Have you ever put your name in a search bar? Well this is what came up for my name LOL What kind of music is this?I dont mind it, its just kinda unexpected. Whats he sayin?
My name is Will Smith so I kind of know what will show up :( But yeah, I'm sure what the guy above me said is right. I just was searching same bass vocalists.
what a low D! it covers the sound of the orchestra! But it's not a low D, which makes a great bass, it's the timbre in the high notes also. And in this, Kurt Moll is the master I've heard among the basses who sing this aria.
True, Russians do seem to hog the talent regarding low male voices, but this is nothing compared to some of the specialist freak basses singing in Russian sacred music choirs. I heard live in Russia low A's -(A below low F) that resonated right through the choral texture to the back of the hall!
This guy is a way better singer than any russian choirman. Opera singers aren't paid to develop freakish low notes; they're supposed to sing the notes in the song given to them and Ivashchenko does this excellently. Better than Moll. I said it.
You're right, except that Russian choral music requires these notes, and the effect is beautiful and moving. I was merely putting low notes in perspective, of course Ivashchenko is perfect for Osmin and doesn't need low As. Actually, I think he sounds a lot like Moll, but with more edge to his voice.
I'd give him about 10 years, then see how he does. For his age, the clarity of his voice on the low notes is the most impressive thing here. The triplets, as noted, are weak. The word-changing is annoying, too, but even Kurt Moll did that. As I've said, Matti Salminen is the man I prefer most for this role. I don't get why he's growling and using sprechstimme in a concert performance, either.
I really love this guy! It's a shame there's not more of his stuff around Youtube... anyway, I think he makes more of a comical Osmin than a menacing one, which is all right with me. I enjoy seeing him growl at the audience.
Chord length, thickness, chest cavity size(which is nonsense anyhow) Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the factors of resonance are the nasal and head cavities. None of it really matters compared to how good of a singer someone is. Of course you'd have to have a bass voice to start with.
chord thickness, large neck (very common but not exclusive in basses)larynx position, size of body has a lot to do... combination of everything. Connecting to the chest is connecting to support. Nasal coupling is important. everything.
I possess the low D x)

the tempi seems to vary too much in places that are supposed to stay the same tempo...

My friend, i believe you're one of the only youtuber's i've seen that took a slightly aggressive comment and replied maturely to it. Kudos to you!

The lowest note is a bottom D. He's good but a little slackness

LOL I agree! He sounds great too!

good technique, but no sense of Osmin's rage and terror toward the people he is threatening to hang. Just concertizing.

I totally agree.

Too bad he felt he had to change the words to get the low d. Limited ability in the triplet section but overall I would give him a high rating.
originalprofundo 4 years ago
He isn't in bad company here. Moll, Rydl, and plenty of other big-name bassos make the same lyric change.

typically russians have larger chest, so larger space so if the voice is low its reaaaaaaaly low..

dustmondo45 5 years ago
total rubbish. depth of voice is all about vocal chord thickness and length, all the chest will do is resonate it, not make it any lower.
ifindoubthaveafag 5 years ago
agreed. and resonance is mostly about sinus cavities and less about chest cavity.
originalprofundo 4 years ago
he has nice depth, but his technique seems limited.

Fabulous. Better than Frick or Rydl or Moll. Great low D. I'm preparing this aria today for an audition this weekend. I wish I sounded like this.
