  • Bobby Moore was just too good

  • On Beatles videos, you have people slagging off Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. Here, we have @yeovil50 doing the same about John Terry. WTF has John Fuckin' Terry got to do with this video?

  • Absolute amazing. Not just the technique of the tackle but for having the confidence and the balls to perform a slide tackle in the box. Most defenders would have just tried to stand him up. Also, the way Moore casually gets up and strokes a pass out to the wing is magnificent.

  • Even though he is no longer around, I personally think Bobby Moore should be given a knighthood to his name, even if you can't do that change the rules for him.

  • I got pyjamas for xmas off my kids this year with Bobby Moore on the t shirt. I explained that the picture was from the 1970 world cup and tried to describe the tackle on Jairzinho which I watched as a 7 year old kid. They were very patient and humoured me! Legend is a term which means almost nothing these days but Bobby was that and much, much more.

  • Ronaldo of Brazil would get past!

  • Today it would be impossible. Platini just explained that Messi has to be protected, so, if he looses the ball, penalty and red card for the defender, whatever he could have done

  • @archiduquecarlos

Not at all. That tackle today would be allowed. One foot in, from the side, wins the ball, doesn't touch the player. Fine in 1970, fine in 2012.

  • The Brazil team of 1970 was arguably the greatest team of all time. And we were probably the second best team in the world at that time. It's astonishing how much the world of football has moved ahead of us since then.

  • I watched this game in its entirety not long ago. Its amazing how much England dominated that game and still lost.

  • @Dawahflims I've watched it in its entirety too. England played better in the first half, and Brazil better in the second.

  • Bobby Moore was a great defender but Sami Hyppia in his prime was the best defender ever

  • @danno1no2 nice troll bro

  • @danno1no2 What?!

  • @danno1no2 lol you clown

  • @danno1no2

Sami Hyppia better than Bobby Moore? Dear good lord, I've heard it all now...

  • Pele said that moore was the hardest defender he ever played against. To all those that are saying that Pele is overrated, he scored over 1200 goals in his career? over rated my arse.

  • @bulldoglemsford

Gerd muller scored 1400 goals. take that!!!

  • @crazygamer241 muller and pele would be in my all time xi easy

  • @crazygamer241 You're right, but Pelé wasnt a center forward like Muller was. He was the team's playmaker , a classic number 10.

  • @invino334

wait but it says on wikipedia on pele's page "forward" on muller's page it says "forward".

  • @crazygamer241 Wikipedia is not 100% correct because it is edited by anyone. Pele was a playmaker, he played in the midfield with Clodoaldo and Gerson in 1970. The brazilian equivalent of Muller in 1970 would be Tostão.

  • @crazygamer241 @invino334 For Brazil 1970 , the pioneers of 4-2-3-1, Pele played as a central attacking midfielder. The only forward was Tostao, who he was actually a False 9.

    Sometimes the 2 swapped positions.

Pele during his career played as a forward, attacking midfielder and winger.

The forward position he played was that of a ponta-de-lanca, a support striker that drops into midfield and witch has playmaking skills (like Messi or Rooney nowadays).

  • @darkoneforce2

ahhhh, thanks, also kinda shows how complete rooney and messi are, both strikers that i admire.

  • @invino334 He was the attacking playmaker, Gerson was the boss in the midfield who controlled the flow.

Teams had (and some still have today) a deep-lying playmaker and a 10/ offensive playmaker.

  • @darkoneforce2 You're right. Its a 4-2-3-1 avant la lettre. You're very well informed about the brazilian team in 1970 and the tactics, its quite rare finding someone that really knows about that subject.

  • @bulldoglemsford You're right. And he played against Beckenbauer, Figueroa, Passarella, Rattin, Nilton Santos, Carlos Alberto, Facchetti and many many other legends. He also said that Moore was one of the few that played against him without violence.

  • Waited and waited, then BANG!! Timed to perfection.

  • I can't believe the miss by England at 00:59 you have to put that away

  • it was a tackle, nothing more, not legendary, just a tackle.

  • @milllybob its obvious u do not play football

  • @milllybob you just have no idea hahaha your just embarrassing yourself with that comment hahaha

  • What a player this fellow is

  • i'm not english, but

    Gordon Banks

    Bobby Moore

    Bobby Robson

Bobby Charlton... The best englnad player ever! xD!

