  • Velveeta anyone?

  • Despite this song being a Top 10 hit you never hear this song on the radio at all

  • Robbie hit #10 in Billboard, 8-1-87. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • for what ever reason... i can hear this song REALLY REALLY WELL !!!

  • Uv'e gotta chill sometymes......Then get it going!!!!!!!!!

  • That tall chick in the jeans and black top looks like Julia Roberts.

  • they did an episode of Dexter from this location, first episode ever

  • That woman on the drums is hot !.....and that prick on the guitar looks like eddie murphy cmon!

  • A *VERY* close second to C'est la vie as my fave Nevil tune.

A #10 hit is pretty big in my book!

  • lol, he stole Andie McDowell's hair.

  • kja427 he made 5 or 6 albums in 1 year?

Popculture20 Justin bieber was around in the early 80's?

  • wwwretromusicacom/robbie-nevil-el-recuerdo-de-una-promesa/

  • What a girl

  • He was a one year wonder; the thing is, if you want to be a legend in The Biz, you've got to do it over a period of YEARS. Mr. Nevil, didn't, and that's sad.

  • He was SOOOOO HOT back in the day!

  • @MissTia777 sure was... saw a pic of him, he had cut off that gorgeous hair :((((

  • I love this song---remember it well.

It had a slight Reggae feel to it.

  • don't tell but I would leave my husband for Robbie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is sexy like a man should be.

  • ahhh the cassette days, and the music scene is waaaay too commercialized, look at Pat Benatar they tried to make her into something she was not and she quit...still going to this day...Robbie had a unique sound ....

  • Reminds me alot of Scritti Politti...

  • @m3rnn0el no problem thanks for the upload. Cheers!

  • ''Whats a Julia'' LOL

  • I loved this song when I was younger. Hadnt heard it since then! Thanks for posting!!

  • I looooove his hair, I want to have some like these !

  • Why wasn't she 'all dressed in red' in the video? Love the song, but that just seemed off to me. Also thought the guy with the parrot hair-do was awesome!

  • RIP Robbie .... GONE TOO SOON!

  • @Doubleshot98 Is he dead ?!

  • @Doubleshot98 Just visited his official homepage, no need to write RIP, he is alive!

  • Just look at him! eye candy!♥♥♥♥♥

  • The cat in this video is the coolest animal in existence.....

  • omg. is there a not more perfect video to represent the 80's. lip sinking, dated clothes (where are the skinny ties?) and the most important element??? a tunes that is stuck in your head till the end of the week! i doubt this rift could be pulled off today. probably turned into a rap song if it was. sorry kids, mom wont let u have this much sugar. put your helmets back on and use hand sanitizer before you eat.

  • I never liked the long hair type but man he is soooo fine!! i loved him when i was a kid.

  • he's just so...so...HAWT... :)

  • Oh yes he is HOT HOT HOT! OMG!

  • classic! thanx!

  • i use to have this on a 45

  • what do we have to exactly.

  • Thanks to all who have replied to me. I'm glad to learn that this track did well in the US. In the UK Chart it peaked at a mere #43!

Why wasn't Robbie more successful as a solo artist? It still baffles me little. But some people have suggested he could have taken more care over his image and I kind of agree with that. I've seen clips of his "live" appearences and he seems not so charismatic as we see him in this video. I can't help feeling maybe he was too shy to be a pop star...?

  • Hit #10 pop, #69 soul in Billboard. God bless!

  • Oh the hair... memories.

  • Gosh i soo rememba him bck den & i stil like is music nw thanks 4 sharing is soundz with us

  • I'm surprised that he wasn't a bigger star. His voice is great and his music still hold up even today.

  • Hey, that was the first song (back in the days when I started listening music at all) that I really loved. Bought the album some years later when I had my fist money - and I love this album and nearly all songs of it still today. Just great songwriting and singing !

  • He sounds a lot like Kenny Loggins. But I don't mean that as a put-down, I like Kenny too.

  • @ganubby you know, now that you mention it, I detect a little of Kenny's voice in Robbie's too. Robbie's favorties for me were "Wot's It To Ya" and "C'est La Vie" and my favorite from Kenny's was "Danger Zone."

  • You're dang right, oliversgirl2009. This was Robbie's 3rd top 40. Hit #10 in Billboard.

