Can a person shoot shot through a rifled slug barrel.?..would it spin the wad on its way out of the barrel? I know the rifled barrel has evolved making the referance of a rifle instead of a long gun with a rifled barrel. as well as the shotgun..which can shoot various shots as well as a rifled slug..now with the barrels easily changed you can use the slug for large game..Of course you can have a side by side or over /under..where you can put a center fire in one and bird shot in the other..

@blueshadow1996 Yeah but they have certian similarities, such as they both fire solid slugs from brass casings. In the rifle and shotguns case, the Rifle also shoots a Solid Slug from a brass casing. The Shotgun on the other hand shoots tons of BB's or Pellets (depending on what shot you use) that are held in a wad untill they leave the barrel and are fired from Plastic Cases down a smoothbore barrel. It is true that you can buy a new Rifled barrel for a shotgun to shoot slugs.

Rifles and shotguns work on similar, but different principles and are both considered long-arms. The work you were looking for was not rifle, but in fact long-arm.

@brucewillis71 yep, and with the recent additions of 1-3/4" mini mag shells, all the way up to the 3-3/4" dangerous game 12ga from hell, it makes it even better, you can take your favorite heavy barreled 12ga single shot, and re chamber it to 3-3/4" and be able to use any 12 ga shell in the world, and do anything from starting campfires with 1-3/4" flares or dragons breath, to hunting the big five in africa with the 12ga from hell load (which is a 1000gr slug at 2500fps)

thanks for the info, I knew a bit about them already (considering you have to if you own one) but I never knew when it was invented, and I knew they were popular but I didn't know they made up 50% of all shotguns ever made

@brucewillis71 yep, and with the recent additions of 1-3/4" mini mag shells, all the way up to the 3-3/4" dangerous game 12ga from hell, it makes it even better, you can take your favorite heavy barreled 12ga single shot, and re chamber it to 3-3/4" and be able to use any 12 ga shell in the world, and do anything from starting campfires with 1-3/4" flares or dragons breath, to hunting the big five in africa with the 12ga from hell load (which is a 1000gr slug at 2500fps)
