please everyone!! do not watch along came a spider! it had NOTHING to do with the awesome book. that movie was bull shit even if it wasnt based on the book

ive read a lot of pattersons books, along came a spider, kiss the girls, roses are red, pop goes the weasel etc. my on problem is the villian is ALWAYS a cop or fbi agent. i love his books but the end is always the same

My first book was I, Alex Cross. I just finished reading Cross Country and have Cross and Double Cross on the shelf to be read next.

I also read Swimsuit and Beach House.

I watched Kiss the Girls and Along Came A Spider, but will be reading them in the coming months as well. We all know the books are always better than the movies.

I have not read a bad James Patterson novel yet, and I don't foresee that happening.

In my opinion, which may not count for much, in other peoples veiw, but I think that 'Cross' is perfectly portrayed by the top quality artist and actor in all such films. Morgan Freeman masters the role.

Thanks for agreeing with me! The way Alex Cross speaks I can't imagine the other popular choices (such as Jamey Foxx, Will Smith) delivering the message of the character. Dwayne Jonson is so perfect for this role. When I was in the hospital I read Pop Goes the Weasel, and Dwayne Johnson stood out as the popular choice. He is such a great underrated actor, I hope he gets this role!!! btw

The best serious minded African American actors are Samuel Jackson, Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle and Will Smith. Morgan Freeman and Samuel Jackson clearly aren't the best candidates here because of their ages they may be suitable for other roles but definitely not Alex Cross. The best candidates will be Don Cheadle, Denzel Washington (best candidate for Alex Cross) & Will Smith.

I love Morgan Freeman, but after reading all the Cross books, I think he was miscast from the get go. He's too old. I hear they're making Roses are Red into a movie, hope they do a recast. Cross is supposed to be early 40s and physically fit. Get Will Smith he's matured enough now as an actor to play him.

Cross is an absurd creation, he really is. An utterly flawless human being - that actually puts me off these books. Every woman he encounters loves him, all his family are flawless, his close friends are insufferably "good". All his opponents underestimate this god-like character. Where's the edge in a character like that? It's dull and brain-dead literature.

Admirable is easy to create - no great artestry in that. What isn't so easy is to create a character with genuine depth. Cross is a superficial character as are all Patterson's creations. But that's the point, Patterson has admitted to writing "accessible" books - meaning that they require very little in the way of thought from the reader as they are explicity told what characters are like in simplistic terms with zero sub-text.

omg i really hope he goes through with putting "CROSS" into a movie as long as its not morgan freeman. hes like 80 hes not gonna pass 4 30 or 40 or watever his age is in the book. i love the seris but i do have trouble with the fact that in all his books all of the good guys and crosses family is absolutly perfect. that there are no flaws what so ever in the kids or his lovers. there always perfect no flaws errors nothing i kind of wish that would change. like have damon associate with gangsters
