@DTProtoss The more lean you are the more flexible you can be. Just condition your bones, meditate and practice breakfalls if you want to survive an impact.
I really appreciate the way in which you explain and exhibit your routines without any ego involved. From experience I find a lot of people try to show an exercise simply to look good but not for the actual exercise benefit in itself. But kudos to you, you're doing a grand job and I, as many others on youtube do, certainly enjoy your vids :)
Thankyou so much; I will add this to my regular practice. If you don't already have one, could you make a video on practicing balance for crescent kicks?
@whackowitch Not for that specifically, but a great way to get the hang of the balance for crescents is simply to do repetitions. I posted tutorials on crescents previously that are in my tutorials playlist which might help. But a quick tip for inside to outside crescents would be to shift your weight over your supporting leg during the first half of the kick, then during the 2nd half of the kick to shift your weight in the direction of the strike (to the outside).
I'm okay on balance when simply doing the one technique however my co-ordination and balance falls apart when I start doing a few technique together as in a combo of punches and kicks and moving about footwork etc. How could i improve that have you got any advice and drills?
@KaanAdam Slow is Smooth and Smooth is Fast. Most people concentrate on speed for combos instead of having solid technique linked by good footwork. They want Bruce Lee speed out of the gate, which doesnt happen. Slow it all down, put balance pauses (foot up) after each kick and then choose your foot placement before step down. Basically, if you cant do it smooth at a 1/10th the speed of a real combo, it will be a train wreck at speed. Slowly build up speed over months, not days. Hope that helps.
@EvVieNiamhNyx It is not so hard if u are already trained in something else..sport ,dance or anything that requires balance ,stretch and strong legs.Otherwise u dont lift enough the leg i suppose and its much easier that way
@EvVieNiamhNyx Make sure your base foot is at the same angle as Kwonkicker's in the vid or slightly less (meaning pointing forward). Most people over pivot and let their base knee buckle forward to take pressure off of the muscles from the high lift. Once you have that, lift your knee higher while keeping your body up over your hips/foot. For even more difficulty extend the leg as far as you can without letting the knee drop.
Thanks for making these videos ^o^ Espcially this one. I am an aspiring Martial Artist who has just started learning Tae-Kwon-Do and these videos have got some incredibly handy technique training and alsorts of great advice in them.
*kwonkicker* im a taekwondo player and my instructor always get angry on me because of my accuracy sometimes my kick well land not on proper target can you video us *how to improve your accuracy* please
@zhareenahayre Best advice is usually the simplest.....your foot will always try to follow your eyes so sight your target as early as possible and keep your eyes firmly fixed on it.
I am new to TKD (5 months) and have used several of your tutorials to strengthen or enhance what we cover in class. But I must tell you, this isone of your best so far for a beginner.
So many tutorials online neglect new students and post as if we are Black Belts. I have very flat feet (but refuse to use that as an excuse not to excel at TKD or Hapkido) and this drill helps immensely!
@wpniabbc Yes it should be. When kids are that young they are more flexible than usual so they wont have to worry about that later. Flexibility is very important in taekwondo. Plus starting early means he will have alot of expirience when hes already grown. I hope you consider him being involved in martial arts because he will really benefit from it
First watched this vid the day it was posted. Since then iv'e been doing this drill a few times a week before stretching and i certainly have noticed an improvement in my balance and leg strength. Would definitely recomend, especially for beginners. Thanks a lot Kwonkicker keep up the great vids.
I'm a real rookie because I've only just got my yellow tag (!) so these should be really helpful in improving balance and consolidating between classes. Your videos are really clear and you explain the stages really nicely. Thank you - there's something for everyone, not just the scary black belts who stand at the back of the class!!
Great tutorials can you make one on how to throw the Katsunori Kikuno liver kick. It's like a front kick but on an angle. Kikuno lands it with the balls of his feet and is pretty affective with it. I have been trying it out but can't quite get it down.
@kwonkicker I meant more like when you attack/leg block first, then leave your leg in the air because of inertia or you want to use as a block or a bait, and you get attacked/have to dash in but there's no time to put it on the ground... advancing/retreating/dodging like 2 or 3 steps, tops.
Hey man ... NIce tute ... i did my balance training by doing an excercise that traceurs do ... find a rail and walk on it , really taught me how to use the balls of my feet to maintain balance ...however i will definately be doing three sets of this tomorrow in my workout .. i have a question for you ... you got any useful advice on dealing with multiple assailants? two to three any help would really be helping me out.Be Like water my friend Good luck. Fare well.
@DaJojo2000 man yeah thats sorta what happened first it was a 1 on 5 i was alone half way through them holding me down and beating the shit out of me about five of my mates jumped in i was proud because they finally understood how important it was to stand up for themselves. When the odds were slightly stacked against my opponents , their cohones seemed somewhat shaken. i lol'd at their faces as i troll'd their asses while finally being able to deliver the pain i'd felt so often!
@stuffmaxim I'm no expert at this, but from what I've heard (when the fight is inevitable)you are adviced to strike first or as fast as possible. Depending on your martial art, go for areas that are potentially vulnerable or even deadly.
@dangkoen Well the confrontation has already happened and i held my own long enough for me to feel comfortable fighting them after that it was all about reacting to them ... not letting them surround me though i took some hits i made sure i inflicted pain though. Thankyou for the advice what you said is a useful thing to keep in mind.
@stuffmaxim Line them up and knock them down. Basically, your number one priority is minimizing the number of attacks that can be thown at you at once, so use one person as a moving obstacle for the other. Every time 2 of them line up hit the one closest with a nice hard straight line tech that creates distances and set up for circular motion from the person behind. Rinse and repeat. Alternatively you can just kick the first person that enters range so hard that they die. Then smile.
@Vman9484 Maybe, but I find this kind of drill to be actually harder to do than that drill you're suggesting. Or is it that you're imagining it in a different way than I am?
@MasterMacLeod I was referring to when he goes from front kick chamber to round kick chamber without putting his foot down. I was wondering if adding a side kick chamber to the mix would make it a little more advanced.
Great tuto but I still have a problem, I can't raise my feet as high as you do when I try the side way :/ It's ok for the front one but the side just hurts too much
@AkiraSyk for the side practice lifting your leg a few inches from the ground(like 1 inch) hold it for as long as you want then put your foot back on the ground next pick it up again this time lift it a little bit higher hold it put your foot back on the ground. keep doing this until you fill comfortable with the stance then you'll be able to left it higher and higher (and each time you lift it higher and higher) also do the warm ups in the beginning it will help too
