"Global Warming" however, has not been proven to be true by any scientific study from any organization in the world. So as far as greenhouse gasses go, I'm not too concerned.
As I recall on the news, the group that proposed the information for "The Inconvient Truth" actually took back their analysis and retitled the effect "Global Climate Change." Well no shit the climate is changing, it does every fucking year. I'm just saying.
The process of burning Hydrogen is cleaner than burning hydrocarbons but has drawbacks.
The unburned fuel, ozone, and carbon monoxide in the exhaust from burning hydrocarbons are broken down in the environment into harmless stable molecules.
The unburned hydrogen that leaks out of systems, and escapes combustion is released into the environment but instead of being reincorporated into earth... it rises to the top of the atmosphere and leaks out into space, gone forever
The combustion process returns to the atmosphere carbon dioxide, a harmless odorless invisible gas that plants breath and need for life.
Plants lock up co2 over time depleting the atmosphere of and making life harder for plants. fewer plants and less atmosphere results in less oxygen for humans to breath. T-Rex once roamed the earth in an atmosphere 3 times denser than what it is today. It's lungs were the size of a modern horses lungs. returning co2 to the atmosphere is restoring earth
The internal combustion engine combines air and hydrocarbon fuel to make power.
The carbon in the fuel polymerizes with the oxygen in the air to create heat, carbon dioxide (a harmless odorless gas that plants breath) and water.
As the carbon and oxygen polymerize, the heat creates pressure. The water turns to steam and expands and the compressed and heated nitrogen expands as the piston moves down the cylinder turning the heat into work. Combustion byproducts are water and carbon dioxide.
Even the most economic 125cc at 5000 rpm destroys as much oxygen in 30 minutes as one person breathes in 2 days according to NASA. Don't think about fuel consumption and oil prices. Think about gasping for air for two days. Think about why more and more people die of cancer. Loud pipes - yes, if you've got loudspeakers in 'em. I would like to see a dual motor bike ( one in the front hub and the other in the back one), that would give the advantage of a 2WD bike, powered by those A123 batteries that would be impressive
From what I read it only goes about 50 or 60 miles miles between charges and it takes about 8 hours to fully charge. Everytime I ride I go a lot futher than that. Too quite. You need some noise for other people to hear you
Riight, save the planet by spending electricity. That would be a great idea if all electricity came from solar energy and hydro plants, which it doesn't.
I have seen home made crotch rockets converted to electric with better range and top speed. And it all hides under the origanal side panles. This thing looks like some one put a glossy black tarp over the motor on a chopper. Looks like shit to me! You want people to buy that?
hahahah true you're more likely going to fall of or get pulled off the road by the police bcause you're going too slow and when you tell them it's a hybrid motorcykle it's going to be the most awkward moment EVER in your life Hahahahaha
Loud pipes/exhaust don't really save lives, to all of you saying it.
Loud exhaust just tells people you're there, not where you are, I can introduce you to someone who rides a 1400 Harley Soft Tail who got ran over last year, and to another guy whose been ran over twice riding his Harley with loud exhaust, I'm not sure what bike he rides, just know it's a Harley.
Sound is escaping on your motorcycle but most of it goes behind it when you're travelling at speed. A loud pipe is useless till you get to the rear quarter of the car. I've heard biks in the cage before but you really don't hear it until they are right next to you. My bike's loud as hell but i don't rely on that factor to keep me alive on the road. I rely on roadcraft and positioning on the road.
Being a good/aware rider is what keeps someone alive, the pipe does have an effect but its minimal
My dad's V-Star is very quiet as you can see from my video, and we've not been close to getting in wrecks at all while riding, rider awareness is a good part of riding.
My dad did almost get hit on his KLR650 though, a women pulled out in front of him but he didn't hit her because he was paying attention.
Another reason electrics are not dominant today is the simplicity: Parts and service make up for a huge proportion of automakers profits. The main reason of course the behind the scenes tactics of big oil. Why did Chevron buy the battery technology that ran the EV1 (for up to 150miles per charge) and then sue Toyota for using a similar battery in the RAV4 and refuse to licence it to them?
