Can anyone explain to me why in California it's the law to have emergency vehicles have at least one 'steady-burn' red light in the front? We don't have that in Canada.
@MidnightPolak It's just a relic of ye olde days when spotlights were used as emergency lights, to my knowledge. Even CHP still uses red spotlights in addition to other lighting. Nobody really wants to waste time and money rewriting the law because it wouldn't provide any monetary benefits.
@OfficerNelson No. California has a law that states there must be a constant burning amber or red light. Not sure why, as it serves no purpose, but that is the law.
@dakeyjake I was explaining why the law exists, it was just because lawmakers got all specific and nobody's really bothered to expand the definition of an emergency vehicle since then. CHP uses red spotlights mostly as a relic since the Visions and their new LEDs all have steady-burn anyways.
