  • Best version on youtube. Overwhelming !

  • There's nothing quite like listening to Vivica Genaux do baroque virtuoso arias. She's bloody brilliant! :oD

  • Pure excitement!! Brilliant!!

  • @harpsinth Please forgive me Vivica....

All your shiny fabric gowns & jackets are fine, lovely, your White blouse with frills is lovely,

but please....best to leave the jackets like this green one behind....

  • @bf2019

Sorry about my early comment. I swear I did not want to be unpolished with her -

she sings wonderful and the dressing really can´t tell nothing about a person.

Acctually I really prefer to post less "dangerous" comments. Hug and peace.

    Luiz / harpsichordist.

  • @harpsinth Thanks Harpsinth: to Vivica & all I Totally apologize: how do I know the situation maybe it was Cold there, like Biondi & the Cathedral...what do I know?.Frankly I am clear that this is, in my opinion the finest recording of the Dopo Notte in existence. Perhaps the Green Jacket is part of a cause for some of the finest Singing of all Time. I know Nothing! My comments were nonsense reactions going on in my own mind...please let them to be ground to dust...I simple Grouvle here. Thanks

  • Ya know it's something when it's over all you can do is shake your head and say, "That was just stupid" and somehow mean that in the highest praise.

  • BEST DA CAPO EVER EVER EVER!!! Thrilling, from start to finish.

  • I wish she had a CD with this aria included.

  • Oh Vivica, why don't you come to Portugal?

  • I love Vivica!!!... I saw her here in Chile singing Cenerentola

  • This is one of the most rediculously ornamented da capo's I've ever heard (rediculous being good in this instance).

    Wow, just wow.

"Revolutionary" almost sounds disingenuous. We must invent a word to descibe this!

  • See you, everybody, at Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, december 14 for a magnificent duo EUROPA GALANTE (Fabio BIONDI) - Vivica GENEAUX on a VIvaldi's program.

  • She will sing in BRAZIL ! OMG I can't wait to see her ! Her second concert will be in my birthday....what a gift from heaven !

  • Genauxbr, very nice nickname :-)

I envy you, I'd love to hear this baroque concert again, I read she'll sing "Dopo Notte" and the legendary "Qual Guerriero" on her tour. I'm an incurable Vivica-victim, last year I travelled 8x after her. Unfortunately Brazil is too far for my time&money budget. ENJOY the concert!

  • Gudrun74

thank you for your msg :)

Genauxbr shows that I am also a "Vivica-victim" - It will be nice if she really sings "Qual Guerriero" ! "Dopo Notte" is in the program.

I hope to see her 2 concerts !

I will enjoy the concerts for sure.

    ( I envy you : you travelled 8x after her !)

  • Hello Gudrun74. I'm a great Vivica fan. It's always been a pleasure to watch your videos and I could never imagine one day I would be able see her live, that day happened when she came to Brazil. I travelled 1.000 km to see her! I got a seat on the first row, at her feet!!! It was amazing. The program they released on the press did not contain dopo notte, much to my disappointment, but when I got the Concert Program at the concert hall, I saw she would sing it, I cannot describe the joy I felt

  • Guiradobrasil, I know exactly that feeling. In this concert in Lyon, it hadn't been announced neither beforehand, then I arrived, opened the program and read: Dopo Notte! Almost fainted, really, I physically shivered during a couple of minutes only thinking(!) of it. Lucky you that you got that seat :-)

  • @Genauxbr you are very lucky :-)

  • Wow, I fell in love with Vivica after her "Arias for Farinelli" album. Man, This is great thank you for posting. Have been watching it over and over. Does she even breath?!!!!

Wow, her Da Capo is Magnificent!!! What a treat to hear this on Handel's Death Anniversary. Vas y vivica!!!

  • Good Lord gracious! :)

  • Okay, Gudrun, you've convinced me. This live performance leaves Dame Janet's 1972 studio recording in the dust. I can't even imagine how exciting it must've been to be there.

  • Her da capo is revolutionary! And Dopo Notte Handel's greatest aria.

  • oops to clarify I mean the one that was recorded in Paris @ Salle Pleyel last week. It was the last aria she sang, as an encore.

  • Yes, I was there. Joyce was great and she sang a wonderful "Dopo notte".

  • I heard all of Joyce's concerts so far (Madrid, Ams, Paris, London) either on radio or personally. Her Dopo Notte is wonderful. Joyce and Vivica are both perfect in their way and for me the only singers who are able to sing DN in a satisfying way. Joyce plays out her full range of emotions, Vivica has the more exciting da capo ornaments. I profoundly love both versions and I'm THANKFUL that they have sung them. Even if not properly recorded - YET, I hope for Vivi's announced recital CD!!!

  • fabulous indeed, but don't you think her da capo is a little too much? I love VG but when it comes to dopo notte, I think I prefer Joyce DD

  • Haha have you heard DiDonato's radio version of this? I love this aria xD

  • Brava!! Vivica is the only performer who has been able to fully reconcile the demands for authoritative virtuoso singing with the joyous nature of this aria, and this is a live rec! there are no safety nets in her interpretation of this treacherous aria and she displays all the confidence necessary in order to take the measure of this wonderful aria.

  • Thank you so much Gudrun74. The quality is really excellent.
