I keep thinking what it would have been like if there had been a time warp like in the movie "The Final Countdown" where a modern carrier strike force would end up in the English Channel during the Battle of Britain. The F/A-18 Super Hornets and Tomahawk cruise missiles could take care of all the German airfields and the Hornets could mix it up with the bombers and 109's.

@rbilleaud I'm always interested in this sort of plot line, but the outcome of that battle would not have been changed. What would be REALLY interesting--is a plot whereby a few squadrons of modern German fighter pilots, flying Eurofighters armed to the teeth, goes through a time warp back to the Battle of Britain, and they have to decide whether to fight for their country, and therefore Hitler, possibly changing history, but fighting for their country--or fighting for their modern allies.

@DandAinTac Yes, that would be more interesting. Funny how movies like "The Final Countdown" always end up boilling everything down to black and white, good vs. evil. Your hypothisis would be much more compelling because it involves a moral dilemma. How would German pilots react given that situation. Perhaps you should write a book about that. I'm a writer by trade, and quite frankly wish I would have thought of it first.

@rbilleaud Small world. I consider myself a writer as well, although I've never had anything published outside academia. I once wrote a children's story--a modern mystery for about the level of a Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys audience, but after spending hundreds of dollars on postage and manuscript copies, I couldn't find an agent or a publisher. I think I have the outlines of a good plot for this--if you're interested, send me a private message.

This Engish Documentaries are so much better than all we have in Germany.Here all Documentaries are 90% only Atrocity-Propaganda "Your Grandfather was a criminal and youre responsible for that" Messages take 40 min of a 45 min Video...it realy sucks.

Fantastich footage! Absolutely superb and excellent machine. One would need to have a cast iron stomach both the Pilot and the Gunner. Thank you for sharing this documentary!