  • bet you a tenner that brazilian is still lying on the pitch crying foul

  • Bobby Moore = God of English football, a true captain, a legend, a hero, an immortal.

  • If someone did that today, then the player would have dived and rolled around the floor until he got a penalty

  • he'd give messi a run for his money

  • Beckenbauer said "He was the best defender in the history of the game"

  • Makes me so pissed off when you think of the aclaim and money the likes of John Terry get compared to the great Bobby Moore. Jeez- John Terry is not fit too clean Moore's boots!. Bobby Moore was more than a footballer he was a great man, dignified and loved. No matter all for John Terry's millions, he will never be able to say he is loved as Bobby Moore was and still is..

  • @yeovil50 his teammates don't even like him. Terry's a twat that sleeps with other teammates' girlfriends... ouch.

  • R.I.P

  • overrated?

  • @estario he was, just because he was captain doesnt mean he is the best defender ever, Puyol wont be rated the best defender of all time by Spaniards...

  • bobby moore is a distant reletive of mine...n iv been watch some of these vid`s n fair play he is amazin..x

  • hgjh

  • really good tackling

  • my god that took guts. To do a slide tackle in the world cup against brazil in the penalty area, fantastic.

  • @farhannius what else was he gona do? let him shoot?

  • hero

  • Having Brian Labone & Bobby Moore as the only two defenders back is like having four defenders back. Legends.

  • The ref would have probably given a penalty if it happened today.

  • the miss was even more incredible! lol just joking

  • Bobby Moore is selected in the Football Legends team! See the other players in the cool video on my youtube channel (or copy paste the code at the end watch?v=jQPk9WA80Ac)

  • Write English correctly: could've or could have NOT could of!

Of is a preposition and has nothing to do with the verb.

  • It's people like Bobby Moore, that make me proud to be English

  • ...I have read or heard that Robert Moore never committed a foul whilst making all his tackles.......

  • legendary tackle but Maldini's countless tackles(against Romario in world cup final comes to mind) and Nesta vs France in Euro 2000 were the greatest tackles ever.

  • great bobby moore. i advise baresi vs romario in final 1994.

  • Con el MAESTRO Bobby Moore NADIE pasaba

  • Unfortunately, amongst other things, it was Moore's slow reaction to the loose ball and subsequent weak attempt at a tackle that led to the goal.

This was the first World Cup I remember watching and is still, in my opinion, the best ever by some margin. Probably the best ever England team by some margin aswell.

  • John Terry is not fit to lick Bobby Moore's soiled boots.

  • Immaculate footballer Imprial defender Immortal hero of 1966. First Englishman to raise the World Cup aloft. Favourite son of London'a East End. Finest legend of West Ham Utd. National treasure. Master of Wembley. Lord of the game. Captain extraordinary. Gentle man for all time Bobby Moore O.B.E (These are the word inscribed beneath Bobby's statue out side Wembley ) who will put a statue up for one of the current crop

  • what a tackle shame about this world cup but heyy theres allways 4 years time

  • JT and co, should learn from him, maybe play these old tapes over and over again.

  • Greatest English Defender Ever

  • @Mugenat0r Not only the greatest English defender ever, but THE greatest defender ever.

  • @HTFCTOM99 you never heard of Paolo Maldini?

  • @theblackestnight Of course, but Moore was better, Maldini would never have been as good against such a good Brazilian side as Moore did in that game, don't get me wrong, Maldini was a brilliant player but in my opinion Moore was better.

  • The greatest defender that ever lived.

  • Astle ! you baggies ..... er

  • best footballing defender England have ever had.

  • Oh,and Petsounds, yes he did actually, check out the Doc for yourself ,you will see it,if you have ever played Football you will understand that some players physically have to spit, they can't help it.Its not a bad thing, only when the Camera catches it!

  • I saw the Doc too, very touching,he was,and still is a BIG Hero of mine, when i was a lad of Ten(the same year as this game)i met him,he was doing a signing session at a Shoe Shop in Reading,to this day i can recall his smile as he looked up at me from the Table he was sat at,he radiated goodness, you can tell he had that effect on everyone he met, live your life like Bobby and you wont go far wrong, where are the England players of that stature today?I'd love them to prove me wrong.

