  • i was going to seel my guitar because i could not drop tune it easy.what i've always been searching for!

  • Will it work on a seven-string guitar? (working on the low B string)

  • Should we take it out while restringing and put the orginal screw back and do it again?

  • @MrFrancescosmusic man that is a damn good idea!!

  • Man.. You just saved my life.. I didn't install my D-Tuna and my guitar just got out of tune. When i tryed to tune it, I got crazy hahahah

Thanks for the video! Now I know how to tune it!

  • but will it work for whole step down to drop c?

  • @MrFrancescosmusic If it has a Floyd Rose

  • Thanks for the tutorial! A+

  • GR8 job! Simple & effective.

  • To the point and simple. Thanks for the vid.

  • Is it possible to use it on all the strings?

  • @ebihn14 it will get kinda expensive dude, each d tuna costs 60 euros. if you want to easily down whole step just buy a morpheus droptune

  • Good video,good quality ;)

  • can u do this on a Ibanez zr tremolo?

  • how do u block your trem?

  • @JasontheGuitargod never mind i got it

  • but doesn't it affect the other strings tuning ?

  • AMAZING !

  • hey can someone help me with this? i have an 84 original floyd rose, its not floating (i can only lower the pitch) and i have the d tuna. when i tune to D with the d tuna all the way out, and lock it like your supposed to, when i push it in to get the E, i only get an E flat, and when i tighten the tiny allen screw up so it is an E i can't pull the d tuna back out, or if i can it goes back to an Eb. Am I doing something wrong or do i need a newer original floyd?

  • This work also with Droppened C, droppened B and Droppened A ?

  • Why doesnt this work on Sterling AX-40's???? I mean come on, the original Van Halen ones had these one them!!!

  • it wouldn't work on a full floating anyway as if you took the top string down a whole step it would send all the other strings sharp.

  • can i use it on my Prs custom?

  • thanks for showing the tiny wrench. had no friggin clue what that was for!

  • if i keep my guitar in d stranded can i go in to drop c with this

  • @aj2361 Yes.

  • Is it easy enough to take off the d-tuna and re-install the old lock-screw?

  • absolutely - yes. I've done it before. I had an Ibanez RG that I blocked and put in the D-Tuna and switched back to floating.

  • Now that was worth my time !

    Thanks for sharing this one

  • @gibby1117 do the rest of the strings stay in pitch when you drop/bring it back up?

  • could i use this on a Ibanez Edge III?

  • Is there any tremolo that isn't a pain in the ass but i get all the pinch bendy goodness? oh you know what, fuck this shit ima buy a whammy pedal....

  • thankyou so much dude. i never actually knew about that little alan hole. lol

  • Thanks!! Really easy to install!

  • well done at last a proper lesson in how to install a d tuna i have two wolfies and needed to know how to tune guitar and set intonation and all that . . . . this was very helpfull tks for posting cheers pete

  • Would this stop me from doing those Dimebag style divebombs on a origional floyd rose installed guitar?

  • @Tonesnob72

Will this work on a floating bridge with a tremolo block installed?

  • Does this work on a OFR II.

  • you make look doing this so easy

  • In theory could you put one of these on each string and swap between Drop D and Drop C?

  • is it possible to have this on a ibanez floyd? and could i put this to drop c and work as well?

  • @Treythemusician Im sure it could seeing as C is similar to standard in the way that the tuning positions are the same in theory.

  • @cmzangetsu1993 could it work for a ibanez edge pro II ?

  • @Treythemusician If it has a Floyd Rose yes. Though I don't have a D-Tuna on my Dean ML which is in C it should be fine. The only issue with a floyd of course is getting the proper string tension

  • @Treythemusician Most likely not, I heard that this can only be used on original Floyd Roses only, Ibanez has their own line of floating trems, that differ in many ways to the actual floyd roses

  • I wish it worked with a floating bridge.

  • LOVE ME TUNA!

  • You're welcome

  • Look, if you want the d tuna to work on your Floyd rose tremolo, you must first purchase a tremol-no and install it on your guitar. The tremol-no is a revolutionary product that let's you put your floyd into hardtail mode, dive bomb only mode and regular Floyd mode. For the d tuna, you must put it in either hardtail mode or dive only mode so when you use the d tuna, there isn't less tension on your strings and they don't all go out of tune. Just remember, you can't pull back with a d tuna. You'

  • I have The Floyd Edge Pro. I'm guessing this is not compatible?

  • sir, will this work with a floyd rose special? I'm planning to get a Dean Michael Batio model guitar, and it has a floyd rose special, not original.

  • can u use the d-tuna on locking floyd rose tremelos?

  • @DefyingRiot86 yes except for the ibanez edge one

  • can this be used on a floating trem? like on a dean ML?