that's why we are now stuck with an overly expensive lithium ion battery of which there is a limited supply.
here is en example for you: in the 80s (maybe late 70s) zastava who was licenced to make their own version of fiat 500 car, made an electric variant. and guess what - even though it was just a few demo units, they sold them for less then the price of alreadu cheap petrol models. compare that to the reva, which is neither crash tested, nor built for motorway (yet legal) and the full cost is £12000 ($18000). Sorry, but you'd have to be stupid not to think it's a rip off.
electric is toy compared to petrol vehicles, but they cost a lot! electric engines are dead simple to make and install, yet electric cars are more expensive than many petrol or diesel models... add to this the cost of replacing batteries every 2 -3 years, and i think it's a no for me!
Too bad you are so ill informed about electric vehicles. Electric power is far superior in every way to combustion. Batteries will get better over time and are still cheaper than all the gas and maintenance you will spend on a gas vehicle over time. Do the math. They are only more expensive to begin with because you spend it all up front. They will be cheaper than gas cars eventually when the production numbers increase. BTW the batteries in the Toyota RAV4 electrics are still going 10+ years
there are multiple electro-motors in every car. take the petrol engine out, and leave the electric ones, just switch their funciton, and for some reason, suddenly you get a car that is twice as expensive! i never said electric power is inferior, i only said electric cars are far simpler, and should be cheaper. especially given the current battery limitations. back in the 70s and 80s there were quite a few models, and they were all dead cheap! exactly as they should be! so why the high cost now?
I'm just taking issue with the "toy" comment. Some reasons electric cars seem to be expensive: Some of them are luxury cars. (Tesla), There are a few cheaper models out (Zenn $12,000 Can.) but like the ones from the 70's they are not crash tested or built for highway use.(Citicar) It's also a matter of quantitiy as most of the available electric cars are practically custom coach-built.
Another clue: GM made most of it's money selling large expensive cars, another reason not to make electric.
it would be very strange for a biker to drive a bike that doesnt make any sound at all ... i mean u actually install a fucking ipod to emulate the sound of a bike like the invetor said ... i dont know for now its just to freakin weird ...maybe in the future there will be lots of electric bikes ...but while we have gas why bodder
yea well...id have to say that this past weekends ride gave me a best of 62 mpg's...id say thats pretty damn good for a cruiser so ill take gas all day long
your forgetting scooters are not attractive to 95% of real bike riders, plus allot of guys who drive cars want a real bike, not a scooter if they are going to make a jump to save on gas.
no real biker would consider swapping a harley for an electric bike(yet) no matter what it looks like.. I see electric bikes a good choice for those who live in urban areas , they are perfect for the city
i know two guys who are serious bikers, one only has his bike license and for 25 years has never driven a car, both have driven a proper electric bike, proper being a converted ninja that is faster than its petrol equivalent, and both are waiting for a big manufacturer to bring a bike out.
The market is ready, the makers are just too slow.
The battery blowing up not likely , I work with those batteries every day , you obviosly know nothing about lithium ion or lithium polymer , funny considering most bikers don't mind sitting on 5+ gallons of gasoline
I work with lithium batteries too as do most people. There's a reason why the charging circuit has temperature monitoring and why you are supposed to use a charger specifically made for it.
Gasoline is dangerous but I haven't heard of a tank just blowing up during normal operation since I heard the news of cell phone batterys exploding while people were talking on the phone.
Electric vehicles are the way to go. No fuel, no oil, no exhaust, no pollution, no vibration, no shifting, no clutching, just twist and go... I love it.
zero emissions is misleading, all your really doing is moving the emissions from the vehicle to the power plant. If your power comes from 100% hydro, solar, and/or wind then zero emissions would be correct but most get majority of their power from coal burning power plants.
loud pipes probably don't save as many lives as attentive drivers and pedestrians using good judgment. think of the times U've been listening to the radio in your car and were still alert enough to avoid an accident.
