The action of the rioters in London right now are the culture learning from Web 2.0. YouTube is one of the main players in the free for all abandonment of law and discipline amongst youth. YouTube and the Web have shown people a world were people don't have to pay for other peoples product/work, what we are seeing in London is the youth who have learned from YT et al that you can steal en masse and get away with. And what is this bullshit about the Internet lowering the quality of information? There will always exist good and bad sources. Only morons won't be able to differentiate between the two. Reduced to its simplest form Internet is merely communication between a network of computers. Take it away and what do we resort to? Lots of phone calls, letters, etc. The same stuff gets done but at a snail's pace.

If you're going to concoct some sort of crack conspiracy theory you should first of all learn how your damn computer works. Cookies are text files that are generated on (and only on) your computer as a check to see if you have prepopulated a form or visited a web page already (e.g., logged into a web account).

If it wasn't for the internet, the American people wouldn't get to see the truth about what is going on in the middle east or even in our own country. Our mainstream media censors everything and tries to keep us in a bubble. The internet lets us see everyone's side of the story, not just what the special interest groups want us to see. The sad thing is that people STILL AREN'T GETTIN THE TRUTH ON THE INTERNET. even the internet is strongly filtered.... and the truth was available PRIOR TO THE INTERNET. Great authors like Chomsky and Ed Said were always around. Even with the internet, the truthsayers are not being sufficiently heard. The internet is amplifying stupidity and lurid and obscene material, while, paradoxically, DISTRACTING PEOPLE FROM SEEKING OUT THE TRUTH. it's sad.
