I now know why my Dad pronounces Chips like "Sheeps". Laos was colonized by the French and he grew up learning French. Then we came to Canada and I thought he just had really bad English! This whole time he was just pronouncing it in French! My parents also say Chocolate and Coffee in French instead of English. I think they would've fit in more in Quebec.

Parce que le "un assortiment de biscuits", je suis pas sûre qu'un anglais va pouvoir réutiliser ce mot correctement et encore moins au bon moment (à moins de lui avoir expliqué ce qu'est un assortiment... ) Je dis un anglais mais c'est valable pour toutes les autres nationalités...

Je parle un peu français. Tu peux ecrire les phrases en français si tu veux. Et le passè composè de la verbe "to write" en anglais est "wrote" pas "writed" c'est irrégulière.

"chocolatine" is used by few regions of france. In bretagne they don't know this expression.

It is the same problem for a pen. Crayon gris, crayon de papier, crayon à papier, crayon de bois. There are many translations but only one expression is used in a region.
