  • most 14 year olds would think this music is for old people, but to me its for people with good taste, for people who know what a real legend is. i love Neil Young, reminds me of my childhoood, my dad alway used to sing and play guitar to his songs to me before i would go to sleep, and now thats inspirerd me to play guitar, soo i picked up a guitar tought myself some neil young tunes, now me and my dad jam out to Neil Young together :)

  • greatttttttttttttttttttttttttt.. me eriza!!! =)

  • Love this song

  • Greatttttt!!!

  • about an hour ago my local rock'n'roll radio station was having a "call in your songs" so i asked if they could played this song in commemoration of my grandfather who passed away last week and surprise my dad who was out of the car for a second. My dad was soo happy when the man on the radio said the commemoration to my grandfather...never have me and my dad cried so hard... R.I.P. Alfred Stewart, the king is gone... but he's not forgotten

  • Neil is and always will be a great singer.

  • music died along time ago.

  • all ya'll are wack, kurt and neil are both great, both are the same and not. and nether are godfathers of anything. get outta your heads and enjoy the music, thoughts and love coming through your speakers

  • He looks like the Grinch.lol

  • @Shawneerain123 lmfao yeah no doubt!!!

  • That first image would be an awesome tattoo

  • Thumbs up for the acoustic version over the electric!

  • *just bows down*

  • I agree with eastshorejohn...

All of this debate over Neil and Kurt is giving me a headache.

If you like Neil than like Neil.

If you like Kurt than like Kurt.

It really doesn't matter. So long as you enjoy what you hear and are respectful to those with different opinions...

  • @emptyglo Hush now, logic and rational thoughts does not belong on the internet anymore. That is so mid 90s. Trolling, disliking and just being a general obnoxious waste of flesh is more like this decade.

  • @emptyglo You can like both, please tell me what is wrong with that? NOTHING is the answer so you do not even have to reply to me.

  • Why compare? Music is evolutionary. One person hears something magical and goes on from there. To make judgements about who is better makes one a non appreciator of creative people as a whole. Love it, Hate it, but understand it.

  • I was going 2 type a massive comment explaining my opinion on y u cant have Kurt with out Neil and how 1 is no more relevant than the other etc etc, seriously who gives a shit, they R both genius, people who say 1 is more superior than the other is plain ignorant biased bullshit that truly deserves 2b removed before it either pollutes or reinforces some poor kids view on the amazing music they stumble across while searching, god it would be good to be that young again and find Neil or Kurt

  • Ok, I'm Confused.. why the hell is everyone talking about Kurt Cobain On a Neil Young Song.. Listen to the Music, Give your thoughts on, but don't bring up shit that has nothing to do with what's comming out of your speakers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Nevermindit132 This song had a deep connection with Kurt Cobain. In his letter before he took his life he quoted from this song. " It's better to burn out, then to fade away." Neil Young had a huge impact on Kurt's life. However; Neil did not know that Kurt had been trying to reach him before Kurt took his life. Neil was bothered by this tremendously after hearing Kurt took his life. Rest In Peace to Kurt Cobain, and may Neil Young forever Play.

  • @Nevermindit132

because cobains last words where "its better to burn out, as to fade away"..and thats what neil young is singing,..

  • @TheMusicchannel23 People are argueing over who was better.. which is dumb.

  • rock will never die with songs like this (and the beatles)

  • this isnt grunge though...i llike this but kurt cobains way superior to neil young.

  • @BlakeCobainMorrison Um... Sure. That's why Neil Young is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame not once, but twice? And that's not even for his work with CSNY. The only reason that loser Kurt has stayed so famous is because he swallowed a gun at the height of his over-hyped fame. If he'd stayed around, he would have washed up with the rest of the grunge bands and be a nobody now.

  • @caldous22 That's bull shit!! hahaha, You obviously aren't a fan.. but your stating an OPINON, we're all entitled, but you formed yours on the fact that YOU don't like him!!! That's not even an EDUCATED guess, that's just plain ignorance. :) ....

    -Sincerely, One of Millions.

  • @BlakeCobainMorrison I like both but you really can't compare Neil Young to Kurt Cobain.. It's like comparing the beatles to Marylin Manson, It just isn't the same music.. But to me Neil IS a better song writer, But Kurt Cobain was a pioneer.. And Major respect on that!!!!!!

