  • The action of the rioters in London right now are the culture learning from Web 2.0. YouTube is one of the main players in the free for all abandonment of law and discipline amongst youth. YouTube and the Web have shown people a world were people don't have to pay for other peoples product/work, what we are seeing in London is the youth who have learned from YT et al that you can steal en masse and get away with. Google you are the most Evil Entity in the World!

  • I thought it was the near complete lack of journalists that was killing journalism. Web 2.0 has eliminated the need for adenda, commentary, and filtering and just given us the information.

We, as a society of choosers are collectively, the gatekeeper.

  • Yo fuck this guy. Srsly.

  • No, Web 2.0 affords us an opportunity to express themselves instead of listening to snobs like yourself laying down the law on what we should listen to and when. You are scared because you believe that only 10% of the world should control the other 90%. You are nuts! Debate me in New York and I will show you how it's done. Don't be a douche bag.

  • You are so way off with your theory. What's sad is that your self importance is overshadowing reality. Mainstream media declined because of competition. There are many events that the mainstream media will never broadcast, such as the brutalization of Rodney King.

  • I read the book. He has many good points and many I agree with AND many I disagree with. If you have not read the book you do not know what he is really talking about.

  • Now remember boys and girls... unless you're spoon fed reality from cnn/foxnews you're not doing it right, the internet is an evil evil place and anything you hear from the internet that contradicts what the TV gods are telling you is concentrated SATAN

  • The funny thing is, Keen is just an amateur himself, and his book is nothing but an extended blog on paper.

  • He has been in the buisness for several years.

  • I think a lot of bloggers have too...

  • @swearenger brilliant

  • And what is this bullshit about the Internet lowering the quality of information? There will always exist good and bad sources. Only morons won't be able to differentiate between the two. Reduced to its simplest form Internet is merely communication between a network of computers. Take it away and what do we resort to? Lots of phone calls, letters, etc. The same stuff gets done but at a snail's pace.

  • If you're going to concoct some sort of crack conspiracy theory you should first of all learn how your damn computer works. Cookies are text files that are generated on (and only on) your computer as a check to see if you have prepopulated a form or visited a web page already (e.g., logged into a web account).

  • If it wasn't for the internet, the American people wouldn't get to see the truth about what is going on in the middle east or even in our own country. Our mainstream media censors everything and tries to keep us in a bubble. The internet lets us see everyone's side of the story, not just what the special interest groups want us to see. Good Journalists lose their jobs because their boss tries makes them print/speak entertainment instead of real news! It's all about Money and The Ratings!

  • he is not blaming internet itself and he does understand fully that it will not go away, point is some characteristics of internet has been manipulated by those without any credentials on any of the things they talk about on the net diluting the quality of journalism and other information on the web that are legit and need to be advertised more.

  • The sad thing is that people STILL AREN'T GETTIN THE TRUTH ON THE INTERNET. even the internet is strongly filtered.... and the truth was available PRIOR TO THE INTERNET. Great authors like Chomsky and Ed Said were always around. Even with the internet, the truthsayers are not being sufficiently heard. The internet is amplifying stupidity and lurid and obscene material, while, paradoxically, DISTRACTING PEOPLE FROM SEEKING OUT THE TRUTH. it's sad.

  • man, you have no idea of what's going on in the middle east... the internet is giving us a false sense of enlightenment... the most important information is still WELL GUARDED BY THE ELITE. the internet, instead, is being used by the military to monitor you're every activity (via cookies) and will be used to CONTROL THE MASSES.

  • @Takrosh509 The Internet is not the Web, the Web is an evil standard less de facto technology created subversively by Europe and those Godless Bastards at CERN!
