@dddproject They are using a plaster and grog (sand) mixed with crushed (used) refractory.. when we did this in college.. we just used plaster and sand.. can't remember the ratios but we mixed the sand and plaster in a wheelbarrow before adding the water.
Very interesting way of presenting this method as an art. I knew it was used for bronze sculptures -I've seen many videos, but the overal details in this video make it, truly, worth watching.
