thats not fiber optic.. its a high quality nylon.. here in my country their selling it as a xmas tree or something like that.. and it has a LED at the base where the nylon is pointing.. and you can see it reflects it at the other side-end of the nylon..

You should top it by using florecent paint in the panel lines and eyes. When you shine a black-light on it, the panel lines will glow. Its a good way to create the illusion of trans-am or the flow-lines of an Orbital Frame or similar mecha.
