I love Rahman and his music. But Jai Ho is not his best work. Period. Undeserving of this particular victory. His score and songs from Bombay, Roja, Dil Se... are the ones to really cherish. Jai Ho and O Saaya were nominated and won because SM is a British film.

@Linkadu yeah. it's mostly cuz slumdog millionaire had that starting from nothing to being at oscars thing and their song was catchy and a very good performance. they shouldn't have done it mixed it. down to earth was overpowered by the upbeat song and you couldn't really hear how amazing john legend was.

Whoever had the idea of combining all three songs hopefully got fired... Each of them deserved their respective, separate performance like they did in years past (and back then they had 5 nominees). No wonder Peter Gabriel decided not to participate!!

To make things worse, they completely nixed the song performances last year, which was even stupider. Thank God they're bringing them back this year!!!

Down to earth is my favorite song full of love u have to feel it its very sweet. but the "Jay ho" actually so powerful and impacts so suddenly and brings an adrenalin rush in the blood that its impossible to ignore this fact. I would say both are winner because both are sweet in their own respective way.
