Incredible, simply the best, I cant help get nostalgic when I see a video of him, my true american idol. Long life Alice in Chains, keep on the great music to tribute Layne.
i do listen to a lot of diffrent music dead/wsp/phish killers/ and more, but i saw aic 16 times and it was sickjust sayin to the haters layne was a great vocallll
0:36 the sentence and his face are priceless .. always loved Layne's voice !! He was so cute and sensible, just look in his eyes ... Just a misunderstood kid ...
He looks so healthy in a few of those photos, specially the one at 2 mins an the one right after. The one at 3.14 with the smirk on his face he kind of looks like Tom Hardy for second,Bane from the new Batman.Top singer
@dontcrytomebaby. Angrychair was a song about hallucinogens.. Not heroin, are even an addict? You don't sound like one.. What I was saying is that when someone uses to the point of death, it's from depression not the addiction.. The addiction becomes a tool of the depression.. But I just wanted to clarify what I was trying to say, not to argue with you, I never thought about song placement having any significance. Good pointe
It is so coincidental, My Best Friend, My SOULMATE was born April 5th 1969! He was murdered outside a club here in Denver, Nov 17,1996, he owed money for a " Heroin " addiction! He was clean for 3months, but the dealers found him and killed him! I have never missed a day not thinking about him. Drugs are " BAD " news! Much Love To C.R. Smith & To Layne Staley! Also Mike Starr You Tried, I Love You:) Carey McKay
Also some sad news within the same band! Mike Starr the bass player terrific guitarist and one of Layne's bestfriend died this past March, I had watched him on Celebrity Rehab! He was just lost, Gone without his friend, he felt he had caused his passing! Layne's Mother Nancy showed up at graduation day for the show, and Mike was so moved he kept asking for forgiveness! They both were crying heavily, she asked mike " Did You See Him Die" ? He said " NO "! I Loved Him Nancy! It was so Touching:(
What I'm about to say is going to piss off a lot of people but i watch every video on you tube pertaining to Layne (he is my favorite vocalist of all time), and so many people say how horrible drugs are.. Layne loved drugs, if you don't believe me listen to "Junkhead". It was depression that killed him just like Kurt, I don't see people posting "I hate shotguns" on Cobain's videos...
@80mgstreetpharm Layne didn't love drugs. There is a reason why Angry Chair was placed after Junkhead on the Dirt album. It was to show how naive someone can be with drugs (Junkhead), and then show the negative impact they have on you (Angry Chair). He was telling a story, and even if he liked them at first, it doesn't mean he kept doing them to get high. He even said that in one of his last interviews.
Just the look on his face with Gary Busey, priceless. Lord we would love to have our Layne back,so please watch, comfort, and protect him, because we miss him so. Until we meet again someday God-bless.
Great PictureS!!! This Song brings back memories, tears,Too much loss! "LAYNE,MISS YOUR INTENSITY!" Frank Zappa said,"A remorseless young Musician's career starts off like a kiss,..and follows like a curse."
dude im 14 years old.. i just learned about laynes music about 1 year ago and fell deeply in love with it, now here i am cryin bout his death man.... i wish i had a chance to live durin his time man :(
Toll, yes, great.... The beauty of music is that someone has his opinion, but i hate people that listen to music or see videos just because someone is dead, what kind of shit! The first time that i listened the nirvana's unplugged i didn' t know that the lead singer, cobain was dead, but this music was so awesome...., then when i knew the history of nirvana i said: What a sin!! For kurt and layne... rip both
@MrSatanochio No, i understand that you don' t know me of course, but in my opinion the voice of layne is the best, i don' t care if he died, was much better if Man In The Box were singed with him and not duvall, if you like music and rock music you'll understand that someone has his "personally best" voice in the world. That voice for me is the voice of We Die Young and the dead of layne letf empty and bare the music... So if for you layne was not the best who is in your opinion?
@tzum77 It`s like the best drummer. There is no such thing. Don`t get me wrong, Staley is awesome ! One of the best voices. I don`t really focus on the voice, because i listen to a lot of bands like Isis and post rock. If i was to pick a voice from the grunge scene, i would say Layne Staley and Eddie Vedder. But my favorite is Maynard from Tool. Not just in Tool, but also his other projects.
Awesome video and great tribute to Layne. Man we could really use you right now. Music has gone to shit! Your talent is a huge loss. Thank you for what you have left us. No one has even come close.
i think layne is a great singer will always be missed! but i read that he was very lonely and now he doesnt haave to worry any more about that the angels are keeping hime compay! i was sad to hear he had left us but at least he in now! miss you so much Layne
People honestly don't know what they r missing. Layne Staley had 1 of the best voices in metal. Along with other great talents like Dimebag Darrell, Kurt Cobain, Cliff Burton, Randy Rhodes, and too many others all of this modern day crap people call "music" will never compare!
@DancingMedicineMan What did he die of? Why would I tell you, so you can troll some more and try to piss off someone who lives 20,000 miles away from you? He was worth more than that.
This guy was one of the best vocalists i have ever heard!
I was having problems in my later high school years and i'm sure his lyrical highs and lows helped me get through, we lost Layne but i am hear partly because of him. I never met him but i really miss him!
I love Layne. And i love the way he matured as a musician. During facelift he had long hair was into his heavy metal. He seemed like he was into music but he was one of those metal bands. Then on Alice in Chains (and even on segments of Dirt and Jar of Flies) you could tell he'd matured. Shame in you, Over Now, nothin' song ect ect. they'd never be on an album like Facelift! And even here with Mad season. The songs became a lot more personal and less about the hardest rockin track on the record
That was beautiful, man. Made me fuckin cry. But I love remembering Layne. He is the voice from the soundtrack of my life, as I imagine he is for many boys and girls from my generation. He gave his soul to us through his music and his voice, and his legacy will be forever alive as long as we listen and feel him. AIC forever. Peace.
Absolutely amazing. Layne has inspired me so much. I look up to him and I play my music as a tripute to his life and the light he left. I can't believe he knew Gary Busy. Thank you very much for making this he will be remembered.
Fantastic collection of moments, from the innocent early mid 80's to the seasoned much learned professional.Really great song from "Above",I ve never been much of a Mike McCready fan but, this strat playing is great[I always secretly thought "every time I heard a Pearl Jam song Guitar solo.....MAN!!!
