@Ninjazombieslyr you need to teach her that taking a bath is not a bad thing to do so that she's not afraid of water. A calming and soothing tone and slow steps are a way to start.
Lucky. My cats freak out if they even see enough water for a paw soaking. I put them in the bath tub and they try to turn around and climb up my arm. And the girl, Mystery, gives me an evil glare for hours afterward. Her brother, Miracle, gets over it after hiding near a heater for a 1/2 hour. I've gotten so many scratches from them. I let them out as little as possible. Mystery is easier to keep indoors since she refuses to go out unless the weather is perfect. But Miracle likes any weather. :P
Ragdolls are amazing. I bath mine too, because she likes to go out a lot, especially when its nice and warm, although she goes out when its snow too. She is just like your cat, she will just sit and wait when I am done.
What is just SOOOOO FUNNY is that through all of that, the cat looks he's trying to do everything he can just to stay awake...lolol I have GOT to get me one of those. Great post
That was just TOOOOOO precious! Mimi, our lil Ragdoll is such a joy as well, but she doesn't really like bathtime or blowdrying, so I've taken to sponge bathing her & lettiing her air dry. You are so lucky!
I agree with Oliver8111. Not only do they not need washing, but it makes them nervous. It's unsettling for them. You shouldn't do this.. wash and then blow dry.. omg the nerves on that poor cat must be shot. Poor thing.
Notice that the cat isn't trying to get away? Actually all cats can benefit from a good bath but most aren't as agreeable since they aren't acclimated at an early age. And all of my animals, including my Ragdoll, LOVE to be vacuumed!! The secret is to keep the noise a distance away.
I love this breed, I had one named BLUEBERRY, but we had to sedate him because he had a terrible tumor :( . I miss him so much, he came to our family on his own free will.
my ragdoll hates the water ugghhh.. the only time he got wet was when he was being adventurous and was walking on the side of the bathtub, slipped and fell right in!!! it was so funny but i felt bad for him cuz he got really shook up. im never gonna forget that
how often do u bath your cats. as we are hoping to get a ragdoll and im searching all over the internet for information on them. please write back. thanks lucia xx
Fantastic video!. After reading everyones comments I would like to say that having bred Ragdolls for 11 years the thing to remember is they are all different personalities. Some of ours will let you bath them like the one in the video, but a couple of them would scratch you to pieces if you tried!!, and all ours are traditional Ragdolls that have not been outcrossed to other breeds. Ragdolls are fab cats, but they are not carbon copies of each other, they are all different.
I have two ragdolls and wash them regularly. They are even softer as a result of bathing. I starting bathing them when they were quite young. They also don't mind getting their claws trimmed afterwards. Nothing like a spa bath and pedicure for your ragdoll!
i disagree if they have short hair they are perfectly able to wash themselves i agree on that account but if they have long hair, they can't lick themselves clean because that would give them a serious hairball!!!
Geez! When my ragdolls were really young we gave them flea baths and I still have scars from it!! Hopefully they calm down with age! (I've heard they do; mine are only 6 months right now and hyper as can be!)
he looks so comfy. And having it sped up 4x gives it a bit of humour. If we only moved that fast I doubt my cat would think to know what was going on :)
Wow, that cat is really calm and looks as comfortable as one can get. You've done a good job making your cat feel at ease during the grooming process. :)
I wish Simba stayed like that during a bath. Usually, he just runs when he's anywhere near the bathroom (the white room is evil to him) and every time he hears the vacuum or blow dryer on, he's under my mom's bed in a split of a second.
Elwood looks like he's really enjoying his 'spa' treatment. My ragdolls hate taking baths, but I still give them baths. I like to show off their beautiful coats.
i got ragdoll cat...she's very different from the cat show here. She fights me when she's taking a bath. she's a meanie...
