  • This guys voice makes me want to punch small children. Omg.

  • "supreme being" ... that chimps just their leader, alpha-chimp.. whats this guy on about

  • @S2000XC Dictionary definition of supreme: Highest in authority or rank

Dictionary definition of being:existance; that which exists; creature

I don't know what the heck your going on about. It sounds legit to anyone who knows what the words mean.

  • @S2000XC

You're clearly not educated enough to discuss the subject. Please, go outside, and shoot at some beer cans and PLEASE don't reproduce.

  • Very interesting and consistent with research I did a decade ago about whether ancestor veneration gave us our earliest religions and gods.

  • the guy below me is an epic fail troll..pure faggitry.

  • I don't get it, this video title had "chimps" in it but this is just downtown Saint Louis?

  • Wonderful.

  • @ "Oh but they don't sacrifice to their god" : They 'sacrifice' their females. His genes are his immortality. As they are YOURS. Hence, the Roman patriciate stressed the need for natural sons as successors, although adoption was not wholly uncommon. Aristocracy IS basically the royal religion of most advanced humans. Incidently...

"Of course Yahweh/Ishvara/Demiourgos's holy instruction manual fell from the sky and is flawlessly inerrant in every syllable, it is written within such."

  • Have because chimps have religion does not mean that GOD doesn't exist, He is The GOD of animals and humans. Besides the Bible tells us scientific facts before it was known to the common man...

  • @Domodeath

No it doesn't. You are either lying or very misguided, name one thing that the bible knew before science.

  • @UnholyMagpye The Hydrologic cycle, please read:

"He draws up the drops of water, which distill as rain to the streams; the clouds pour down their moisture and abundant showers fall on mankind"-Job 36:27-28.

"The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course. All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again"-Ecclesiastes 1:6-7

  • @Domodeath

So number 1 is 'it rains' and number 2 is 'wind exists every where' in the world. That is amazing, my son is able to observe that rain happens too. How blessed he must be to know such hidden truths of the world. For Devine revealing of science from god that is some pretty basic and useless knowledge. What about revealing something useful.

  • @UnholyMagpye Um, no and I'm disappointed you would lie like that. Job 36:27-28, clearly shows the process of evaporation "He draws up" then they "distill as rain to the screams", Part of Ecclesiastes 1:6-7 states "All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again" That's not "Useless knowledge" those facts are pretty recent to be discovered,

  • @Domodeath

How did I lie? It is useless, where was the information about germ theory and about antibiotics? You don't need high intelligence to see that rain is water. As for 'he draws up drops of water', then unless your god is the sun then 'he' doesn't do shit, so no. It does not describe evaporation, it observes it and says water goes in the sky and comes down! Amazing. Doesn't describe why it happens but instead says god did it(like all religious answers)which as i explained no he doesn't!

  • @UnholyMagpye Sigh... you're just to aggogant... I don't mean that as an insult.. But I really don't feel I'm getting through to you...

  • @Domodeath

You have heard of the kettle and the pot, right? I have a rational mind so no, you won't get through to me by citing vague scriptures and verses. There is a similar claim about the Quran and the big bang. Doesn't change anything even if it were true. The bible also tells you to cure lepers by sacrificing birds and citing incantations. I wonder why we use rifampicin, clofazimine or/and dapsone to cure it if the bible is so true about it's science.

  • @UnholyMagpye I'd like to see your source passage where it says to cure a leper "requires" incantations and sacrifices (Lev. 14?) From what I've read of Torah, I see lepers were exiled until they were better, and the sacrifices came post-illness. Quite pointless healing that which is physically clean.

I hate to revive, but next time you summarize (and bash) a block of text: read it, understand its content and say what it means, not what it'd mean if you switched two parts of it :P

  • @BarKonpah I'm guessing you are Jewish? The passage is Leviticus 14:2-52. Don't accuse me of switching 'parts of it' around, what a silly accusation. When passages like Deuteronomy 22:28-29 state that a rape victim should marry the person who raped them then i'm not inclined to take your book of fairy tales very seriously. Why would I when it is filled with passages as repugnant as that?

  • @UnholyMagpye What you do not seem to understand is the fact that clouds excist of water that has evaporated is a fact unknown to our civilisation until the 19th century. However that this has been written in the bible thousands of years earlier does not prove gods excistence.

