myself, and an artist both by trade and by temperament, I'm very moved by the trailer and can't wait to see the movie. There are too many people who go through life without finding a passion to pursue, or perhaps glimpsing their passion at some point and then losing it again to "practicality". This movie seems to celebrate the creative spirit and the wonder and the power in pursueing a dream.

  • Gee! No special effects, blood, or nudity? You mean the strength of the movie is on the story? Finally, something worth seeing. I will spend my money on it.

  • Gallo at his best. Couldn't stop watching this sweet story. We need more films like this

    Congrads

  • Lovely, trailer left me in tears, I cannot wait to see this film. Thank you

  • This film was amazing!! It is by far the best film I have seen for a LONG time! This is a film with a heart and has true meaning.

  • Absolutely fantastic It will be a great success I know it in my heart , body and soul. I but the word out at Fine Art America and told them to watch it. A masterpiece for sure and I feel that giving up all your personal assets will pay you 100 times fold, just for believing in your dreams.

  • Are you telling me with a cast like this noone will pick this up? It makes you wonder what movies we aren't getting to see. How many other Oscar nominees are doing great work that is not getting seen? You have to wonder about a system that works like this. Scare me, gross me out, but please show only a select few films that are beyond the ordinary, and then please release them between October and December. Best of luck to the producers, I hope I get to see this movie someday.

  • Thank you

  • The movie looks lovely, the kind that must be seen in the cinema. I can't wait for it to hit LA. Beautiful score, too, it sounds like. I'll check out iTunes.

  • Loved the film! It is worth seeing and something I would spend money in the theatres to see several times over!

  • Trailer looks awsome. I felt the story and it was heart warming! Can't wait to see the film.

    Stephen

  • Lovely. I can't wait to see it. :)

  • No matter what happens at the box office you are to be complimented for doing a movie about art. It's always been a tough sell in Hollywood. Maybe this movie will turn the tide. From the looks of this trailer, it has a shot.

  • this movie will 'turn the tide'

  • Wow, finally a film that shows artists as real human beings with genuine passion for painting and life. I can't wait to see the entire film!

  • A wonderful movie by a genuine story teller, George Gallo. See this movie with your family, as a couple or on your own...you may learn something about yourself...

In our culture where the media is constantly screaming for our attention here is a quite and beautiful film with a timley message of wisdom passed down to the next generation.... It's a powerful message that needs to be heard always...

    Bravo!

  • I love the mood of this movie, it looks wonderful! Plus, anything with Armin Mueller-Stahl (Nicoli) is golden because he has impeccable taste when choosing projects. I can't wait to see it!!!

  • great trailer...the soundtrack is available at iTunes and emusic