  • @Glazeman11 you can set it on, but once you tune down to D, since theres less tension, all strings will go sharp.

  • PLEASE READ: If I add a D Tuna to my floating floyd rose will I still be able to pull up on it or will i be limited to dive bombing?

  • @MASTERninja23z - Your ability to pull up should be affected very little if at all.

  • @MASTERninja23z U CXANT USE D-TUNA ON ANY FLOATING FLOYD ROSE TREMELO!!!! WHEN YOU ENGAGE IT TO E ALL THE OTHER STRINGS ARE OUT OF TUNE...YOU MUST BUY A TREMEL-NO TO WORK WITH ANY FLOYD ROSE TREMELOS, NO WAY AROUND IT!

  • @Tonesnob72 Yeah I bought it awhile back and it wasn't worth the trouble so im gonna sell it :P

  • would it be possible to place a d-tuna on all 6 strings? so instead of just drop d, you could just drop the guitar to d standard?

  • @flashinmahcash -the amount of change in combined string tension would wreak havoc on your guitar's intonation set up. I don't imagine that working, but I could be wrong.

  • can you still do up bends properly?

  • @bondical - Absolutely.

  • Is it possible to have a d- tuna on all of the strings at the same time?

  • @Tiberiusize - You can, but I don't think it would result in the desired affect.

  • Brilliant "how to" video!! Huge thanks for posting it!!

  • @sevenstringbassist - thanks :)

  • Can I put it on a Ibanez ZR bridge

  • @10Musicpizzaman01 - I'd imagine so, if the bridge screws in the back were the same as what comes packaged in the D-tuna kit.

  • Thanks! I just had one lying around in a parts bin and tossed it on a guitar...your instructions made it easy. Thanks for taking the time to post this!

  • @tradarama - Thanks, man :)

  • So, can someone give me a good explanation on how to do this if my FR can go up AND down? Because it seems this thing only works on the ones that can dive.

  • @uwishuwerme14 you can't.

  • @uwishuwerme14 If you want full floating as an option AND a D-Tuna, get a tremol-no. It's still an either/or proposition, but at least that way you do have both options. Just keep the D-Tuna in E position when you're set to full float and set the tremol-no to dive only or hardtail when you want to be able to drop down to D.

  • @uwishuwerme14 - The guitar I used in this video can only dive...

  • @uwishuwerme14 You can use it on a floating trem, I know i'm going to, but it does put the strings out of tune as the tension changes when you mess around with the d-tuna. I blocked my floyd in preparation for this as I do not want a floyd that's gonna mess up on me as soon as I drop tune it.

    Hope this helps.

  • is it possible to have 6 d tunas? like e standard to d standard?

  • can it use for lower tuning such as Drop B,bro? thanks

  • @Shinra241 - The D-tuna is really only designed to drop pitch by 1 whole step.

  • @gibby1117 I realise it's not really possible to use the D-tuna to drop more than a whole step, but is it possible to use it to drop just a half-step? I.e. from E to Eb?

Thanks for the helpful video, by the way!

  • @SamPabloKuper - hmmm... maybe. Don't know bout that one. But am also not sure how useful that would be. lol :)

  • @gibby1117 I wrote a song that switches from standard tuning to drop-Eb halfway through. At the moment, my only option is to use a V-Guitar system.

Since you have a D-tuna to hand, would you mind trying it out for dropping only a half-step? Thanks :)

  • @gibby1117 So if you'r in C#, can you use it to go down to Drop B?

  • @FlyingVFan - I would imagine so.

  • @gibby1117 what if u was in c standard

  • @Shinra241 Yes, years ago I used it on a 7-string dropping the B to an A w/ great results.

  • @Shinra241 well if your in c standard than yes it will tune to drop b

  • @Shinra241 - It's only designed to drop down by 1 whole step.

  • @gibby1117 if you have a stantard b-tuning, can i use it for drop b???

  • @DeathProductions123 Yeah... basically all it does is drop the low e (or low C if you wanna drop to drop B) string down one whole step. so if you'r E standard it will drop the low E one whole step to D making it dropped D. i hope that makes sense :)

  • @gibby1117 so from C# that would be?

  • @271189a B or D# depending which way

  • @McDouchebag22 yeah but what Shinra241 is asking is, if your in a tuning other than Etoe can you drop D, the answer is yes you can drop D from any tuning that is what the thing is designed for so if your in C# then your can drop a whole step to drop B on the low E, why would you set your guitar up in Eb to then be able to drop the low Eb to C#, that just makes the fingerings difficult/impossible?

