- Getting back to Billinge. Billinge is split between two administration areas, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

None of Billinge is under the administration of Lancashire, which is now history as far as Billinge is concerned.

The Lancashire County Palatine is, nowadays, only a fraction of the size that it once was, and what's more, Billinge isn't part of it.

@topscuttler actually, the County Palatine of Lancaster remains the same, if not larger to encompass the appointed High Sheriffs of merseyside, and greater manchester. the Ceremonial County, and Administrative areas of Lancashire have shrunk - but a place is defined by many different and abstract things, so excuse me whilst i refer to Billinge as in Lancashire. :)

Finally, as a place, with a name, Billinge is still the same place as it was in the 11th century AD, regardless of who, what or where has the rights to administer over it.

I cycled through Billinge many times in my younger days and always going over Billinge 'Bump' (Lump). It has many beautiful sights and places. How many of you remember the cafe half way up the hill comimg from Crank? 5 from me *****

Merseyside is purely an administation area. Billinge is 100% Lancashire, Lancashire is the Historic County Palatine of Lancaster and to this day still exists.

Great video...unbelievable to think that there is such beautiful scenerey between wigan and st helens lol..i loved growing up there from a baby til 18..cool animation of the clouds going over the field's fast...glad my parents still live there by banks park...i will inherit the family house and return there to live one day..BRILLIANT THANX

Why is this video called Billinge, 'Lancashire'?

Billinge 'village' is in Merseyside and the small outlying bit, called Higher End, is in Greater Manchester!

Becuase Genuine Billingers feel Lancastrian, look at the video, does it resemble Liverpool or Manchester to you? no, it looks like Lancashire, the people sound like Lancashire and have that smile and eagerness to great you as only a Lancastrian can do !!