i happen to like the silence of electric vehicles.
Everyone seems to go "Electric" now days but if everyone goes Electric the same thing will happen, electricity will cost a Fortune because it will be at a High Demand...if you could run your bike on water it would be the same water would be Very Expensive if everyone would use it as fuel, is one thing with another.....
sargmann go off grid and produce your own power or buy a small solar panel and batteries to charge it with then you are in control of the power source and it only causes maintenance to use it off grid self sufficient is the way to go if you can
So, how far can you go until the batteries have to be replaced (not recharged)? How much do they cost to replace? And what cost per mile does THAT give you?
Fair enough, but how far do you go in a gasoline vehicle before the Transmission goes out? How about the fuel pump? The mass-air-flow sensor? How many times do you need to change oil? etc etc etc...
like most (and truthfully, I mean all) electric bikes I've seen, its only 1 speed. you need at least 2 gears on an electric bike. The thing can go well over 130, why limit it to 50?
Fucking idiot... How do you go from "ridiculously loud exhausts as a safely device" to thinking you can guess my socioeconomic status? Go back to doing your paper round and stick to watching music videos kid!!
I have seen your type many times - you put down everything that you can't afford to have. The fact that you seem so upset proves that I was right about you.
How the fuck do you think you can visualize my bank balance? Got a crystal ball over there? I could buy a Harley right now for cash, but what has that got to do with how much noise they make?? Retard!
If you had ever ridden a motorcycle you wouldn't be making such ignorant comments.
I just got back from the store less than an hour ago and avoided being backed into by some girl in her SUV by revving the engine of my Harley - she immediately stopped her car and looked around and saw me. This kind of stuff happens everyday and loud pipes do save lives - it's a fact.
You simply have no idea what you are talking about.
Now your insults have moved from my financial status to whether I've even ridden a bike, how is it you think you know the 1st thing about me mate??
I rode bikes on the road when I was a KID but I know at least 3 friends who died on roadbikes and another who's leg broke in 13 places, all caused by crashes with 'other' drivers. If you're stupid enough to ride on the road then don't be surprised when the inevitable death and serious injury statistics catch up with you.
You said, "If you're stupid enough to ride on the road then don't be surprised when the inevitable death and serious injury statistics catch up with you."
Spoken like the non-rider that you are - it's people like you that are the problem out there because you don't think motorcyclists should even be on the road.
Mate, now you're telling me what my attitudes are.
Just ignore reality mate, that 70% of riders who buy 750cc roadbikes or larger are dead within 12 months!
If you're happy to put your life in the hands of your average moronic driver, go right ahead... but seeing as I have personally know 4 people who had there lives ended or permanently disabled.. I'd say your choice is stupid!
You said, "Just ignore reality mate, that 70% of riders who buy 750cc roadbikes or larger are dead within 12 months!"
That is a complete lie and a statistic that you just made up - you really are a moron. Post the link here to a reliable source that proves that outrageous statement that you made.
I have dozens of friends that have ridden large motorcycles for many years and they are still alive.
Apparently your friends that died were just as stupid as you.
Since the facts do not agree with your outrageous statements - maybe you are the one that lives in denial.
You sound like someone that is too scared of what bad thing could happen to ever do any real living. Soon enough you are going to die anyway, no matter how cautious you try to live your life.
The rest of us are more realistic than you and have decided to live life with some balls. I guarantee we enjoy ourselves a helluva lot more than you do pussy.
I think you replied to me by mistake; I am sure you were probably wanting to reply to tsport100 as he was the one in here making the outrageous statements that all bikers are going to crash and die.
o i know that an accdent is inevitable but if they hear you before they hit you they can do something were as if your silent you are undetectable and therefore u get the full force of the vehicle
air horn??? a silent bike scares me a little too and you dont always see them first to use a horn, 50cal on the handle bars?? yeah I know I'm being stupid now but I have tossed a few wrenches in my life
so its a glorified scooter then....really dumb