  • @Shinra241 actually I would think so but only if your in c tuning so you can drop to b in the first place

  • @Shinra241 But if you've got your guitar set up in C#, this will drop you to Drop B

  • @Shinra241 I guess you need to tune to Standard C# and this will drop the 6th string 1 whole step, getting you to B

  • Hi, does the fine-tuner works when D-tuna is installed. I don't want to tune with allen wrench when tuning the 6th string live...

  • Man I gotta buy like 6 of these :D

it would make drop tuning a snap

  • theres no way to put one of these to a les paul right?

  • @Wakatempo why wouldn't you just turn the tuning peg? it's not hard to just turn it fast down to D...

  • @rockfreak611 yeah your right...i really didn't thought that through... thanks anyway

  • @rockfreak611 This is for a guitar with a locking nut and Floyd rose, the locking nut clamps the string down so turning the tuning peg won't affect the string pitch, the point of a Floyd is to Keep the strings perfectly in tune when using a whammy bar. The only way to affect the tuning with the tuning peg is to use a hex key and unscrew the locking nut, which really isn't convienent if you need to change tunings fast.

  • @1xDRCx i was responding to another comment that was asking about using one on a les paul (non-locking, of course). I understand how floyds work.

  • :48 does that mean i cant fine tune the e string anymore and can i still do pullups on the bar

  • :48 does that mean i cant fine tune the e string anymore

  • what type of guitars does this work in? iva got a fender squier strat and a fender telecaster do any of those work with this?

  • @jccbm this is for floyd-rose/locking tremolos only. cause when you're locked, you can't easily change tuning. with your strat and tele you should be able to do this just as quickly with a little ear training... unless your guitars have locking trems, than i guess it'd work

  • do you have to fine tune every time you switch? or just when you initially set up the system?

  • Comment removed

  • Can I install this on a guitar with a recessed floyd (Jackson DK2S)? Thanks

  • i have a question. can you putthe evh d tuna on all the strings or just the low e string

  • would you have to keep the floating trem blocked all the time or just when you install it

  • @crazyguitardude666 you can't use the D-tuna with a floating tremolo, you have to block it at least in one direction

  • If im in a 1 step down tuning, will it work to tune D into C ???

  • @ImaginativeBrowsing all the d tuna does is drop the low e one step down so yeah if you in like B for example, and you use it, it will go down to drop B

  • so what does it do?

  • @AdamHarveysMusic1 it allows you to tune a guitar with an FR bridge to tune down to drop d that simply... you can try dropping it down without it, it'll take you forever. cause you'll mess up the other strings.

  • Will this work on a non-Floyd Rose guitar?

  • @animefanclay

No. Non floyd rose guitars dont have this bridge and those screws so NO.

  • My friend has a seven string with floyd and has a d-tuna on both 7th and 6th strings, that configuration is amazing for any seven string guitarists wondering about this.

  • Also, you should probably just go ahead with a fresh set of strings. I put the D-Tuna on and tried to use the original E string and chased tune for freakin' ever.

  • Just a note the D tuna has to be completely clear of the bridge in the D (pulled out) position, otherwise it will put slight pressure on the spring arm. If the replacement screw isn't resting freely against the micro tuner, then you may have to back the saddle piece out a little bit to provide the clearance you need. A millimeter or two won't thrown the string too far out of intonation. Checking intonation by comparing the 12th fret note fretted to the 12th fret nat harmonic. They should match.

  • Perfect. Just the thing I need for when I'm in the mood to play something heavy :) Thanks for the vid.

  • @ChaosTheory602 - glad to help :)

  • @gibby1117 is it just as easy to uninstall. please reply asap because i might get a guitar with a d tuna already installed from ebay. if im not able to pull of the bar then i want to know if i can just take the d tuna off.(im really only getting it because its the guitar i want for a good price, i dont really care for the d tuna)

please reply asap because there is not much time on the offer

    THANK YOU.

  • will it work with a vintage tremelo bridge?

  • I'm thinking of getting one for my Ibanez. It has a Low-profile Edge Pro. Does it work with those? And it says will work for dropping the E string to D, so presumably if I'm in C, I can drop the C to Bb?

  • instructions are included with the package and pretty straight forward. However, the spring included in with my D-tuna is a little weak; when I dump the vibrato w/the D-tuna in the "out-position", upon releasing the bar the D-tuna slides midway into the "in-position", making the guitar go slightly out of tune. Perhaps in the future the included spring will be a bit stronger...IMO

  • does it work wit any FR system? not recessed of course? like sayy for a fast loader?

  • @Lilrocker5150 - I'd imagine. The guitar w a FR bridge at all is this Music Man.

  • Can I put this on every string? so I can go from Standard to D standard?

  • @haropro2 that's actually a pretty cool idea

  • @xxNailFirexx Yeah but....would it work?

