Fellowship's Ministry was like a Modern-Day Noah's Ark. It carried the News of a City not made by man's hands. I truly believe that the Spirit took over way back in the 50s and will resound until Jesus' Return!!!
Can I be honest when I say that african american choirs sound so BEAUTIFUL when they go into their falsettos, it beats out any other choir I've heard in that part because their voices are so full and rich, I wish there was an african american gospel choir that sings in that style because the sound it creates is unreal. Im from New Zealand, a huge fan of african american gospel
This is one of the best choirs of all time I really do miss the broadcast I attended every Sunday. Love me Pastor and this choir to death and I really miss them.
Fellowship took the First Church of Deliverance version and made it their own. Have always enjoyed both versions equally. Do i ever miss the sunday night 9 pm LIVE broadcast. I made it a point every single sunday night to be at the radio and listen. The 80s and 90s produced some of the greatest radio church broadcasting. Fellowship, Christian Tabernacle, First Church of Deliverance, Cosmopolitan, Mt. Pisgah, Greater Harvest, New Nazereth, Reeds Temple, and the list goes on and on.
@gospmusluver Yes GOODNESS!! You just named some POWERHOUSE broadcasts. Cosmo, New Nazareth (the late Rev. J. E. Hopkins), and New Covenant (Pastor Thurston) used to be my afternoon line-up as I geared up to go back to the Ship for the 9:00 p.m. broadcast (that's if we ever left, as Pastor Evans would have us in church all day many Sundays...but we loved it!). Thanks for the comments and the memories. Be blessed!
Now, I must share this bit of history, as it seems SOOOOOOOOOOO many people fail to understand their heritage. THE COGIC WAS BORN OUT OF THE BAPTIST CHURCH. Also, consider this: "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun." (Ecclesiastes 1:9).
We are all of God. Our focus MUST remain on and in Him. Praise our God!
Incredible! I feel so blessed to have grown up in Fellowship!!!! The Spirit of God was awakened in us through the lessons, the music, the love and the Fellowship on a regular basis! We also learned how to use that Spirit to empower ourselves and others.
The Soprano that hit the note at the end was Yvette Markham Green...also when Felicia is doing back around she does not sing 1st soprano her sister does it and her name is Sylvia Coleman and when you listern to alot of old fellowship cds Sylvia Coleman isthe only one dueing 1st Soprano
@MrChamp217 wow, never heard of Sylvia Coleman. I guess soprano runs in the Colemans family lol. I have seen the video where Yvette sings even me. And she is an incredibly high soprano, so I am not surprised at all. Seems like she would be the one who would be able to deliver a note that high with that tone. Now thanks to your comment I know her middle name too.
@fstanley35, yes I hear the sopranos...There is someone in there who has an outstanding first soprano...At the end of this song, she stands on the top whoever she is...Just floating above the rafters...Loving it....
@okebaram Well you tell Sis. Coleman she has some instrument there...Please preserve it, and continue to use it for God's Glory...I know when she sings, God is sitting back some where with this big smile on his face saying, that's my daughter.....
@laidyeh I don't actually know her or anyone personally but she is the light-skinned lady close to the center of the screen at 4:01 who you can tell is really singing. She's also Rev Clay's daughter-in-law and one of the most amazing sopranos ever. There are several videos/tracks with her singing lead here on youtube. You have to see the video where she sings Blessed Assurance! Just type: felicia coleman blessed assurance, and click search.
@laidyeh I know her face but NOT her name! She is the pretty dark-skinned woman in the middle row and she sang lead on a number of songs, most notably ;"Order My Step In Your Word." I WISH that I could REMEMBER her name?! IT'S RIGHT ON THE TIP OF MY TONGUE!!! I HOPE THIS DOESN'T MEAN THAT I HAVE ALTZHEIMERS??
I remember back in the day when Fellowship and my former church, Haven of Rest M.B Church, pastored by it's founder, Rev. John L. Conner, would fellowship together and have a really good time at each others church. Singing with the Voices of Haven at that time under the direction of my uncle, Robert Bonner, we enjoyed and looked forward the friendly choir battles. We had chu'ch.
We used to go to Fellowship's broadcast..my mother, myself and my sisters and the favorite part of the broadcast for me was the Lord's Prayer...we buried Mama a few days ago and one of my sisters in 2006...thank you for connecting me back to the wonderful memories I have of the "Ship".
Awesome sectional balance and power. I can hear each section equally and they sung withsuch excellent harmony. But....that's The Ship! PPraise God! Praise God!
i know i hear it too sometime some people sing beating the same people in the same section out doing the other louder where they are in the same section this is so in tune hallelujah
just purchased two copies of the cd it's worth it this is blessed anointed music as only chicago gospel can give you oh man i miss home i wish i could build a time machine and relive some of these great musicals and services. since i can't purchasing the CD was the next best thing i could do This would be an excellent gift to give someone who's going through. it would also make a good stocking stuffer. lord i sound like an info commercial but the CD is just that good packed with good singing
Hi blkherculesdc: Where did u buy the CD with Fellowship Reunion Choir singing The Lord's Prayer? Tried to find it, and was unsuccessful. I would REALLY like to purchase a couple. Have been looking 4 the choral arrangement 4 this song 4 a long time. This is the VERY BEST I've heard. Please share purchasing info. Would be very much appreciated.
wow GOD answers prayer I really needed to hear this i love fellowship i love the choir the sopranos are the best in the world fellowship and house of prayer were known for their sopranos oh man and the music department at fellowship is second to none the directors Ludella , Reginald, royal, Ronald, stephen are the best in the world. now the solist Loretta,Felicia and some i don't know their names but love to hear them all sing i have to do a part 2 more to tell you about this great choir
It's so good to see a choir with no matter how many members, they are in uniform. I just hope all of these new choirs with ten or twelve members who think it's all about thm, with no uniform at all, take note. Even if a group can't sing, uniforms make them look like they can. Take notes from a veteran! If this many people can be in uniform, you'll need to check yourself!!
