I remember barracking for Wigan in this game ... and I'm an Aussie. The Broncos were an easy team to hate in the early 90's. Would have loved to have seen how they would have faired against the Illawarra Steelers (who were robbed in the prelim final against St George) in 1992 and a fully fit Raiders outfit in 93, instead of two weak St George teams. I believe the Broncos were relieved not to be playing the Steelers in 92.
why no 1995 challenge?? sorry wigan fans but this 1994 broncos side was certainly inferior to the canberra raiders side of 1993-94, a canberra (winners 1994) v wigan match would have been the true championship game. the touring kangaroos in oct 1994 containing 7 raiders played wigan, and beat them easily. it wasnt until 1997 that wigan played the raiders, with most of the players you see here. they lost 56-12 in the world club challenge.
Crazy to see the poms back then dealing to the aussies in these world cup challenges, and three years in a row! wouldnt happen these days which is a shame,we need more competion from the northen hemisphere
@johmedis If I'm spasticated at least I can communicate with ockers at their level. Besides, I think you might have the wrong game clever dick; Tallis didn't play in the 1994 WCC, that was the '97 WCC comp. Anyway, the first thing Terry O'Connor thought was "my wife hits harder". The first thing Tallis thought as he sank to his knees was "my fucking nose is bust".
@MancPie Hey, clever dick. I never referred to this game. I referred to Gorden Tallis smashing Terry O'Connor's face in, that was all. Well done there, on your attempt at being a pretentious, condescending faggot, typical of Englishmen, and you fail.
Also, I think you might ahve the wrong game, clever dick; Tallis doesn't fall to his knees, and Terry O'Connor gets snapped.
Don't even bother replying cunt, you have no hope.
@johmedis hahahaaaa...fucking typical inbred convict ocker. Face it, you posted your Tallis comment on the wrong game and got caught out. Get over it kid. Tell you what - watch the O'Connor-Tallis fight again - ok, so Tallis gets in there first and throws a few nice fast ones, but who has the bust nose and is down on his haunches afterwards...oh wait, yep that's your mighty 'Raging Bull' who's all fucked up, on his knees and holding his face. Or have you got the wrong game again skippy??
@MancPie Hey, guess what, I could have mentioned any Australian on English fight. I could have mentioned Fielden v Mason, in which the Englishman gets knocked out by a single punch I believe? But I mentioned Gorden Tallis because it seemed more appropriate, in terms of the platform. But yeah, if you think I thought it was this match, one that happened BEFORE I was born, then go ahead and be a moron.
Also, that video shows Terry O'Connor with a busted nose, and whinging to the ref. You lose pom.
@johmedis hahahaaaa worst comeback ever. Give it up. Aussies might be good at RL, but they're thick as pigshit. "aaaawwwww mate" is about as good as it gets.
Later ocker. I'm off to enjoy just how fucked up Tallis was again...
I was there that night and had my photo taken with Offiah as they did the lap of honor. It was such a great shot Wigan RLFC requested a print of it to hang at the club. What a great night. I remember thinking how massive Tuigamala looked and he hardly played. Probably a good thing i saw how he used to destroy union players back then
what about when wigan beat manly in 1989. Wigan had 13 english players on the pitch!
I am not saying english rugby keague is better then australian because it isnt but you should give this wigan team the credit they deserve. It was a brilliant team a true rugby leage fan would accept that!!
I was there. I thought I could never see through the fireworks. The number 4 should have gone to Offiah to go under the posts. In close games it counts. Great performance from Wigan. What a star studded team. Stunning and well deserved.
Probably was the greatest team ever, but a what cost.. Funding that team all star team practically bankrupted the club 3 years later. The effects of which 15 years later the 'Greatest' rugby league club are just about getting over.
wigan warriors!!!!! the greatest rugby league team ever!!!!! great achivements , 3 world club challenges, 18 legaue titles, 17 challenge cups cant ask more from a better team and this year were gonna add more to are trophy cabinet its gonna be 19 league titles and 18 challenge cups!!!!! MIKE MAGUIRES BARMY ARMY!!!!!
So what happened to English Rugby League? The national side is poor and the overall standard of the professional clubs is still miles behind Australia.
One of the greatest bronco teams ever on the field. Brisbane had a massive couple of weeks before this game and also had a few players out. If the broncos had their full team they would have won.
beliorlovi21, typical Aussie whinger, beaten by the greatest team to have ever graced the face of the earth, deal with it or will you be blaming the humidity for the loss that day
@SexyYfronts Im not whinging its true brisbane were playing state of origin and normal ARL games. We had about 5 first graders out and this was a midweek game which aussies teams never play in the our country in any sport. It was half way through the season too. Not to mention whinging aussie please the pom invented whinging its like bad teeth and terrible soccer team lol
@SexyYfronts SexYfronts Brisbane the greatest, OHH YEAH stats proove it champ
The Mighty Broncos are 23 years old 18 straight years in the final series 6 from 6 premierships 2 world club championships. remember 1991 Broncos v Wigan at Central park? let me refresh ur memory Broncos 22 Wigan 4 a mighty bronco slaughter. Wigan just and only just beat them the next year when did wigan last win the comp? The broncos last won it in 06. so ill say it again the BRONCOS R THE GREATEST
@poitty1978, stats my arse, how many times have you won the WCC?, Brisbane 2 Wigan 3, you've won the final 6 times where as Wigan have won theirs 18 times, not to mention the Challenge Cup 17 times as well as dominating that cup from 87-95, and the Lancashire league 18 times, Lancashire Cup 21 times, i also recall Wigan winning the Middlesex sevens rugby union comp as well as another 25+ trophys from other comps, i think the Trophy haul of Wigan proves who is the greatest and it isn't Brisbane
@poitty1978 d0nt be fucking stupid the poms wigan are the greatest rl club in the world coming from a paramata fan what they did to brisbane made them that no oone gave them a chance
They only had to compete against St Helens Leeds Bradford as their main opponents in england and still they brought their way to the top Wigan filled with Kiwis and aussies to go with a few poms where as the Broncos team was made up of juniors with a few brought in 1992 go through that team and ull find 13 of the 17 players were from the bronco juniors
@poitty1978 you see thats bollocks we bought our way because we slowly got better and better the hard way from the 2nd division in the 80s right up to world beaters in the late 80s early ninetys , there was no millioner buying our club we did it the hard way so dont talk shit.
@bobnudd Talk shit lets see how many aussies/kiwis do u have in this current side? 18 points wasnt it 22 - 4 and not a pom in sight in the mighty broncos side in our hostory we had only ever signed only 1 pom where all english sides sign aussie / kiwi players. @saeid54 Mate i never said that wigan wasnt a good side this year they were and deserve all the aculadies they get they won the Super League. St George is a good side aswell but even the most one eyed Dragons supporter would admitt that over the last decade they have massively under achielved i wont say choked as they can only play as good as the coach coaches them they had all the talent in the world and until Wayne bennet came in they didnt know how to use it
@poitty1978 Very true mate, I think Wigan will turn the Dragons over in the world club final. And England have half a chance against the Aussie this year down under. Without Jonathan Thurston and Greg Inglis you never know. Bring on the 31st
@saeid54 The Kiwis will be tougher to beat than the aussies this year. First time they have had a full strength side for a long long time........England will be last one half and then it will be all overs
