The horn on a G could best be described as the sound of a cast iron whoopie cushion. But in good weather they were fun to run. Especially up the Port Road.
OK to those who find inaccuracys with the sounds of these 8mm movies, I dubbed them in from my present Mini DV video tapes, a time consuming project! I never said I was a pro, in fact this is my first venture with this sort of thing.
whenever I see one of these I alway wonder what the fate of the locomotive was and the fate of all those fine American Made Automobiles(with safe throttle pedals).
This GG1 didn't seem too quiet.... Was it the diesel ones that were? Anyways, cool video! For some reason, even though I like seeing AEM7s and the Acela engines, I don't get tired of trains before my time XD.
QUESTION: what does the color white on the PRR cabins indicate? I know that yellow means that they could run on any division, but how about white?

Would have been better with a K-4! or L-1, or basically any PRR steamer!

Great old 8mm film, but needs the correct sound effects! I hear diesels while the GG1 and other motor are passing!

I remember steam and trolley cars and black and white tv.
And polio...now is better.

Before my time, in my time right now, and before my time. ROFL. SEPTA refurbished some old trolleys that weren't burned and run them on Route 15 now.
