Anybody who thinks Bush is the only one to blame for the messes we are in need only to listen to Barack Obama himself who said, "There is plenty of blame to go around." Clinton era deregulations that allowed the market to tank and a limp foreign policy that allowed Al-Quada to attack on 9/11.
I'll give you the limp foreign policy AND Clinton era deregulation. However, it was the Bush presidency that ignored terrorist attack warnings, blew off human rights, and managed to destroy every aspect of American dignity at home and in the world.

it really is much higher since the US government took on all the debt of fannie mae and freddie mac..which is much more than the current national debt.
In 2000, US even had some budget surplus and could have paid back some of the debt. Republicans jumped on it and cut taxes for the riches instead of paying off the debt.
Then the war started without knowing how much it would cost. Original estimate was overly optimistic and soon kept adding by billions.
Sure, the Dems were partly to blame for allowing it to happen but don't forget who was the initiator.
George Bush's decisions were tough on the American people. The only danger this nation had to fear was that of George Bush and Dick Cheney. This once was a great country, and now thanks to Bush and Dick's policies and bright ideas, we're the next coming of the Roman Empire. Bush didn't protect us, Bush exposed us even more after what his dad knew he couldn't get away in 90s by invading Iraq.
It's only a matter of time Bush and Cheney will see their day in hell.

George bush chose to protect us and he knew he wouldnt be the most popular guy but he chose the protection of his country over popularity. Nonetheless, George CATAsTROPHOBUSH is the primal example of what happen when a nation get too comfortable with its political system. We have been asleep for very long, a bush and his cronies came to wake us up rashly with their hitler's like policies and war mongering. The man and his staff should go to jail for putting this nation to shame and so much economic difficulties. Along with fox news!
We are more at risk now because of bush's words and actions. Many people now have a legitimate reason for why America should be attacked, becaues America is directly or indirectly responsible for the murder, maiming, torture, displacement of millions of people. In fact, the world at large is a more dangerous place because of the 'war on terror' scare they created
