I don't think it is... well... it really depends on how they train the animals (trick=reward or no trick = punishment)

and how they let them live... I guess if they treat them like this one and let them go outside of their cage sometimes or if they have a big enough portable cage (bigger than a train wagon)

... I know felines are really harder to train than elephants so I bet there is a lot more abuse on them but im quite sure not every circus does it.

Look on youtube and you will find videos of happy animals like crocodiles, cougars, or what not that live with people. Now you give one of those animals a choice weather to be eaten by another animal or to live and be fed by a human and I can assure you they will live with the human. Is this tiger sad? No it's playing and happy.

@noodow715 There is a big difference between tigers and chimps and dogs. Tigers and chimps are wild animals and should never be domesticated. They are meant to be free in their natural habitats. Dogs have been over generations for specific traits and have been domestictated to the point where they aren't as dangerous. Granted there are dog attacks but the risk of an attack from a tiger or chimp is greater than that of a dog attack due the fact they haven't been domesticated.
