Same goes for Augmented reality - the applications of which are to my mind, 'virtually' unlimited.

The 3d virtual revolution is taking so damn long to happen. Corporations need to employ better futurologists and think tanks - either that or they're genuinely 'on the ball' but first want to roll out the crap they dumped R&D money into years ago. (Hint: the latter)

The first incarnation of VRML was standardised (by W3C) as early as 1994, I think (possibly even earlier) - but do we have anything resembling a true 3d web in 2009? No...
