that is a pretty good idea..you have enough time to work on form in the air.. and you have to land on a high jump mat because if u jump in to sand with a spring board, your gonna get to much height and break your ankles.
you use the springboard so you have ample time in the air to work on form. The mat is for nice easy landings, that you can do over and over again, with out getting sand in your shoes, and also to build confidence.

Actually, Chema is partially correct. The hitch kick's purpose is to prepare you for the landing and keep you from over-rotating. Although, you don't have to be jumping 22 feet to make use of it.
how far do u normaly jump cause u shouldnt b running in the air unless u jump like 22+ cause all it is, is to prepare for landing and to not over rotate but if u cant even jump far theres no point
