you talk to him on nar shadda and do certain things to gain influence with him.

Bring Atton along when you go into Nar Shadaa's refugee sector. Two shady Twileks will approach you and tell you Atton isn't who he is.

With a bit of influence, you can get Atton to spill his secrets and you can train him to be a Jedi after that.

You can talk to him in the lower levels of the Dantooine enclave, and you have to be female I think to have him as a party member. Talk to him and he will ask if he can come.
