I remember always hating Kikyo in the anime...but when Inuyasha the Final Act came around I absolutely loved her. I sobbed when she passed away there, along with Kagura and Kanna.
I was pretty sad when Kikyo passed, I was always upset when they showed the flashbacks to how Naruku set InuYasha and Kikyo against each other. Even though I like Kagome and InuYasha together. I think a lot of people undervalued Kikyo though. /:

Kikyo is my favorite character(girl character) put yourself in her shoes and try to understand how much she suffered in her life! Plus kagome is annoying and don't say cuz she's a teenager. I don't feel like we really know Kikyo at all besides the flash backs from Inuyasha. When she's comes back from the dead, that's not her. That was merely a shell of dirt filled with her previous hatred that is never changing. It was an aspect of Kikyo, but not actually "Kikyo". She deserves my pity for what she went through but not my respect...

Isn't Kikyo a part of Kagome and Kagome part of Kikyo there actullay one soul. I thought I heard someone mention that Kikyo's soul wanted to see Inuyasha again and was given an opportunity and returned as Kagome. I think it was Kikyo's sister( I forgot her name) she also said that she died with the sacred jewel and returned with it. So I don't hate Kikyo I think she's like Kagome. So I think their both great.
Kikyo did not have her soulmate stolen she was simply not there when inuyasha and kagome fell in love. If she would have been there they would not have fell in lov. Bbut i love kagome anyways so im kinda glad kikyo died

She was forcefully revived, and until she has revenge on the one who caused her death, she will not give up... And the tension between Kagome and Kikyo is nothing to be bothered over... It's just competition over someone who they both love, and are loved by...
If anything, it's Naraku's fault completely... He's the one who started this whole thing anyways...

@EnvoyOfTheBlackAbyss Well, oddly, if you watch the series through there are huge indicators that point to the fact that Kagome is really NOT Kikyou's reincarnation. Besides the totally different appearance and attitudes. Starts actually with Kikyou being brought back. Kagome had a hundred different souls it seemed all in her body-when they were drawn into Kikyou's Kags went immobile-but Kags was able to call most of the souls back-now if Kags WAS indeed Kikyou's reincarnation then one or the
(cont.) other would not be walking. But they both wound up able to walk. Although Kikyou's soul was fairly shattered, and she needed to eventually rely on others to keep her clay body moving. At Kikyou's final death-not one soul returned to Kagome. Not one. They all vanished into the other world. Theory being that Kags is indeed a motley crew of many souls, and Kikyou's happened to hitch a ride with her because of the wish she inadvertantly made on the Shikon No Tama
(last part) when she passed with it-(Kaede actually points out that she probably made this wish in the series) to see Inuyasha again. So in short Kikyou was part of Kagome's jumble of souls, but wasn't actually *her* per se.
@LoneKagome I guess that all makes sense. Actually, the idea of a person being able to possess many different souls in one body is in itself interesting. Makes me think that there's this group of people, each with a different personality. They each contribute one thing to the body they inhabit, personality, or physically wise, or whatever. Like say there's a guy with Kagome's hair, another with Kagome's heart, another with her temper . . .
@LoneKagome In the series, when Kanna tries to suck in Kagome's soul, she notes that Kag has an old/large soul, it overwhelms the mirror to the point where it cracked. I got stuck on the idea that Kag's soul had been on earth for a long time and over time grew in size due to the many lives and experiences she had gone through. I believed that Kik had only a piece of Kag's soul. The reason Kag was able to get most of her soul back was due to her strong will.
@LoneKagome I also believed that the reason Kik's soul didn't go back to Kag for the last time was because she had enough of life on earth and needed to go rest in heaven for awhile. Maybe I was wrong . . .

@LoneKagome i don't really think of Kikyo and Kagome like that. In my opinion it's something like a "two bodies-one soul" concept. As for why Kagome and Kikyo were both able to survive, i think it's because Kikyo didn't really need Kagome's soul itself, just it's presence. If you remember, before the witch revived Kikyo, Kikyo's clay body reacted to Kagome's soul even though she didn't actually have the soul. . Just a fraction of Kagome's soul would be enough to survive. Well, that's my theory.

And again-I have to point out-if Kikyou hadn't kept her own soul (which as I said had been shattered)-she wouldn't have been able to keep walking long enough to find the supplements to keep herself going. Everyone hates Kikyo, i did at first. But after i finished watching all the episodes, i came to love her more and more. For her it was basically: I fell in love, he betrayed me, i had to be brave and destroy him for the better of the world. (since she thought ht was trying to take the shikon jewel and everything) I fell asleep, and he's suddenly with another girl. ? Please, try and explain to me why you wouldn't be just as bitter as Kikyou after all that.
its beautiful but i dnt exactly like kikyo because in the second movie she pushed kagome dwn the bone-eater's well. And in a couple of the episodes tried to kill her
People hate kikyo b/c she tried to kill inuyasha after her revival and hated him but did they forget that when the witch revived her, kagome took her soul back, leaving only her memories of hate (the memory of your lover using and ultimately killing you) for inuyasha. With only that park of her soul returned, (dark and "evil") and I find it beautiful that even after death, she managed to get her "soul saved," purified (which she attributed to inuyasha) by letting it go despite everything.