  • Its better to BURN OUT, than to FADE AWAY........YESS SIRRR!!!!

  • HELLLLLLLL YESSSSSSS

  • weres the fucking regular version without the audience

  • @kingnocomply I'm starting to think that Neil Young never did a studio album.

  • Whatever Wallstreet goes or not, we know Rock.N Roll is here to stay. Charlie.

  • kurt made awesome awesome music!!! but he was a dick

  • @magicratstreetmachin Kurt sucks dick

  • @magicratstreetmachin, No, he wasn't. You don't know what he went through.

  • <3 !

  • gheesh where have these masters gone and where are there children to carry the torch!!!

  • AWESOME CHANNEL!!!

  • rock n roll is here to stay

  • I got "It's better to burn out than to fade away" tattooed on my arm tonight ! I'm from Germany..but I'm listening to this music! WHY? BECAUSE It's AWESOME. NUFF SAID :)

  • Neil Young the father of Kurt Cobain :D

  • @eLeNa8049 Don't you dare associate a legend like neil young with a piece of utter shit like kurt cobain.

  • @Nathehe wtf man? you're seriously a dick. Kurt had good music, dont hate

  • @Nathehe don't you dare call kurt cobain a piece of shit when he wrote some of the most honest, beautiful, raw, passionate music of all rock and roll, its one thing if you dont like him, but calling him that couldnt be farther from the truth, buddy.

  • @Nathehe I don't had associate.. But Kurt are not a piece of shit. Sure he isn't like Neil Young! Sorry for my english but I'm italian :)

  • The classic adage here is 'you are better to burn out ,than fade away' !!

  • love i meant love to go to one of his shows lol

  • i would to go to one of his shows :) any tour dates up yet?

  • epic song

  • ON Tour 2012 --- 66 years old --- last new album 1993 ---

  • Sons of Anarchy <3

  • @LifeWithLou13 yep!

  • I really don't see how this is grunge at all :L

  • @c0rnp0p5 really?

  • Neil was NOT the "Godfather of Grunge"; he was a hippy and that was the style then. He look wasn't calculated or planned, it was natural. It wasn't done to market him to a specific audience or to get cultural attention. It was how 99.99% of the rock/folk musicians looked and dressed. Unlike "grunge" bands, he did not express his disappointment in society by not using basic hygiene and common sense, but by his ingenious lyrical talent and intellectual points of view. It's quite a difference!

  • @kirkwood512 But it was still all these things you mentioned that he did, that lead to the birth of of Grunge music...hence the term Godfather. I wouldn't call Elvis Presley rock...but he's the King of rock, right...he inspired it...hence the loose and inaccurate terms. Neil wasn't Grunge..Elvis wasn't rock...but they were both visionaries that inspired each culture

  • @kirkwood512 Well said.

  • Keeping it real for over 40 years..............

  • if only more people would hear this music the world would be so much better Neil come to Argentina! im tired of wachiturros! jajajajaj!

  • we love you Neil

  • Rock and Roll will never die.... forever with you neil..

  • iglesia ni neil young the best..

  • "Out of the blue" film du génial Dennis Hopper je tiens à le signaler.

    Salut en de kost !

  • Neil Young The Greatest!!!!

  • it might be better to burn out than to fade away although we'd all rather you stay.

  • @rusticwiles0 nice one

  • @rusticwiles0 Well said! d(*_*)b

  • The way it is -rockin roll from the 60,70s never dead ,just resurected

  • @lucrese1 yeah me too.

    great song and great film!

  • Rock n' Roll is here stay

  • I heard this song for the first time in the film "out of the blue" great song!

  • anyone know where I caN FIND A STUDIO VERSION?

  • Good ol' fuckin' rock 'n' roll

  • Great tune .Neil Young is beyond any description of musical opinion

  • Youtube rage lol

  • Neil Young the Godfather of Grunge... legend...

  • @Qwerty4204 I had never actually given it much thought ; but by God you're right! ;)

  • @Qwerty4204 I have said for years that Neil Young was the original creator of Grunge music and not Kurt Cobain. Kurt's music Definitely has it's place but he was not the father or godfather of grunge.

