Obviously stealing is wrong, but this is very interesting footage. My sentiments are pity for the robber and commendation for the shop owner. It can be speculated that this Recession really has made a lot of otherwise good people fall through the cracks. What he is doing is wrong, but its difficult to see the robber as an evil individual... just a desperate one. And the shopkeeper showed incredible calm and graciousness under the circumstances... a sad, and somewhat surreal situation.
The robber is preying on the weak - an elderly person. You don't see him robbing a fit 20-something who would knock that pea shoot out of his hands and have him face down on the floor with a foot against the back of his neck in 2 seconds flat. He's a career criminal, and he's setting the tone, keeping it low key, not drawing too much attention to himself or giving the cashier something to fight back against.

This is possibly one of the saddest things I've ever seen. I know a lot of people think that it's poor peoples own fault that they are poor, but that's just a meaningless generalization. We, who have connection to the Internet, a house, go to school, our family owns a car.. we are the lucky ones. :\
That's the reality.
And I'm sorry for this guy and his family. I hope that, somehow, things work out well.

We always have choices. The fact that he has kids is equally telling. What example is he setting for his family? He can get a job at Mcdonalds. I know it isn't the same. But when we are tested with poverty and wealth it shows what we really are inside behind all the pretense. on one hand, you can say this man was desperate and had no other choice; or you can say he was desperate and took the easy way out. Obviously stealing is wrong, but this is very interesting footage. My sentiments are pity for the robber and commendation for the shop owner. It can be speculated that this Recession really has made a lot of otherwise good people fall through the cracks. What he is doing is wrong, but its difficult to see the robber as an evil individual... just a desperate one. And the shopkeeper showed incredible calm and graciousness under the circumstances... a sad, and somewhat surreal situation.

The robber is preying on the weak - an elderly person. You don't see him robbing a fit 20-something who would knock that pea shoot out of his hands and have him face down on the floor with a foot against the back of his neck in 2 seconds flat. He's a career criminal, and he's setting the tone, keeping it low key, not drawing too much attention to himself or giving the cashier something to fight back against.