Kagomes theam is sad too but is more of a lonly sad or when you are pitting you self and rembering the past looking for a ray of hope in a fight but Kikyos is more like there is nothing for me to live for Kagomes is like the Ray of hope and Kikyo is the sad loney one they would make a good team but 1 problem The both like Inuyasha :(

I remember watching Inuyasha a long ass time ago, and I used to think that Kagome was the better match for Inuyasha. Reflecting from an older more mature perspective as a college freshman, I now feel that Inuyasha and Kikyo make a better couple not only because they are the from the same time period, but because there's seems to be something special about one's first love. The episodes recap of Kikyo's and Inuyasha's love history touched me a lot more than Inuyasha/Kagome moments. O_~
@rinmawii1 I agree. Though I prefer Kikyo as a character, I don't hate Kagome like most Kikyo fans. I actually don't mind her most of the time. I agree that she has her annoying moments, but she's a teenage girl, so that's to be expected. It's just that Kikyo's dark past makes her more interesting than Kagome, who had a totally normal life before she met Inuyasha. That said, I think Kagome has a better relationship with Inuyasha. She's more trusting and understanding than Kikyo was.
Kikyo is beautiful she had to suffer so much in the series. I cried when she bid Inuyasha goodbye. At first I thought she hated Kagome from bone to flesh but when she forgave Kagome for not saving her in time I was deeply touched.(sniff)
When I first met Kikyou I hated her with a passion, because she was in the way. But while watching the episodes, and especially the ones featuring her and Inuyasha's struggling relationship, I grew to appreciate her character. I don't like the fact that everyone is disrespecting Kikyo... She isn't the one who should be hated... She was forcefully revived, and until she has revenge on the one who caused her death, she will not give up... And the tension between Kagome and Kikyo is nothing to be bothered over... It's just competition over someone who they both love, and are loved by...
If anything, it's Naraku's fault completely... He's the one who started this whole thing anyways...

Kikyo and Kagome are jealous of each other, and yet they're each other's incarnations . . . maybe it's because they feel like different people, and watching somebody else who's supposed to be you in another life get the guy . . . is kind of disheartening

@LoneKagome I guess that all makes sense. Actually, the idea of a person being able to possess many different souls in one body is in itself interesting. Makes me think that there's this group of people, each with a different personality. They each contribute one thing to the body they inhabit, personality, or physically wise, or whatever. Like say there's a guy with Kagome's hair, another with Kagome's heart, another with her temper . . .

@LoneKagome In the series, when Kanna tries to suck in Kagome's soul, she notes that Kag has an old/large soul, it overwhelms the mirror to the point where it cracked. I got stuck on the idea that Kag's soul had been on earth for a long time and over time grew in size due to the many lives and experiences she had gone through. I believed that Kik had only a piece of Kag's soul. The reason Kag was able to get most of her soul back was due to her strong will.

@LoneKagome i don't really think of Kikyo and Kagome like that. In my opinion it's something like a "two bodies-one soul" concept. As for why Kagome and Kikyo were both able to survive, i think it's because Kikyo didn't really need Kagome's soul itself, just it's presence. If you remember, before the witch revived Kikyo, Kikyo's clay body reacted to Kagome's soul even though she didn't actually have the soul. . Just a fraction of Kagome's soul would be enough to survive. Well, that's my theory.

And again-I have to point out-if Kikyou hadn't kept her own soul (which as I said had been shattered)-she wouldn't have been able to keep walking long enough to find the supplements to keep herself going. So, yes. I have thought about that.

Everyone hates Kikyo, i did at first. But after i finished watching all the episodes, i came to love her more and more. For her it was basically: I fell in love, he betrayed me, i had to be brave and destroy him for the better of the world. (since she thought ht was trying to take the shikon jewel and everything) I fell asleep, and he's suddenly with another girl. ? Please, try and explain to me why you wouldn't be just as bitter as Kikyou after all that.

People hate kikyo b/c she tried to kill inuyasha after her revival and hated him but did they forget that when the witch revived her, kagome took her soul back, leaving only her memories of hate (the memory of your lover using and ultimately killing you) for inuyasha. With only that park of her soul returned, (dark and "evil") and I find it beautiful that even after death, she managed to get her "soul saved," purified (which she attributed to inuyasha) by letting it go despite everything.

I remember watching Inuyasha a long ass time ago, and I used to think that Kagome was the better match for Inuyasha. Reflecting from an older more mature perspective as a college freshman, I now feel that Inuyasha and Kikyo make a better couple not only because they are the from the same time period, but because there's seems to be something special about one's first love. The episodes recap of Kikyo's and Inuyasha's love history touched me a lot more than Inuyasha/Kagome moments. O_~

@rinmawii1 I agree. Though I prefer Kikyo as a character, I don't hate Kagome like most Kikyo fans. I actually don't mind her most of the time. I agree that she has her annoying moments, but she's a teenage girl, so that's to be expected. It's just that Kikyo's dark past makes her more interesting than Kagome, who had a totally normal life before she met Inuyasha. That said, I think Kagome has a better relationship with Inuyasha. She's more trusting and understanding than Kikyo was.

When I first met Kikyou I hated her with a passion, because she was in the way. But while watching the episodes, and especially the ones featuring her and Inuyasha's struggling relationship, I grew to appreciate her character.