  • @DaveWollenberg Cool at least we know it hit the top 10. This is a song I wish they still played from Robbie...all of his hits seem to have been forgotten, even for retro weekend, his songs have not been played. And he did have a few for 1987 and again in 1991 I believe.

  • Fun video, fun song. I actually just got a Jeremy Jordan tape at a thrift store that contained some RN songs so that's why I looked him up. Until today, the only RN song I knew was C'est La Vie.

  • @africkinamerican Yeah I forgot Nevil had written for Jordan. Both artists, ubelievably HOT(Jeremy still is to this day) I have his album "Try My Love" but honestly the only tune off there I remember is "The Right Kind of Love" sometimes I wished it were me he were singing it too!

  • That chick on the drums is hot!

  • God I love his voice and music!

  • can u believe vh1 had the BALLS to say robbie was a 1 hit wonder???? this rocks!

  • @oliversgirl2009 yeah not exactly. That's where VH1 was dead wrong! Way off on that one(and several others artists of the time as well) there was this one, Dominoes, C'est La Vie and For Your Mind. That's not 1 hit ppl!(I think these people need to go back to school and get their fucking facts straight before they broadcast this stuff, you can't give out faulty info)

  • I have to admit, The girl with the dark hair playing the tambores is a devilistically hot babe!!!!! And no, she's not Daphnie Zuniga!!!! This girl is hotter!!!!

  • Brie Howard Darling (Brandi Brants mother)

  • I really miss the 80s and MTV. Too much crap out now...

  • well thank God for Paolo Nutini!!! He's about the only one out there now worth listening to... true talent, like Robbie..

  • Yes, having someone like Paolo around means there is some hope for today's music.

  • Godness he is so hot!!

  • sure was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wish he would stop writing for Disney and put out another album, he deserved to be #1 back then, but too much competition, he would do so well now!

  • @bmrocks59 Me too! even a comeback tour would be nice , with some other groups or artist from the 80's ,cause I feel like we got cheated out of a lot of his music ,

  • it would be awesome, I would love a tour of groups/artists from the 80s, all together for a 3 day weekend somewhere central...

  • @spitts63 I know he's produced and written for other aristis coz I checked out a website for his music, and he also produced music for the High School Musical movies(Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale) So at least I'm happy he still exists today doing something in the music business, though wouldn't hurt to see him do vocals again too. he's 49 today btw

  • @spitts63 Maybe people on youtube should start something, kind of like what facebook did for Betty White.. do you think it would work???

  • @ashley19smom Sorry i like his voice BUT he DOES look GAY!!! LOL..

    CM

  • I love this song! He was one of my FAVORITE artists in the 80s!

    WITY?!

  • Sexy!!!

  • I think it's hilarious that he writes for Disney's High School Musical series now. I knew the style that was coming through was his.

  • the girl playing on drums is a little devil..

  • Comment removed

  • No, it's WITY . . . Wot's It To Ya.

This is really a great song!

  • I still have his first two albums and they still sound good today. He's got some terrific songs.

  • absolutely, love the first 2 the best, the third is good but the first 2 are amazing, all great songs, can't believe how truly talented this guy is, i sure wish he'd would come out with something else... soon..

  • Brilliant! Why wasn't this a bigger hit? Why wasn't Robbie more successful than he was? It baffled me then and it baffles me now...

  • Completely agree with you! I only thought he had 3 songs, honestly, not enough air play, lousy management?? not sure, but love his music now and just ordered all 3 of his CDs.. want to hear more of him...

  • @mirage123451 Yeah he had all the makings of a great pop artist. Really catchy pop tunes. And I love this title. It's my theme song to all the nozy fucks of the world who really don't need to know jack that don't concern them. my aunt says the same thing! At least we know Robbie soldiered on as producer to the HSM movies, which of course were famous

  • @mirage123451 Well, this song was a Top 10 single, so it indeed was a hit.

  • @mirage123451 it was big money involed mr robbie was into his music

  • @mirage123451 he probably was'nt the music industries marketing type

  • @mirage123451 it hit #10. That's good!

  • @hithr3000 ...but only #43 here in the UK.

    Scandalous.

  • @mirage123451 i like 'dominoes' better but that barely missed the top 10. now that's scandalous :oO

  • Comment removed

  • @hithr3000 - Dominoes peaked at #25 in the UK. Perhaps some kind of joint Senate/Parliamentary inquiry is called for...?

  • @mirage123451 and a karate chop too XD

  • @mirage123451 Cause his CLIPS are CRAP!! He has an AWESOME VOICE but thats as far as it goes unfortunately!

