Just think,.... Happy Days would have never existed without that first little skit done on Love American Style called Love and the Happy Days. It did so well that they decided to make a series, ....which lead to the spin off shows Lavern & Shirley and Mork and Mindy. I recall back in the 1970s when guys were all in the retro 1950s mode with greased back hair. This show capitalized on that 1950s come back in the early 70s.
well on the syndicated version of the DVD release the song in the opening is happy days and not rock around the clock but your correct in saying it was renamed happy days again. A travesty IMO seeing as they did away with rock around clock and used generic music in the episodes instead of the orignal music. Screw Paramount
Definately the best theme music of the series and the best time of the series. The producers tried to give the series a period feel to it which was lost as the series went on.
Although this is a year one or two intro.. it isn't the original. In the original cast credits, Ralph Malph isn't in it yet, and Fonzie had a K-Mart barracuda light blue jacket. Love the part when the girl loses her ponytail by the convertible top and Marcia the waitress spills the shakes on the 2 cops. lol :)
I love how, for a short time in the 80's, they had to change the name of some shows, so that people would know if they were watching a first-run episode or a syndication re-run! They also had to call the CHiPs re-runs "CHiPs Patrol" (which means "California Highway Patrol Patrol") :-)
i know for me the 80s were fun what about the 50s for the ones that grew up in that decade was the 50s fun

Actually the show owes all of its success to George Lucas' Amercian Graffitti.

Which decade Happy Days takes place? 50's? 60's?
Regarding to the clothes and the environment I'll say it's 1950's

This was Season 2 because Henry Winkler and Donny Most became regulars. This was also the syndicated version because they called it Happy Days Again.

Great TV series! The Cunninghams were actually a family, not a messed up dysfunctional bunch of people living together.

I agree. This rerecording of the song rocks a little harder than the original.

A 1973 re-recording of Bill Haley's classic 1955 hit "Rock Around the Clock".

I personally prefer this intro as opposed to the later seasons that included the somewhat tiresome 'Happy Days' theme song.
