There are way more spills in the Oceans from oil tankers than spills from major pipelines. The latter we can abate. Build the keystone pipe line! If one wants to talk about the environment, talk about china the largest polluter in the world, so bad in fact it's changing weather patterns in the USA and for that matter the world. Talk about chinas ground water contamination. Any issues from the keystone can be worked around with proper planning. Miles of trash left in USA by illegal immigrants alongUS border,now there's real contamination; Drug dealers, now there's real contamination.
Environmental concerns, OK is it better to ship it to China via steamship, refine and then ship it back. Good point Ian. You need oil, even if you come up with a magic oil replacement tomorrow, you won't be able to implement it over night. So, you get your oil from Canada that pays high wages, is very environmentally aware....or, you get it from a hostile country that aside from the oil is more or less an enemy of the US. And how can you determine in advance the number of leaks, are you kresken?

I understand that it may seem that it's the best option- but we have to think about future generations. Us saying NO to this could make the difference between put children having a clean, safe, healthy environment and our great-grandchildren saying the same thing. @MagicKirin Clearly it is you that lacks knowledge on the subject. It takes 3 barrels of water to produce 1 barrel of tar sands oil, and that water can never be reused again. The polluted water is stored in massive waste lagoons that can already be seen from outer space. Keystone 1 has leaked at least 12 times since its construction one year ago, and some 840,000 gallons of tar sands crude spilled into Michigan's Kalamazoo river last year. Keystone XL is the biggest water threat on earth.
Wrong again. IF the pipeline were to be built, the only effect it would have on gas prices in the United States would be to increase them. All of this oil has already been contracted out and it is NOT going to the US. So if you really want to help out China with its energy security, go ahead, endorse this pipeline.

It is funny how people don't realize that it is the little things that they do that can make such a difference. One smile and a kind word might prevent someone from taking their life. One more signature might stop a dangerous pipeline. One call to the president. You might think that little thing doesn't matter, but it does. Sometimes, you don't have to lose your life to save another life. Sometimes, it is just an easy thing that can turn things around.
Could I corrrect something I wrote. It is Harold Hamm, not Herbert Hamm who plans to increase prodution by oil fracking in our western states if that deadly pipeline is built. Both oil fracking and tar sands are water intensive and they don't give the water back. It is a temporary fix, not worth the risk. We already have a shortage of water guys, so why are we doing this. Why are you not signing the petition. Thank you, Ian, for letting so many people know what is happening.
Oil frackers will expand if keystone pipeline is approved. They are already planning for it. So the effects of the tar sands aren't the only thing to worry about it.

Keystone XL will not lessen U.S. dependence on foreign oil, but transport Canadian oil to American refineries for export to overseas markets.
1. It would transport the dirtiest oil on the planet.
2. It would kill more jobs than it would create.
3. It would make us more oil-dependent, not more secure.

There are way more spills in the Oceans from oil tankers than spills from major pipelines. The latter we can abate. It is people like you who are short-sighted, who live as though we have an infinite amount of resources. Maybe you'll be able to save some money at the pump. Environmental concerns, OK is it better to ship it to China via steamship, refine and then ship it back. Good point Ian. You need oil, even if you come up with a magic oil replacement tomorrow, you won't be able to implement it over night. So, you get your oil from Canada that pays high wages, is very environmentally aware....or, you get it from a hostile country that aside from the oil is more or less an enemy of the US. And how can you determine in advance the number of leaks, are you kresken?

@MagicKirin Clearly it is you that lacks knowledge on the subject. It takes 3 barrels of water to produce 1 barrel of tar sands oil, and that water can never be reused again. The polluted water is stored in massive waste lagoons that can already be seen from outer space. Keystone 1 has leaked at least 12 times since its construction one year ago, and some 840,000 gallons of tar sands crude spilled into Michigan's Kalamazoo river last year. Keystone XL is the biggest water threat on earth.

Could I corrrect something I wrote. It is Harold Hamm, not Herbert Hamm who plans to increase prodution by oil fracking in our western states if that deadly pipeline is built. Both oil fracking and tar sands are water intensive and they don't give the water back. It is a temporary fix, not worth the risk. We already have a shortage of water guys, so why are we doing this. Why are you not signing the petition. Thank you, Ian, for letting so many people know what is happening.

Hey everyone can sign this petition it doesn't matter if you are outside the U.S. just click the "outside the U.S." bit in blue next to the part wanting your state. So there are no excuses not to sign, this affects all of us even if we are not from the U.S. this is still our planet that this pipeline can ruin!!