    CM

  • this guy is damn sexy and very talented!

  • this Dude is right! I might have to cover this song. The reggae undertone is groovin'.

  • respect ...

  • Hilarious....Gives new meaning to the term "trashy" entertainment! The funny thing though, is that the music really isn't trashy at all - it still sounds great, 20+ years later.

  • I agree with Iknkn, we definitely need to bring back the 80's genre, it was a very defining decade, not to mention the best!!

  • O man- Wot's it to ya? Havent heard this song since 1987 when i saw it on MTV. Loved it then, love it now. Certainly a forgotten classic

  • I used to think he was hot when I was like 12 **slaps self in face**

  • well i never though that back when he was doing this video, but now, i think he is HOT!

  • i've seen this video back in 1987 when I was on vacation in san diego visiting my mother.

  • Thanks for posting this! I LOVE this song and video! Robbie is so cute in it!

  • This is one of the songs that stayed with me through the years, I don't know why but I love it love it! The video is classic 80's cheese which makes its so much better.

  • Anybody know what happened to Robbie?

  • Robbiel has been producing and writing for other artists. He co-wrote three songs on the High School Musical soundtrack: "The Start of Something New", "We're All In This Together" and "I Can't Take My Eyes Off of You." He co-wrote the theme song to Hannah Montana, "The Best of Both Worlds", and co-wrote three other songs that appear on the Hannah Montana soundtrack album. He's written tracks on the first four Hilary Duff's albums, too.

  • robbie has an amazing voice, so many mamories...miss the 80s anybody whit me?

  • that drummer chick is hot

  • im with you 100% we need to bring back the 80s and get rid of this crappy music today

  • totaly agree, everything was better then, Raise the 80's

  • robbie has an amazing voice, so many mamories...miss the 80s anybody whit me?

  • I love the comments on it it is very long but I love it.

  • I like his collaborations with Al Jarreau in "L is for a lover" album

  • I wish that Robbie Nevil should get his haircut to make him look nice

  • it was the 80s.

  • hahahaha!

  • is it daphne zuniga melrose place at 033 ?

  • No,is not...if you keep watching the video you'll see is not her...She's on the Ces't la vie clip...

  • LOL at the cat at 2:08

  • I think I saw the drummer in an Alexander O'neal video called 'Criticize!'

  • perfect song {(°_°)}

  • 19-freakin'-87. Enough said!!!!

  • this songs got such an energy...reminds me a bit of celebrate youth...

  • I don't like this version of this song. I always liked the extended version alot. If anyone has it please download it or I'll go crazy.LOL Thanks

  • Mr.High School Musical 2 co-writer for "I Don't Dance" really funky.I talked to him in the 80's when I worked for the label. He was so soft spoken and I liked him and his music.Go Robbie.

  • Me too!!

  • I don't know why but I like this song lol!

  • The lady on the drums is Brie Howard / Brandt / Darling. Her daughter is Playboy Playmate Brandi Brandt.

  • he has a great voice. before i'd seen him i had always thought that he was black. my mistake!

  • The lady on the drums rocks. She can bang on my ass cheeks.

  • Classic 80's hit. What's he doing now?

  • you just can't go more 80's than this.....jeeeeeeessus!

  • 80,s cheese but her on the drums is THE DOGS DANGLY BITS. It,s the only reason I searched for it...!

  • Robbie is still working with new artists like Jesse McCartney and many more.

  • 80's videos rock. All you see today is either to many big butts shaking or a performance video. Robbie Nevil did have a string of things going in the 80's. He did a lot

of song writting and producing. He put out his own record cause record executives said he had the talent. Hey he made some bucks what about you cracking on this video hes more famous then youll ever be. Peace out...

  • That's right!

  • I can see why Robbie Nevile went the way of the Dinosaur...this is tragic 'comedy pop gold' -- this video probably cost him his career...that's if he ever had one.

    P.S. Flag as inappropriate

  • I can see why Robbie Nevile went the way of the Dinosaur...this is tragic 'comedy pop gold' -- this video probably cost him his career...that's if he ever had one.

  • It's not funny to me, because this is this 80's. The most videos were cheesy.

  • I kept waiting for people to be drinking Dr. Pepper.

  • I would love to do a psychological study on anyone who does not feel completely embarrassed for the people who appear in this video.

  • omg this is comedy gold.
