Health Matters: Raise the Bar for Healthy Schools

Often overlooked are LATER SCHOOL START TIMES. With many of high schools now starting in the 7 o'clock hour, and bus runs beginning at 5 or 6, school hours are out of sync w/teen sleep needs and well-recognized in the medical community as being both counterproductive and dangerous to health, safety, learning, & equity. Politics & misunderstanding have made local change difficult, even though later starts would probably do more to improve health & welfare of more kids than any other single reform