  • @SGASGASGASGA

Use some common sense mate, no where does it describe evaporation. It says that water goes up then rains down, I'm sure people in any era had the ability to see that dark clouds mean rain and as i said before 'HE' does NOT do any thing unless 'HE' is the sun.

  • The flaw in this video is that none of the chimps sacrificed to their "chimp god," even though every single ancient religion made sacrifices to their gods.

  • "Bling is not a human invention."

    Priceless! X)

  • Just wonderful to see the fact of religions ^_^

  • Let us all praise Semus, first among the Apes¡¡¡¡

After this, seriosly, it comes of the need of feeling protected, that someone real or imaginary, is watching over us, of course, this applies to every religion, we say to ourselves that our god is the One, the Only and the True god, but it comes out of fear that we have just ourselves to rely on, we are basically alone in this unthinkable huge universe, and we are scared of that fact. Just sayin'

  • After Raptor Jesus and Zombie Jesus, here comes Chimp Jesus.

  • why dont i hate the idea of God? fuck really hate it

  • comfort zones are subjective. some people are unconfortable with ideas of a powerful supernatural moral being who bestows on man the responsibility and later accountability for being an intelligent, self-determining agent. but i do admire the open-mindedness of many atheists. the legendary British atheist, Anthony Flew, claims that because of recent scientific evidence he is now a theist.

  • What the hell are you talking about? Christians worship Jesus -- A man who apparently is the son of god and god at the same time, which is retarded -- like these chimps worship the bigger guy. They behave like most irrational religious nuts by believing one man is the answer and savior from everything.

  • they behave more like atheists. don't you think?

  • @c0smicbyte Actually, they behave more like Christians too frightened to explore their surroundings for themselves. Don't you think?

  • @Poeticnuisance I don't know if chimps are afraid to explore their habitat, on the contrary they seem quite inquisitive about their own environment. In that respect, many honored and accomplished scientists are Christians. When it comes to the subject of worship, Christians worship the Origin and Creator, a super intelligent conscious being not of their own species. But like primitive chimps many atheists have minimal perception of God and worship their own (as in the case of Kim Il Jung of NK).

  • @c0smicbyte Perhaps you should clarify your definition of worship then... I worship nothing, which is implicit with being an atheist... which itself is a label I don't particularly appreciate, but alas we live in such a world.

  • @Poeticnuisance define worship, for good reason Jews and Christians worship the one and only God, not persons, not wealth, no other supernatural beings, etc., just the self-introducing living God of the Bible. worship then is giving due acknowledgement of his dominion over all creation, the recognition of his moral attributes, and appreciation for his goodness(specially, patience) towards mankind. at this point I am tempted to inject a thought, that the mess we are in is caused by our failures.

  • @c0smicbyte But that aside, atheists are at the forefront of every major scientific field. True, many theists contribute tremendously. I would never deny that fact. Atheists do not limit their understanding of the universe to the comfort zone provided by an all knowing father figure. In fact, we acknowledge the lack of such authority in the universe, and as such seek to understand its operation. I will admit there are atheists who lack imagination.... (cont)

  • @Poeticnuisance Dr. Francis Collins, an American geneticist noted for his leadership of the Human Genome Project, is one of those Christian scientists making tremendous contribution to the understanding our physical makeup. But let us face it, as a former devout Christian you should understand what I am about to say. The Bible was not written for a few smart people. It was designed to communicate its basic, more important message to as many people as possible, throughout man's earthly existence

  • @c0smicbyte man could discover by himself how things work, like, "how God did it" or "so, that's how He makes it tick". after reading Gerald Schroeder's Age of the Universe I came to appreciate that six days of creation could be billions of years depending on where or how one is observing the flow of time. this accounts for organisms and its environment to develop or evolve to its present state. so, fine. now that's settled, now how do we get Wall Street from ripping off the middle class?

  • @c0smicbyte At least you have a genuine interest in things you don't understand. Thats more than most christians can say. Now... very good question. I suppose we need to get people off their asses and learn about the system that runs their lives. Wall Street seems to be very adept at exploiting the ignorance of the masses. People unfortunately seem to have no curiosoty these days.

  • @c0smicbyte but the number of theists who lack any semblance of independent thought is tremendously higher. This is simply an honest assessment from somebody who used to be a devout christian. I thank my career in science for opening my mind to possibility.

  • lol bling is not a human invention. what chimp like race is OBSESSED with bling? niggers

  • he kind of sounds like ben stein. but even as boring as he sounds, he can't manage to detract how fascinating this activity really is. we're not that different at all, humankind and the animal kingdom, and that never fails to amaze me.

