In answer to your question mate. Yes i have done it. I was in the British Army for 18 years with the Parachute Regiment. I know for a fact the British SAS are the best in the World! Ive trained with the US Forces and they all admit we are the best. Besides our SAS train all other Special Forces in the world. FACT!!

The UK SAS are the fittest, and best trained Special Forces in the World!! Our SAS train all other Special Forces in the World. None ever come up to the standard. UK SAS Selection takes 1 Year. US SEALS 14 weeks! The pass rate for SAS Selection is only about 3% each year. The Australian and NZ SAS are the only other Special Forces on par, With the Selection Standards the same as in UK SAS.

@theUDTfrogman uhh well you can say what you want. But first, the SEALs main task and specialty is recon, being stealth. Hostage extractions or whatever are done by PJ's (airforce's SF), Delta as well. What I mean is that they are all qualified to do the job, but they usually have one SF to do a certain type of work. A really good book I recommend is "The Lonely Survivor" about the SEALS. Anyway, any real Military guy wont talk shit about other Teams or Operators.
I was there for three classes many years ago. It was a good time and a good experience. No I didn't make it through and if you dont make it through you get treated like shit out in the fleet. The term "Buds DuD" is something that is used out in the fleet. You are labeled before you go to your command, so don't join if you aren't certain about it. It took me years of work and being squared away to get away from being labeled. Good luck to all that try.
All branches are important in their own way; Navy- death from the sea/sky(seals on ground too); USMC- damn good at killing; Army- death from ground and sky; USAF-death from the sky. They should all be honored and respected. I plan on going into the Army in a few years and I hope people of different branches will look about me in the same way as I will them.

seals and delta force are the most highly trained not just in warfare but espionage for seals if its not for them then im so sure seal team 6 or devgru knows about espionage these guys are the best marksmen in the military they learn how to shoot in close range of each other without using their sights while their bullets fly inches away from their buddies. in a way it is a race but we all work for a common cause but some groups are better trained and better at what they do.

I'm not taking anything away from Navy Seals but my question is, If Navy Seals are such badasses and everyone says they are better than Green Berets then why weren't they the first ones into Afghanistan from our Armed Forces??? If Navy Seals can do everything better than any other US Spec Ops, then why did Green Berets get there first? Why is the commander of all US Forces in Afghanistan a Green Beret? Why have the majority of SOCOM Commanders been Green Berets? Can anyone answer that???
The Navy SEALS weren't the first ones in Afghanistan because generally Navy SEALS do not interfere in matters of politics and international coalition on foreign soil, while the Green Berets have a greater part to play in those matters.
Determining why the commander of the US Troops in Afghanistan is a "Green Beret" (actually known as Army Special Forces) is irrelevant.
A good commander isn't necessarily the best SPEC OPS soldier.
why does it matter who went first? they all went shortly after...and maybe the green berets set of skills(which are way diffrent from seals) were needed first everything in the millitary is done for a tactical reason not as a race to prove one is better than the other
Special Forces were some of the first troops in as part of General Tommy Franks plan to use indigenous forces to rout the Taliban. He did not want a conventional war (lesson learned from the Soviet invasion). Since Special Foces are best suited for training indigenous forces, they were the first in. SEALs are primarily used for direct action and special reconnaisance missions in Afghanistan. Both did/do a crucial role in Afghanistan.
All special forces have diffrent roles. Green Berets were in first not to specificaly fight but to act as ambasadors of the US goverment to try and recruit clans to fight with the USA against the taliban and they did a good job of that. Not saying thats all they do they also do direct action. I do not know however what Navy seals did during that time

i mean i just checked and they say : Navy SEAL, one must be a native-born or naturalized United States citizen, and must speak, read and write English fluently. and i speak read and write english fluently plus i'm naturalized i spent more time in north america than france ^^
well when i got my diver contract they were really strict with me being born here and haveing american citizens as parents and with my buddies that got their seal contract they were even more strict about them being born here and parents who were citizens. if you read it online, there is a very good chance the policy has changed since that was posted seeing as how the navy is 150% full for 2010, they are cutting back on new recruits. best thing is to ask a recruiter or SpecOps mentor.

