  • done got some ordered n now im looking at solar panel porn heh heh u know thiss

  • Respect ya, but.: $80 for a 75 watt panel. You said yourself it was getting 40 watts. I can buy 40 watts 12 hours a day, just for comparison purposes since (your panel doesn't get sun at night). 12 hours a day is generous. 40watts X 365 days (again generous) = 175200 div 1000 per Kwh = 175.2 Kwh x 6.1 cents per Kwh = $10.68 cents per year. So it would take about 7 1/2 years to pay for itself, and that's assuming the panel would last that long. It won't. And you have no storage medium???

  • I'm 47 an getting ready to build my first one. I'm a lone ranger new on eBa (2yrs) but I'll be getting 100's of the 6x6 monos I think and I wanted to know, I got two big sliding doors I was going to throw away. Should I make 72's out of each one or just max them out or do 2 or 3 smaller panels on each door. I was going to toss them but I guess I'll get some. How great it is to see you young folks taking initiative and teaching people to reduce carbon ft print and renewable energy - D future!!

  • i thought about taking the glass back off but with all the silicone i used i don't think it will be easy, and i'll probably brake some of the solar cells in doing it. I think i'll just put a some clear silicone over the crack and let it ride. maybe next time it'll turn out better.. thanks for your help.

  • Are you going to vent the panel? is it 30x36? I like the video its nice to see some one else build this type of panel. as the cells heat up the power will drop off in the summer. You will have to post a update when the glass is on. you should put a small fan on it to help vent. if you do vent it put small filters in it so it can breath, once it drys out 3-4 days you can pack the filters a little tighter. • @VWRabbitdiesel

I already put vent holes and mounted a computer fan to the back. i did use the 30x36 glass. have you thought about using plexiglass? i cracked the glass, i think it happened when i moved the panel because it flexed. oh well next time i'll get plexiglass..

  • @islaguy100 sorry about the glass I use a lot of screws to hold the thin board to the back. and mount the cells far from the side as possible to prevent shading. I will put a silicone on the trim lay the glass down and let it sit over night then silicone the trim on with screws. The price for Plexiglas is to much for the thickness you will need. if you get it to thin it will sag and warp with the heat.

  • Looks good, how many more are you going to make?