  • By strong inductive reasoning I can say there is a God.

  • Science recognise God but will never admit it,like the chief monkey they will not bow down to the trembling of its voice until a great big bolt of lightening flashs up its arsehole

Peace my unbelieving friends, keep searching

  • @mylesbradley1234

hah I forgot I said that. I don't believe it's true anymore, either. It's an oversimplification I made

  • Comment removed

  • this has nothing to with my beliefs !

  • For itchy red eyes, use Clear Eyes .. this guy sounds like Ben Stein from those commercials.

  • @KulDeeSak

lmfao I thought the same thing :D

  • We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal and are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights and that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Thats the religion of America, and if you don't believe in it you don't believe in America. It is true, God supports and blesses America for it. We accepted it when we kicked all those royal chimps from Europe out of America. It is true religion and the opposite of what you say religion is.

  • Gotta love this guy's silky smooth voice.

  • A am not an atheist, but this is very interesting :)

  • I do not bow to any God.

  • This is ridiculous.

  • Also this is not religion, the society is a heirarchy. Almost all pack animals have this trait, from deer to lion from ant to wolf.

  • @ORACLE063 Some animals have heirarchy, but why? A basic need to follow a leader. When a species reaches intelligence, the behavior is not lost, instead it becomes something more, we keep leaders, but begin to grasp that we are equal. There lies the problem, we now have no "better" to follow. Combined with a lack of understanding, this need is explained as supernatural. Enter gods, until we can grow free of this need, We now stand at this point and we waver in self-doubt.

  • So god is a dominant chimp? ill shoot him!! nuff said.

Further more the only power god/gods have over you is the power you give them. Ask Zeus and Odin... they are cleaning car windows in Greece and Scandinavia. I hear Ra part times as a spot light around Egyptian construction sites. Quetzelcoatl sells oranges on the Pan America highway.

  • At least the chimps can SEE their supreme being, so they can't deny he exists.

  • @averagebear1

You can't say that for Jesus Christ

  • Who the hell is Jay Glass and why is Goodall doing an intro for him? I wonder if she's seen this video because as I remember: the chimp banging the cans gained status. The chimp doing the rain dance was not a dominant chimp either.

    Something fishy here.

Let me guess what the message is.

Chimps are horrrible brown-nosing slaves to intimidating jerks.

    We are just like chimps.

    God is an intimidating jerk.

So we should abase and prostrate ourselves to the christian god.

    Am I right?

  • science is based on observation, religion is based on speculation.

  • Boys have a penis, girls have a vagina.

  • @hurtchow Science is based on observation and reason; religion is based on delusion

  • @hurtchow Yes,so we must speculate to accumulate

  • @hurtchow Um...no that's just not true..

  • Bueller?... Bueller?... Bueller?

  • There are a bunch of humans that are still that stupid. Oh no, thunder! Lets run to church!

  • or oh no terrorists let's nuke the whole planet to make sure that we're safe

  • Excellent points!

  • this narrator songs like the " for dry eyes get clears" guy.... lmao

  • what a bunch of BS

  • Science is a combination of discoveries and subsequent inventions. It has provided us with more truth and comfort than any earth creature before us has known. A hell of a lot more than any religion. To deny that is sheer ignorance.

  • what do the fundamentalist have to say?

  • They kissed his hand!!! Amazing!!!

  • This video is messed up, but I don't think it should surprise anyone.

God himself promises to all of us, "You will...find me when you seek me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13) Few that are not actively seeking God will find Him. There are zillions of excuses people that don't want to believe in God will use in an attempt to invalidate God's supremacy. This is one of them.

  • lol uh... dinosaurs were real, god is not.

  • chimps and us are one and the same however I believe it takes a certain lineage to accomplish God's plan and that is to understand the universe..the other billions of intelligent civilizations in the Milky Way would probably agree..

  • The chimps may follow the dominant male as a leader, but I don't think they see him as a god.

  • Fucking hell, you pricks will use anything to support your delusion. When is the pope comic becoming a holy document?

  • I actually thought this was a non-religious thing. I mean, who would undermine their own faith in such a video?

Still, delusion and non-understanding seem to be universal in all species, of with religion is the best example in the human race.

    :/

  • Lol at the dominant male fighting the storm.

  • Very profound video. 5/5

  • i am GOD believe in me or ill SHIT you all to HELL

  • "It's good to be the king."