  • @haropro2 That would be pointless. You'd be spending $300 on this one accessory. You could just buy another $300 guitar for the different tuning.

  • @haropro2 i honestly believe it can

  • I'm having the same issue as the other guy where it's near impossible to slide out, and actually I just had one put on (buy the same guy) that is so loose it feels like it'll fall off at some point. What exactly adjusts the push/pull tension? What difference does the screw length make (ya I know, thats what she said) and how do you determine which length to use?

  • Does it work on a floating bridge tremolo?

  • @BoChi0131 - it absolutely will.

  • Hi. I have a guitar that has a back box, you know? Do you think to work properly I would have to block my bridge? Because all the strings tension will change when I tune down, right? Have you ever tried in a guitar like mine? I appreciate...

  • When you use the Dtuna to go from E to D on the lowest E string, to the rest of the strings pitch get altered? Also, the Dtuna screw looks like its very close to the body of the guitar... If you thereotically broke a few strings or tuned down too low, wouldnt the bridge sink into the body enough to were the Dtuna scrapes up the body of the guitar?? Thanks looks awesome though by the way

  • @Xxd3cayxX - 1st answer: Use of the D-tuna in either position will not alter the pitch of any of the other strings. 2nd answer: I don't think you could break enough strings to have the force necessary for the D-tuna mechanism to touch the body. Thanks for the questions - hope that helps :)

  • Thank you SOOOO much for making this video. Now my D-Tuna actually works!

  • @chrisaxisallareas - Very very glad it helped.

  • s if i put it on i cant do any dive bombs.

  • @MYkillingFETISH - yes you can.

  • @gibby1117 ,Dude if it's on i won't be able to Pull Up the Bar?

  • @DrEviscerator666 it won't fit on a floating floyd rose

  • will this fit on my ibanez rg350mdx?

it has an edge 3 tremolo.

so its still a floyd rose

  • @Untouchable787 - to my knowledge, the D-Tuna should work on any Floyd Rose.

  • After watching this Im pissed in paying a guy to do it!

  • he could you tell me this????

i play in drop c and d standard tunings. if i were to tune my guitar down to d standard( its exactly like standard but is a whole step down) and if i used the evh d tuna, i could go to drop c???

  • @alexijunior13 - I think so. Same principle just a bit of a bigger pitch gap (not in steps obviously, but in the actual travel the D-tuna would have to make)

  • Just wondering, would this work on a seven string guitar? But instead of using it on the E, using it on the B to drop to an A. Just wondering, it would save so much time, hassle and I wouldn't have to switch guitars. I think the length and extra thickness of the string would effect the tuning. But not too sure. Any insight would be great help.

  • @MetalMilkMan - it's the same principle, I don't see why it wouldn't. Only issue I can think of is string thickness, but I'd say it's worth a try.

  • @gibby1117 Was thinking of getting one for my other guitar anyway, so might just give it a shot while I have it. I'll be sure to post the results.

  • @MetalMilkMan - good thinking. At least you'll have use for it one way or another.

  • How is the thumb screw not needed any more? What if you have fine tuning adjustments to do in the future?

  • @kbstarrider - the thumbscrew isn't needed anymore because the fine adjuster on the D-tuna itself serves the same purpose (but only in "E" mode of course). If you do use the thumbscrew, the D-tuna will put you out of tune when you switch it to the other position. You shouldn't need adjustments to the D-tuna unless you're changing your tuning altogether - like going from E standard to a half step down.

  • Ok, I have to use the longer screw with mine. I can set it up right, AT FIRST. But when I put the D-Tuna "IN" for E, all my other strings sharpen noticably. I have a floating bridge and I have blocked it too

  • @jonpinkerton there's no way your bridge is blocked properly if the strings are sharpening, that's exactly what happens if it's not blocked.

  • Great job.. Thanks!

  • This video is fucking fantastic. Thank you! :D

  • mine didint work as well as yours, ive got it set up and stuff but when its all done its REALLY hard to pull in and out

  • @goku12002 - 1st, "That's What She Said". 2nd, try the longer lock screw included with your D-tuna. My guess is that you've used the shorter.

  • when i put this on my guitar will i still be able to push the floyd rose back words so my pitch goes higher?

  • @adfrocker133 - Sure. Not sure to what degree tho. The end tip of the D-tuna is about half an inch above the top of my guitar (which doesn't float and won't let me pull up as you can). I'd imagine that's high enough to still let you get a decent amount of pull up.

  • @gibby1117 so the drop d tuner will work with guitars that have the little pit thing under th floyd rose i mean i sound stupid but i'm just curious

  • @adfrocker133 - I don't think that would affect it adversely at all.