You can contact the church at (773) 924-3232. Fellowship is very special to me, as it is where I received the Gift of The Holy Ghost and baptized by Pastor Evans. These videos (and we Praise God for them), only tell a portion of the Worship Experience at The Ship! I can't even find the words to tell you how live changing this place was! To God Be The Glory for Pastor Evans and his Vision.
Kenscruggs I can witness with you 100% I came to Fellowship in the late fifties, not to long after Pastor Evans founded Fellowship. I am still living the experience I got from being a member, growing up in that great church. I pray that God will bless the new Fellowship to be a witness and an instrument for His Glory just as He did old Fellowship.
awesome!!!! and u kno that high soprano at the end made may day!!!! lol any idea if it was felicia? or yvette? or one of them other bomb high noters-hhhmmmm... the ship gave us soem of the best sopranos ever!!!!
The Lord's Prayer Our Father which are in Heaven, Hallowed by thy Name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us; And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, And the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
YES GOD!!! YES GOD!!! YES GOD!!! THANK YA LORD!!! HALLELUJAH!!!! THANK YOU GOD!!!! I BLESS YOU GOD!!! YOU ARE SO WORTHY!!!THANK YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!! (this now concludes my baptist shout and I meant every word and was real with it!!!)
NO I MEAN NO ONE sings this song like THE SHIP CHICAGO IL. HAS SOME OF THE BEST MOST ANOINTED CHOIRS AND VOICES IN THE WORLD AND THE DIRECTORS AT THE SHIP BACK THEN , WOW CHICAGO HAS THE BEST MALE DIRECTORS AND FEMALE DIRECTS WOW I MISS HOME PLEASE POST MORE OF CHICAGO FELLOWSHIP CLIPS
I joined Fellowship back at the end of the fifties, I still feel the anointing of that great church. I have travelled throughout this country and most of Europe and never for one moment forgot things that Rev. Evans taught us. Once a member of Fellowship always a member. I'm going to truely miss this church. The new Fellowship is a totally disappointment to me. But, I'm sure the new church will grow. Pray for the new pastor that he will understand better what he is doing to this great church.
The young pastor has more than doubled the membership in his short tenure. Evans and the new guy are generations apart! That young man would be a NUT to do things as they have always been done.
What you are saying about the new pastor doubling the membership is probably because the new pastor is drawing people and not the Holy Spirit. Read the booki of Acts to find who draws new members to the church. May God bless you to enrich your knowledge about His wonderous works from reading His Word and not taking words from others as pure gospel.
Well, maybe his charisma does have something to do with why some are coming. That's to be understood. I am sure many came under Clay because of his personality, which I think is great. You just need to let go because this young man is doing a great job whether you like it or not. That old ship has sailed and is running anew now. Get over it!
Praise the Lord for Old Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. Fellowship helped to mold my life into what I am today. I will never, ever forget Rev. Clay Evans, LouDella Evans Reid, others and Fellowship for as long as I live. I bless the new Fellowship and pray that the Lord's Holy Spirit would come and ministers as He did in the old Fellowship. No I will not let go, no a million times no. My memories of old Fellowship will last forever.
I love this man! There was never a saturday night that I wouldn't be sitting in front of the television with Clay Evans and the "ship". He was and is amazing! The choir was awesome! I grew up with Michael, Ralph and Diane, so I guess I was always a little partial to Rev. Evans. God Bless him!
Bless you!! Since you grew up with the Evans children, I guess you would be somewhat "partial." Rev. Evans has imparted a lot of wisdom over the years (even to me). I still get something beneficial from many of this old sermons.
I remember this time too. Me and my sister watched this without batting our eyes. I remember when I used to play like I was directing the choir and she was singing along with them, so much fun. I really missed them on TV.
I would really like to purchase the DVD to this "LIVE" Recording. First what is the Title to the DVD and where can I buy it? How much is Shipping & Handling for this DVD?
Dr. Lou Della Evans-Reid featuring Rev. Clay Evans & The Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church Choir
Celebrating the Life, Love and Legacy of Dr. Lou Della Evans-Reid
I purchased the CD and DVD for twenty dollars from Dr. Lou Della Evans-Reid. I also sent Ms. LouDella as we used to call her, an additional three dollars for postage and handling and she sent back a dollar. Dr. Evans-Reid usually attend the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Inc Workshop. The GMWA Convention is in Cincinnati, Ohio, July 25th Through August 1, 2009 this year. You will probably be able to get the CD and DVD their this year. If not contact Fellowship at 1-773-924-3232