  • @2002dra of course, but Kurt was still a HUGE factor in the most recent rock era. Long live good soulful rock" Nirvana, Neil, Jimi, and many many others.

  • @Qwerty4204

    Yes! Well said!

  • @Qwerty4204 poet

  • O.K..Chuck.

  • does anyone have the tabes for the little lead section he does at 1:10. I love this little lick.

  • @winx350 I agree, would love that in the studio version as the vocals are better

  • If I were to make a Venn Diagram of this song, in the place where "Rock" and "Roll" intersect, it would say "Can never die".

  • Neil is an artist who has not only made the journey himself, but appreciates the route that others take. Musically speaking, a most generous man -- and a great artist and chronicler of our time.

  • Comment removed

  • This recording is top QUALITY like Mr. NEIL YOUNG! And, I have to add along with this prized song and recording that the design for Neil's "Harvet" record cover is so magnificent too!

    Love the Young forevr!

  • what an amazing life he's had. he's the best.

  • Kurt Cobain? Yeah, one of the greats in the past 20 years, but to say he's the best lyricist of all time? Not even close.

  • @flutternuttt I 100% agree with you..

  • Never mind Wall Street SAVE ROCR N'ROLL.

    Charlie.

  • Kurt Cobain was a whiny brat with no artistic talent just spouting unintelligible garbage .

  • @THEFLESHMANN1 You're talking like you knew him. He changed so many people's lives, changed music, is still an inspiration to this date. And is one of the greatest artists and best lyricist of all time. Learn to deal with that, and do something with your life instead of bitching about someone elses.

  • @MWTreeMahn And you're speaking as if you know me , why dont you do something with YOUR life instead of bitching about someones opinion. See , I can do that too . Now go fuck a sock junior.

  • @MWTreeMahn Music is all opinion, you're the most ignorant bias son of a bitch i've known simply for assuming that someone is the "Best" simply because you like them personally. You need a music lesson, it isn't about the best, its about your preference, listen to what you enjoy, and don't tell others who is best. But why am i talking to you? Someone with your point of view is clearly either a child, or just extremely immature. And FYI, don't come to a Neil Young vid expecting sympathy for Kurt.

  • @KeyboardWarrior1996 Wow 1996 I can tell you're a pretty retarded kid. Learn to read, I said ONE of the greatest artists. Not the best you thick shit, bet you feel like a retard now, you'll reply with some stupid shit which I will ignore because your intelligence is too low. Someone needs to keep going school and get off youtube.

  • @MWTreeMahn No, i don't feel like a retard. In fact, thanks for contradicting yourself, you said he was one of the greatest artists of all time. I never said you weren't right, But i said you only speak for yourself. You may say KK is one of the greatest of all time. Yet that only goes for you, i personally love Neil Young, and don't like KK. Like i said, its ALL preference, you say hes one of the best of all time, and i say that is only your opinion. Thanks for twisting my words, dip-shit.

  • @KeyboardWarrior1996 Cough it's a fact. Twisted your words. Phahaha go to bed kid.

  • @MWTreeMahn Nah dude, he's right. It's a "fact" for you. Like saying your mom is the best mom in the world.

  • @TheKievKen So what if I do think it's a fact? I said one of, I didn't express my decision cos' I knew a moron would reply. Maybe you should read what I wrote and think for yourself.

  • @MWTreeMahn Yeah whatever...

  • @MWTreeMahn You tell a kid to learn to deal with something, and to do something with his life when you idol someone who committed suicide at 27?

  • @goldenjet8 Why do you reply with something completely stupid? Who gives a fuck whether someone is killed or commits suicide, what about Hendrix? Two of the greatest musicians don't try and say shit about someones opinion, did I state he was my idol? So don't assume moron.

  • luck*

  • kurt..<3

  • I love Neil....he is amazing.

  • At least, that guy sings it O.K.

    Charlie.

  • great song from justin bieber

  • @MacMahongon huh

  • What can I even say about this song that you don't already feel from hearing it?

  • Kurt Cobain quoted "it's better to burn out than fade away" in his suicide note. Apparently Kurt had been trying to reach Neil Young prior to it happening but had no Luck. Neil was unaware of this and Kurt's death had a profound impact on him and inspired him to create Sleeps with Angels.

