lets get this straightened out for some of you...the gods cant be targeted by spells traps or monster affects what it means is you cant use things like monster destruction cards against the gods things like magic cylinder,scrap scarecrow will work to block the hits. but monster affects don't work at all unless its not targeting the gods. hope i explained it good :)

@Junayd100 everyone always gets this rule wrong. everytime the anime has multiple monsters coming out in one turn- its been a 'special summon'

normal summons are where you just play the card from your hand, including tributing specifically if the level is higher than 4. any magic, trap, or monster effect that results in getting a monster out is a special summon. and you can do as many of those as you like. the only time the rules really were screwed was in Duelist Kingdom.

@Codeblueninja actually obelisk's effect is by sacrificing 2 monsters, all cards are destroyed on the opponent's side of the field and 4000 life points are deducted from the opponent. so yugi couldn't use magic cylinder to defend. plus, how do u know yugi had magic cylinder on the field?

@Beta4535 That's the worst of Obelisk's effects.....his other anime effect ,which is called Soul Power Max, allows him to tribute 2 monster to make his attack power infinity until the end of turn. Not to mention using the destruction effect prevents Obelisk from attacking himself.

It's a shame. Ra's theme is probably the only thing 4kids ever got right and even better than the japanese original and they destroy it by making the characters shout some stupid chant that should be ancient Egyptian in English for everyone to hear. Atem's doesn't even match Marik's version so there's different "ancient chants"? In the Japanese version they're just mumbling something the viewer can't understand (as this is how it's supposed to be unless somebody had lessons in ancient Egyptian).