  • The same reason I say god damnit, because it is an expression.

  • Yes, we evolved from a common ancestor, apelike ancestor around 7 million years ago.

  • You do realize that although many aspects of the near infinite creation stories attached to spiritualistic beliefs can be disproved we do not now, nor likely ever, have the capability to fully disprove any and all involvement of a deity like essence in matters of the universe. I myself do not believe most of the stories found in a number of belief systems. Though I am not foolish enough to make statements against such theories when I myself do not have definitive evidence to disprove ... (Cont).

  • (Arg, character limits) ... the theories they hold. I am not saying that their theories of our beginning are true simply for lacking evidence that completely disproves them. I am only saying that going so far as saying "we weren't created by "God" " based on what little we do know about genetics and the history of the earth is going too far. We can shoot holes in those theories but we can only go so far without having omnipotence our selves, so that we could then utterly disprove.

  • we know more about genetics and the universe by fact than we know about religious beliefs because when it comes to religion there is not facts. I mean we don't even have proof that Jesus even existed (let me just remind you that the bible is not proof/its a book of stories inspired by him and god). i won't say we were not created by God since i don't know that either but science has shown undesputable evidence of posiblities of evolution and religious stories have yet NOTHING proven.

  • KISS THE RING BITCH!!!!! Ha ha ha......

  • thats funny lol

  • lol. my son must have left that when i was away from my computer. thanks.

  • We do have a tendency to "deify" people--turning them into gods (at least in our own minds).

  • Indeed. The author is intellectually dishonest.

  • Silly

  • Interesting, and I'm not religious in the slightest, but that narrator makes a lot of assumptions.

  • we are genetically altered homo-erectus courtesy of alien species, most likely the greys maybe more. religions are mass populous management systems created by few elite societal hierarchy stemmed from overactive imaginations via unexplainable solar and planetary observations and later humane spiritual integration through evolutionary processes and divine cosmic intervention.

  • lol, i could'nt have said it better myself.

  • These chimps aren't 'worshiping' their alpha-leader. Humans have customs of respect, ie: kneeling before a queen, kissing a pope's ring, saying yes 'sir' to a cop, but that isn't 'worship'.

These chimps also don't think that their leader created their living environment, nor that he'll be there for them after they pass on. Because, animals don't think in those terms ((creation or afterlife). These are human ideas. And that is the difference between reverence and admiration.

  • Humans need leaders, not gods. Even if we do, no such thing as "god" exists. Bowing down, and being submissive, to a delusion and self-deception is pathetic.

  • Auth.Resp.2: Please keep in mind biological variability. Even things genetically based are distributed in the population along the bell shaped curve. For ex. growth hormone follows this distribution and thus at one tail are people 4'+ and the other tail 7'+ with most falling in the fat central part around 5'7". If feelings of faith in higher power also genetic, then at one end are the few atheists, the other end the few born again/fundamentalist and in the middle are most believers.

  • Author resp: Behaviors shown are well accepted as described, signs of submission (kneeling) and acceptance (touch from the dom. male). The can used to enhance the intimidation display, much as we humans display signs of wealth to a similar end. Grooming is different, overtly and functionally. One use of same storm footage describes Dr. Goodall's words for the dom. male response: "with the display of strength and vigor such as this, primitive man himself might have challenged the elements."

  • And the female 'cowering in fear' from the thunder was actually just a mother chimp that had lost her child and was searching for her from the trees for the higher and better view of the area. She was actually separated from the group. The other chimps of the group were fine. This video has been dubbed over to suggest that religion is not an invention of man; its religious propaganda...jesus christ this pisses me off.

  • Lightgrenademe -- Thanks for shedding some light!

  • The idea was that a)chimps are intelligent and b) a chimp could rise in rank within a group. Also, the "kneeling in prayer" was an act called grooming, which is a form of reassurance to the females and young males that theres no real threat and all is well. even the godfather scene where the chimps would kiss hands was just another way of comforting each other (yes, chimps kiss and even hug each other).

  • BULLSHIT. I've watched the original video, someone recorded over the actual commentary. It's true that chimps do try to establish dominance within their groups, but the original video was about how they compete for dominance in different ways. One way was a display of brute strength, the other intelligence. The latter was shown by the chimp with the empty cans. He was actually a different, much smaller chimp than the first one shown and originally had a very low status in the group.

  • Provocative and thought-provoking.