  • @BizzMarki Look carefully at the PS on the suicide note. It is in a different handwriting.

  • @tinyvox

Actually, I'm pretty sure that part was before the handwriting changed.

  • @BizzMarki it was actually apparently neil young who was trying to reach out to kurt, the days before his suicide. but still good comment

  • @BizzMarki except kurt was murdered by c. love

  • @BizzMarki I heard somewhere that when Neil plays it live he puts a ton of emphasis on that line as a way to show his "sorrow" (couldn't come up with a better word) over Kurt Cobain's death

  • @BizzMarki

Kurt was right it is better to burn out then fade away

  • Legend... Also: 2:45 - Neil looks like young Hugh Laurie;)

  • nice song, not my style, but it´s nice song!

  • amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazinggg!!!!!!

  • Twenty-two people would rather fade away than burn out.

  • This song is about Elvis... Idiots

  • I will always rember the time I first heard this song, me and my best friend were stuck in a traffic jam on a big bridge smoking a 3 gram blunt out my car window. It was a great moment!

  • i wish rockin roll was at the top today the hell with pop and electro shit

  • Angel thank you for your kindness and friendship, I loved your video very beautiful music, congratulations, success, has an excellent night, a thousand kisses in your heart

  • So true.

  • I like this music and I am only 84 years old!!!

  • @Koppinsky WOW!

  • @Koppinsky :D

  • @Koppinsky I like this music and I am only older then time itself!

  • @Koppinsky man you rock with 100 too!!!!

  • @Koppinsky Im 14 and I like this song, arent I the greatest? I broadcast my age to the entire youtube world in a quest for recognition and acceptance.

  • @Drew00621 we old folks accept any young who we can influence musically

  • DL the audio from this song at searchripgrab doht cohm.

  • hey hey my my rockin roll will never die

  • Your age doesn't really matter. Good music will live on, pop music always dies and rock n roll lives on. Ever hear of the backstreet boys? N sync? Shit, even the Jonas Brothers anymore? Just a few examples. People will listen to good music forever.

  • Brilliant song, Neil Young fans should check out Oasis' live cover which is also tremendous. Two great artists

  • Johnny Rotten! Johnny Rotten!

  • i must be the youngest kid to listen to this

  • @MrLawliet1307 na i bet im younger im only 14

  • @MrLawliet1307 im 12, classic rock and classic metal (quiet riot, judas priest, motley crue etc.) is all i listen to

  • @D3THPyromaniacBUck Who cares about your age. Just enjoy the music.

  • @D3THPyromaniacBUck That's because you're awesome. I'm 14 and listen to the same stuff :D. Good for you though. You don't find many people who listen to GOOD music that are under 18, even 20. My parents raised me on classic rock, alternative, all that. What about you?

  • This original version is so much better than the BattleMe Sons Of Anarchy version!

  • @ozhiphop47 Battleme made a different version, you can prefer the original version but it does'nt mean that she is better... Personally I find them so different that I think they can't be listened in the same state of mind. Battleme version is perfect when you're in a sad mood, instead of Young's one wich can't be listened every time, every where.

  • gotta Tweeter Center is a venue in mansfield massachusetts doufis!!!!

  • one difference between rock and pop in pop all people have to be beautiful in rock you just need good music not good looks no offence neil young but your a great example

  • tweeter center would refer to the internet theses days... i hate the internet (other than listening to music and watching porn internet sucks)

  • Neil - never burn or fade away -rock on forever !!!

  • its better to burn out; rust never sleeps

  • Fantastico!

  • this is the reason why i want to learn guitar

    great song

  • @carbonatedlemonade19 Go for it man. Picking up the guitar was probably one of the better things I've done for myself. The hardest part of learning guitar (or any instrument, for that matter) is getting started

  • @TMcR92 I can play it on guitar, but I've been trying to learn the harmonica. It's really fucking hard!

  • @MrPeguin666 i bet i just learn then the gguitar goodlock brother keep on rockin in a free world :P

  • forever forever is best!

  • Hey hey, my my,

    Neil Young can never die

  • Hey Hey my my,

Rock 'n roll can never die