  • moore is a legend

  • the greatest tackle of all time. as good as a goal imo

  • Did Bobby Moore ever spit on the pitch ?

  • Bobby Moore showed exactly how to make the perfect tackle - skill, timing, patience and toughness.

This should be shown to young kids the world over as a textbook way on how to defend. Today's defenders tend to 'hack' or panic when they are up against it.

If some super-skilled striker is running towards my goal, There is only one man who I want back there.......................Bobby Moore.

  • @starryian007 Would rather Maldini back there, considering the players he was up against.

  • @starryian007 what about maldini

  • How did that twat Astle miss.

  • If it wasn't for Banks getting the shits in this world cup, we would all now have replica England shirts with two stars above the badge. Moore was fantastic - made Brazillian forwards look like sunday school players. COME ON ENGLAND!

  • Suscribe to me, tellybou....

and listen to the unnofficial 2010 England World Cup anthem taking the country by storm!!

  • "Team made son of a bitch" in first minutes? :D

  • @PiotroV7

no.. its teammates on the bench... but sounds like sob part though.. :-)

  • Split second perfection! I never realised though that it was so soon before that even more so famous miss.

  • How did Astle miss that chance? Stupid Albion bastard.

Not fit to share the three lions with Bobby Moore or anyone else in that team.

  • "There should be a law against him. He knows what's happening 20 minutes before everyone else." Jock Stein.

It's time to join the immortals, gentlemen.

  • Bobby Moore = Legend

  • spgenius05 Get your facts right! you very clearly know very very little about Football! Bobby Moore played most of his career at left half! (The Same as Duncan edwards!) Alf Ramsey chose to switch to a 4-4-2 formation. Jack Charlton was a centre half, you un educated southern Numpty!

  • Comment removed

  • @mertonparka ..didn't Ramsey play 4-3-3 most of the time. Hence the nickname "wingless wonders"..

  • @matclarence Ramsey played 4-3-3 (wingless wonders) during the build up to the world cup hence the nickname. During the 66 World Cup he famously switched to the 4-4-2 formation for the game against Argentina, For the final he also played 4-4-2 (although it was more like the modern diamond formation). This was the system he stuck with. Ramsey pioneered the 4-4-2 formation in football.

  • hold on the guy who said bobby moore wouldnt had played if ducan edwards was alive...infact it would had been jackie charlton, not bobby moore...lets have it right how can u disgrace the memory of bobby moore with such a disrespectful comment...a typical northern who knows fuck all about football

  • @spgenius05 Bobby moore played at left half (The same as Duncan Edwards) Ramsey chose to switch to 4-4-2. Jack Charlton was a CENTRE HALF you numpty!

  • @mertonparka u honestly think he would have left bobby moore out of the world cup team...ok where do i start? firstly, Bobby moore reputation as one if not, best english centre halves by not only captaining west ham at a young age, but also apart of A SUCCESSFUL west ham team that were winning trophies. He become a hot propertery not only in england but abroad and even rejected a move to manchester united where he would had been best paid player in the old english first division.

  • Don't know which is more more amazing, The tackle by the great Bobby Moore or the miss from Jeff Astle!

  • Would never have captained England or lifted the World Cup in '66' if Duncan Edwards had lived. Sorry, but it's true. ( I support Everton by the way)

  • you have just heard that from bobby charlton

  • ur a disgrace to evertonians lad.. bobby moore was a great captain, a great footballer and he is respected by all fans espescially evertonians! brian labone wouldve been his partner though ahead of jack charlton. which is grim but labone was a man of such great honour and decided to keep his promise and marry his beloved wife! RIP MOORE RIP LABONE! last of the corinthians!

  • @Evertonian87 Can you read properly? I have never stated the Bobby Moore wasnt a great player. I pointed out the fact that Ramsey chose to switch to a 4-4-2 formation and slot Bobby Moore( a left half into it) I would imagine that Duncan Edwards, also a left half would have taken that position. Bobby Moore was a great player! Please learn to read properly

  • "He was my friend as well as the greatest defender I ever played against. The world has lost one of its greatest football players and an honourable gentleman."- Pelé

    That says it all.

