Omg. I laughed so hard watching this. I think my Williard is IN LOVE. He loves to run around the house too, but unfortunately he chews on everything so I can't let him unless he's watched. One time he got on my bed and took ALL of the tootsie pops on of the bag and hid them all under my bed in the corner. Hahahaha, it was so funny.

How are you able to just let her free range throughout the house, it's really awesome, but, I would be scared for my ratties.

During her free-roaming time I watch every step she takes. I make sure everything is rat-proof so she doesn't get hurt. We don't have cracks or holes where she could get through. She doesn't chew wires at all. I do have to pull her away from the base boards, though LOL. She is a very social, friendly, curious and adventurous girl! She demands the whole house! My other girls Pisces, Chailyn and Morgan were the same way.

Ah, that makes sense. When we let our most mischevious of the bunch out to play, she'd hide under the couch, although I guess a few boxes and boards could fix that. :) Thanks for the advice!

Sophie also goes under (or more like inside) the couch to stash or eat something she found or to rest for a few minutes :). You could make them a big play pen or maybe make just one room rat-proof and let them roam around in there with tons of toys, boxes and blankets. I have one room layed out with these foam mats that link together and on top of that I throw blankets and toys. I covered up the base boards with plexi-glass (Home Improvement stores can cut them for you)

Thanks! Oh yes she does! She jumps up the stairs. She was so determined to drag that whole Kaiser Roll upstairs and hide it. She is an awesome rat!

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo i hate things like that! my friend says its cute but i just end up feeling really bad for the rats! mine always try to take huge bits of paper through tiny little spaces or upstairs in their cage and then they keep dropping it and have to start again but then if i try to help them they seem to think im saying they cant have it anymore. i know its actually quite good for them having a bit of a challenge to keep them occupied but it still makes me sad :(

Believe me, I felt bad too but I think she had fun. It's their instinct to look for food and stash/hide it. It really is good that they have something to do. It's stimulating for them.

I have two girls left but I'll take in another one in a few days. She is a loner unfortunately so she'll have to live by herself however, she'll get a lot of attention (like all my rats).
