Answer: The two lateral ditches are about 12 to 18 inches deep, while the center "dry well" hole is about 30 to 36 inches deep. They were all filled with 2b limestone to within 4 inches of the surface, then the stone was covered with landscape fabric, and finally topsoil, seed and mushroom manure on top of the landscape fabric. This soggy area of lawn was considerably dryer this spring, even in the midst of excessive rainfall.
Do you think I would have luck digging a drywell if the soil I'm putting it in is clay? Or might the dry well fill up too quickly and not drain? Thanks.
@jorgekluney -- The lawn where we installed this french drain & drywell had a considerable amount of clay soil, especially at deeper depths, but this still solved the problem of standing water after heavy rains. Our client is very pleased with the result.