  • @starryian007 just because Pele was half decent it doesnt mean he knows it all about football otherwise he'd have been a great manager

  • @EzPz8 Who does? Just cause he was a shit manager, doesn't mean he can't recognise when other players have amazing skill. That's the kind of thing you learn against playing players from all over the world.

  • @tezzrexx He said Columbia would get to the 1994 world cup final, they were shit at it, thats how clever he is...and did you check out his 100 greatest players or something, loads or average players in it :/ and as a player he was basically a poacher so I dunno why people listen to him as inspiration...

  • @EzPz8 Pelé was a basically poacher? Loooooool

You obviously have no idea of what you're talking about. Brazil had no center-forward in this WC. Pelé, Tostão, Rivelino and Gerson were classic n.10 playmakers in their respective clubs. There were no Gerd Muller or Gary Lineker in the brazilian squad in 1970 and Pelé certainly could not be considered one of those.

  • @invino334 Erm I think It's you who has no idea what they're talking about! I've watched many games of his and he never done anything exceptional. It's just the usual situation where English media always try and bum up any Brazilian that kicks a ball as being the best that's ever been, I mean look at Ronaldinho, nothing special and media cumming all over him :/

  • @EzPz8 OK, Pele never done anything exceptional, he was an average player. You're absolutely right. Ronaldinho, Pelé, Kaká, Zico, etc, etc, they were just average players.

The best player of all time is Gareth Barry.

    Go on, mate

  • @invino334 HA you're one of these idiot's who jumps to extreme's if someone takes a debate to you, did I say he was just average? I'm saying he wasn't the best player of all time he was just good, nothing great.Ronaldinho is over rated you brainless idiot, you have no clue if you've ever rated him. Ironically you've chosen a player who was under rated, under rated basically because he has a boring name and face and isn't Brazilian. If Barry was Brazilian you would be cumming over him. Fact Fact

  • @EzPz8 "Pele was just good,nothing great"

    "Ronaldinho is overrated"

    "Pele was a goal poacher"

"If Barry was Brazilian you would be cumming over him"

It's impossible to take a debate with someone that says these kind of absurd things.

And If Barry was Brazilian he would never be selected

  • @invino334 3 very true statments, a pity you're just like a sheep and follow the band wagon :) bless

  • Comment removed

  • @EzPz8 Pele not great? Name me 5 better players. Ronaldinho overrated? Go and watch the 2002 WC tapes. Gareth Barry is a nothing player. If he was Brazilian, we wouldn't 'be cumming over him', we would never have heard of him, since he wouldn't rate a place in a third string Brazilian line up.

  • @FreckletonBoy Maradona, Zidane, Ronaldo, Phil Neville & Puskas! Ronaldinho was only rated cause of his country, if he played for Poland there wouldnt have been as much hype. So Elano, a first team Brazilian got sold to make way for Barry at City, yet Barry wouldnt get in a third string Brazilian team...yeah that makes sense ;)

  • @starryian007

It doesn't tell you who he played for.

  • @davesmith7891 Bobby Moore played - in his prime - for West Ham and was captain of England.

  • @starryian007

I know - it was just a lame joke. Sorry.

  • @davesmith7891 LOL....No problems my friend.

  • The great Bobby Moore. England and West Ham Captain. He won 108 caps and 90 of those as captain (a number only equalled only by the legendary Billy Wright) A true professional and gentleman. You are right to point out the disgraceful way in which Bobby Moore was treated by the footballing establishment after his career had ended. Moore was, and still is, the only man to ever to lift the World Cup for England.

As I understood it he wasn't even offered an ambassador role. An utter disgrace!

  • it's a shame (on the british media)that the only work bobby got towards the end of his life was a column in the daily sport and some local radio work.his input on tv at major finals would be so interesting...(HERE'S TO BOBBY MOORE THE FINEST ENGLAND CAPTAIN OF ALL TIME)ps i heard greavsie gave him 25 quid for the bracelet!!!!!!

  • You are right to precise on british media

because in others countrys that who interest the medias and football's fans

    is only the football.

Personally, I admired the great Bobby and the others members of the fabulous four and I was really indifferent at the story

    goes and calomny.