@theUDTfrogman uhh well you can say what you want. But first, the SEALs main task and specialty is recon, being stealth. Hostage extractions or whatever are done by PJ's (airforce's SF), Delta as well. What I mean is that they are all qualified to do the job, but they usually have one SF to do a certain type of work. A really good book I recommend is "The Lonely Survivor" about the SEALS. Anyway, any real Military guy wont talk shit about other Teams or Operators.

I was there for three classes many years ago. It was a good time and a good experience. No I didn't make it through and if you dont make it through you get treated like shit out in the fleet. The term "Buds DuD" is something that is used out in the fleet. You are labeled before you go to your command, so don't join if you aren't certain about it. It took me years of work and being squared away to get away from being labeled. Good luck to all that try.

All branches are important in their own way; Navy- death from the sea/sky(seals on ground too); USMC- damn good at killing; Army- death from ground and sky; USAF-death from the sky. They should all be honored and respected. I plan on going into the Army in a few years and I hope people of different branches will look about me in the same way as I will them.

Comes home drunk everyday, beats me and my mom.. Got a knive too my face plenty of times and actually cut me once.. I mean it's life... I lived like this since I was 6 and you know... Living in this house and watching my back for myself and my mom, made me really independent on my own. That's why I'll never quit BUD/s, it's my life.

seals and delta force are the most highly trained not just in warfare but espionage for seals if its not for them then im so sure seal team 6 or devgru knows about espionage these guys are the best marksmen in the military they learn how to shoot in close range of each other without using their sights while their bullets fly inches away from their buddies. in a way it is a race but we all work for a common cause but some groups are better trained and better at what they do.

I'm not taking anything away from Navy Seals but my question is, If Navy Seals are such badasses and everyone says they are better than Green Berets then why weren't they the first ones into Afghanistan from our Armed Forces??? If Navy Seals can do everything better than any other US Spec Ops, then why did Green Berets get there first? Why is the commander of all US Forces in Afghanistan a Green Beret? Why have the majority of SOCOM Commanders been Green Berets? Can anyone answer that???

The Navy SEALS weren't the first ones in Afghanistan because generally Navy SEALS do not interfere in matters of politics and international coalition on foreign soil, while the Green Berets have a greater part to play in those matters.
Determining why the commander of the US Troops in Afghanistan is a "Green Beret" (actually known as Army Special Forces) is irrelevant.
A good commander isn't necessarily the best SPEC OPS soldier.

why does it matter who went first? they all went shortly after...and maybe the green berets set of skills(which are way diffrent from seals) were needed first everything in the millitary is done for a tactical reason not as a race to prove one is better than the other

Special Forces were some of the first troops in as part of General Tommy Franks plan to use indigenous forces to rout the Taliban. He did not want a conventional war (lesson learned from the Soviet invasion). Since Special Foces are best suited for training indigenous forces, they were the first in. SEALs are primarily used for direct action and special reconnaisance missions in Afghanistan. Both did/do a crucial role in Afghanistan.

All special forces have diffrent roles. Green Berets were in first not to specificaly fight but to act as ambasadors of the US goverment to try and recruit clans to fight with the USA against the taliban and they did a good job of that. Not saying thats all they do they also do direct action. I do not know however what Navy seals did during that time

i mean i just checked and they say : Navy SEAL, one must be a native-born or naturalized United States citizen, and must speak, read and write English fluently. and i speak read and write english fluently plus i'm naturalized i spent more time in north america than france ^^

well when i got my diver contract they were really strict with me being born here and haveing american citizens as parents and with my buddies that got their seal contract they were even more strict about them being born here and parents who were citizens. if you read it online, there is a very good chance the policy has changed since that was posted seeing as how the navy is 150% full for 2010, they are cutting back on new recruits. best thing is to ask a recruiter or SpecOps mentor.