Exactly.
Pipes just give the bike character. Not safety.
My dad's V-Star is very quiet as you can see from my video, and we've not been close to getting in wrecks at all while riding, rider awareness is a good part of riding.
My dad did almost get hit on his KLR650 though, a women pulled out in front of him but he didn't hit her because he was paying attention.
As every rider should.

the description says it will save the planet, thats a retarded comment considering that motorcycles get like 60-70 miles a gallon.

Another reason electrics are not dominant today is the simplicity: Parts and service make up for a huge proportion of automakers profits. The main reason of course the behind the scenes tactics of big oil. Why did Chevron buy the battery technology that ran the EV1 (for up to 150miles per charge) and then sue Toyota for using a similar battery in the RAV4 and refuse to licence it to them?
that's why we are now stuck with an overly expensive lithium ion battery of which there is a limited supply.
rickylarch 2 years ago 2
here is en example for you: in the 80s (maybe late 70s) zastava who was licenced to make their own version of fiat 500 car, made an electric variant. and guess what - even though it was just a few demo units, they sold them for less then the price of alreadu cheap petrol models. compare that to the reva, which is neither crash tested, nor built for motorway (yet legal) and the full cost is £12000 ($18000). Sorry, but you'd have to be stupid not to think it's a rip off.
Acibeb 2 years ago
electric is toy compared to petrol vehicles, but they cost a lot! electric engines are dead simple to make and install, yet electric cars are more expensive than many petrol or diesel models... add to this the cost of replacing batteries every 2 -3 years, and i think it's a no for me!
Acibeb 2 years ago
Too bad you are so ill informed about electric vehicles. Electric power is far superior in every way to combustion. Batteries will get better over time and are still cheaper than all the gas and maintenance you will spend on a gas vehicle over time. Do the math. They are only more expensive to begin with because you spend it all up front. They will be cheaper than gas cars eventually when the production numbers increase. BTW the batteries in the Toyota RAV4 electrics are still going 10+ years
rickylarch 2 years ago
there are multiple electro-motors in every car. take the petrol engine out, and leave the electric ones, just switch their funciton, and for some reason, suddenly you get a car that is twice as expensive! i never said electric power is inferior, i only said electric cars are far simpler, and should be cheaper. especially given the current battery limitations. back in the 70s and 80s there were quite a few models, and they were all dead cheap! exactly as they should be! so why the high cost now?
Acibeb 2 years ago
I'm just taking issue with the "toy" comment. Some reasons electric cars seem to be expensive: Some of them are luxury cars. (Tesla), There are a few cheaper models out (Zenn $12,000 Can.) but like the ones from the 70's they are not crash tested or built for highway use.(Citicar) It's also a matter of quantitiy as most of the available electric cars are practically custom coach-built.
Another clue: GM made most of it's money selling large expensive cars, another reason not to make electric.
rickylarch 2 years ago
it would be very strange for a biker to drive a bike that doesnt make any sound at all ... i mean u actually install a fucking ipod to emulate the sound of a bike like the invetor said ... i dont know for now its just to freakin weird ...maybe in the future there will be lots of electric bikes ...but while we have gas why bodder

Good start.. But I think emotorcycles need there own idenity rather than all these conversions, then we will see a real market for them.

it's ugly .... they need to concentrate on smaller scooter type
not choppers..
mac2k2020 3 years ago
your forgetting scooters are not attractive to 95% of real bike riders, plus allot of guys who drive cars want a real bike, not a scooter if they are going to make a jump to save on gas.
obzelite 3 years ago
no real biker would consider swapping a harley for an electric bike(yet) no matter what it looks like.. I see electric bikes a good choice for those who live in urban areas , they are perfect for the city
mac2k2020 3 years ago
i know two guys who are serious bikers, one only has his bike license and for 25 years has never driven a car, both have driven a proper electric bike, proper being a converted ninja that is faster than its petrol equivalent, and both are waiting for a big manufacturer to bring a bike out.
The market is ready, the makers are just too slow.
obzelite 3 years ago 3
exactly my point when manufacturers will be ready to offer competitive products then we can talk .. right now they better stick to scooters
mac2k2020 3 years ago
that depends where you get your power from :P

I'd be more concerned about the battery blowing up and/or my injuries but that's just me.
killer2600 3 years ago
all vehicles already carry batteries..
mac2k2020 3 years ago
They don't all carry lithium batteries, they have more of a tendency to explode when damaged.
killer2600 3 years ago
The battery blowing up not likely , I work with those batteries every day , you obviosly know nothing about lithium ion or lithium polymer , funny considering most bikers don't mind sitting on 5+ gallons of gasoline
Titanis2000 2 years ago 29
I work with lithium batteries too as do most people. There's a reason why the charging circuit has temperature monitoring and why you are supposed to use a charger specifically made for it.
Gasoline is dangerous but I haven't heard of a tank just blowing up during normal operation since I heard the news of cell phone batterys exploding while people were talking on the phone.

American wouldn't understand what you're saying. Many of them are still living in the 80s.
mavic747 3 years ago
too true, pity its going to take a devastating event to bring them out of the 80's and then 80% of them will just think its an act of god.
obzelite 3 years ago
zero emissions is misleading, all your really doing is moving the emissions from the vehicle to the power plant. If your power comes from 100% hydro, solar, and/or wind then zero emissions would be correct but most get majority of their power from coal burning power plants.