The only and real problem for english fans is that there cannot perceive the

    real successors of Banks, Moore,Charlton

    and Hurst.

    Only theirs shadows perhaps..

  • Comment removed

  • I was only 13 years old when i saw this

match in 1970 at the tv , perhaps the world cup the most spectacular , what emotion !

England was the only team to do equal

play with the brazilians magicians. I think it's not tomorrow the day, sorry

for english fans, that England will find

again a quartet like the fabulous four : Banks, Moore, Charlton, Hurst.

All the persons that since 40 yars announce their successors (Seaman,

    Keegan,Owen,Bekham and others)

    laugh at the world.

  • got to agree mate...we will never have the likes of moore, banks and charlton all playing at the same time again....well said again mate

  • There is a curious thing : England invented football, it is the country who won the most of european cups and often

without the help of foreign players contrary

with Spain or Italy and her national team

won only one world cup( by the presence

of 4 fabulous players) and none at all

    an european cup.

There is the perfect evidence that english clubs have a special spirit, a mysterious alchemy .

When can we see again a great England

to be able to win a world cup ?

    Improbable hypothesis.

  • Nice to see the Brazilians not throughing themselves in the penalty box!. Pity the present day Premier league guys dont take notice.

  • Best defender ever.

  • What a player this fellow is !!!

  • This Bloke Would make even Messi Look like a Twat Today.

  • he sets and example to kids on how to defend

  • the man was a legend, its all about the west ham academy!

  • bobby Moore would make ronaldo with all his stepovers look like a idiot.Greatest ever defender.come on you irons

  • ronaldo makes ronaldo look like an idiot when he does them stepovers

  • @timsdie pretty sure most defenders make Cristiano look like an idiot. the Real Ronaldo with his stepovers would eat Moore alive however.

  • bobby moore is my grandad.

  • so sorry for your loss..

  • please play for west ham

  • Geez great tackle..... but how was that miss at the end? SHOCKING!!

  • that is amazing. if only moore and maldini were fused into one player wow how good a defender that fusion would be.

  • que abusivo para no solo quitarle el balon, sino para pararla...y dejarla dormida...que abusivazo!

  • What did u mean, 05867? I'm sorry, I don't quite follow u.

  • if you don't get u don't follow Football

  • Were u talking to me or 05867, Biggest? I'm assuming that u r talking to 05867.

  • great tackle mr moore, ASTLE!!!!!!!!!!! noooooooooo!!!!!

  • "Astle, NO!! Why didn't Ramsey start Peter Osgood??" ;D

  • don't know TheLegendfamily

  • Bobby Moore was and remains thee 'golden boy' best halfback tackler ever and a superb Captain teams today would give millions for!

  • Actually, Moore was almost always playing as a center-back 4 England @ this time. He was just on the ball & making plays so much that he looks like he's playing as a half-back (as u put it).

  • Thanks!

  • Yer quite welcome, mikris. I wasn't trying to correct u, I just thought that u would want 2 know the diference.

  • he waited for the right moment...then...got him!...i can watch that over and over

  • i still remember that tackle from mooooreee

  • i think pele said that moore was he's toughest opponent

  • he said moore was the fairest defender he ever played against

  • "anyone could of made the tackle if they got the timing right"

exactly, and not everybody would have

  • @scart1981 cant disagree with you there, like saying anybody could beat usain bolt in a 100meter race if they got the speed right

  • @scart1981

Anybody could score a volley from 30 yards but not many do

  • greatest tackle of all time, what a pity jeff astle missed the sitter (but we always seem to do herioc failure better than anyone else)brazil were shitting themselves that we'd meet them in the final, they knew we were the only team that could beat them(pele, jairzihno and carlos alberto said as much) but sir alf blew it in the quarters by taking bobby charlton off at 2 nil v germany thus releasing franz beckenbaur (sic) from bobbys pocket and (sigh) the rest is history.

  • U jus dont players like him anymore :(

  • top class.

  • Even though I am a Gunners supporter I must take my hat off to Bobby Moore who is England's greatest Captain.

  • Legend.

  • astle, u twat!!!

  • Fantastic timing.

  • Absolutely agree with you
