I just got the traxxas stampede with a xl5 transmitor and water proofing for on

i use the metal shock tops that traxxas sells. since i put those on i rarely have to mess with the shocks.

I have a Traxxas Stampede VXL and if i jump it 7ft with one battery i have to redo my shocks and replace my shaft in my shock. How do you prevent your shocks from breaking or bending and what type of battery are you using?