Everyone seems to go "Electric" now days but if everyone goes Electric the same thing will happen, electricity will cost a Fortune because it will be at a High Demand...if you could run your bike on water it would be the same water would be Very Expensive if everyone would use it as fuel, is one thing with another.....
sargmann 3 years ago
sargmann go off grid and produce your own power or buy a small solar panel and batteries to charge it with then you are in control of the power source and it only causes maintenance to use it off grid self sufficient is the way to go if you can

So, how far can you go until the batteries have to be replaced (not recharged)? How much do they cost to replace? And what cost per mile does THAT give you?
KurtWoloch 3 years ago
Fair enough, but how far do you go in a gasoline vehicle before the Transmission goes out? How about the fuel pump? The mass-air-flow sensor? How many times do you need to change oil? etc etc etc...

like most (and truthfully, I mean all) electric bikes I've seen, its only 1 speed. you need at least 2 gears on an electric bike. The thing can go well over 130, why limit it to 50?

That bike is NOT equivalent to 500cc if it only goes 50 miles an hour. More like 50cc; that engine is only scooter stuff.
Neil6000 3 years ago 3
If that electric motorcycle doesn't make any noise then they better put redlights and a siren on it or many riders will die on a machine like that.
I don't care what anyone says, loud pipes have saved my life more than once, I have experienced it.
Probably automobile drivers don't like my loud pipes on my bike because it interferes with their cell phone conversations while they drive.

tsport100:
If you had ever ridden a motorcycle you wouldn't be making such ignorant comments.
I just got back from the store less than an hour ago and avoided being backed into by some girl in her SUV by revving the engine of my Harley - she immediately stopped her car and looked around and saw me. This kind of stuff happens everyday and loud pipes do save lives - it's a fact.
You simply have no idea what you are talking about.
Neil6000 3 years ago
Listen you fucking idiot.
If you're stupid enough to ride on the road then don't be surprised when the inevitable death and serious injury statistics catch up with you.
tsport100 3 years ago
tsport100:
You said, "If you're stupid enough to ride on the road then don't be surprised when the inevitable death and serious injury statistics catch up with you."
Spoken like the non-rider that you are - it's people like you that are the problem out there because you don't think motorcyclists should even be on the road.
Neil6000 3 years ago
Mate, now you're telling me what my attitudes are.
Just ignore reality mate, that 70% of riders who buy 750cc roadbikes or larger are dead within 12 months!
If you're happy to put your life in the hands of your average moronic driver, go right ahead... but seeing as I have personally know 4 people who had there lives ended or permanently disabled.. I'd say your choice is stupid!
Grow up!
tsport100 3 years ago
tsport100:
You said, "Just ignore reality mate, that 70% of riders who buy 750cc roadbikes or larger are dead within 12 months!"
That is a complete lie and a statistic that you just made up - you really are a moron. Post the link here to a reliable source that proves that outrageous statement that you made.
I have dozens of friends that have ridden large motorcycles for many years and they are still alive.
Apparently your friends that died were just as stupid as you.

You clowns live in denial... good luck with that! LOL
tsport100 3 years ago
tsport100:
Since the facts do not agree with your outrageous statements - maybe you are the one that lives in denial.
You sound like someone that is too scared of what bad thing could happen to ever do any real living. Soon enough you are going to die anyway, no matter how cautious you try to live your life.
The rest of us are more realistic than you and have decided to live life with some balls. I guarantee we enjoy ourselves a helluva lot more than you do pussy.
Neil6000 3 years ago
This just goes on and on!!
Of course there's no attempt to prove I'm wrong
Which stat do you want mate?
-36 times more likely to die.
-80% of reported bike crashes result in injury or death.
-Bikes make up 3% of registered vehicles but 15% of the road death toll.
-Motorcycles have 121 deaths or serious injuries per 100 million vehicle kilometers, compared to the corresponding figure of 2.6 for motorists.
And you think you're realistic?? LOL You make me laugh!
tsport100 3 years ago
tsport100:
The statement that I want you to prove is the one that you made earlier:
You said, "Just ignore reality mate, that 70% of riders who buy 750cc roadbikes or larger are dead within 12 months!"
Prove that one. You can't because it just isn't true.
